Steve,
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but your writeup on page 5 for Radiation Sickness includes the Ranged advantage. I tried to write it up in Hero Designer and got the error that it was already ranged. I verified that in the core book that Drain is listed as ranged. Am I missing something? Should the power only cost 40 points instead of 60, then?
Norm.

Re: Speed Disarm
Is there a reason that a drain on movement would not work? Or maybe a naked advantage on your strength, adding range but limiting it to only used with a grab?
Actually.. sounds like telekinesis, with limitations.

Re: Alternative Uses for Heroic Action Points
Only +1 HAP for "For Our Friend". I think that is really, really low when compared to "Comeback". If it is truly heroic group, I would probably give +5 or +8. Especially if it was a heroic death. Look at all of the things that happens when a major character dies in the comic books. It should inspire/enrage the rest of the group in the battle.

Re: Limitation Value on Weaponmaster
Love your idea Hugh. I will have to remember that one.
This depends on how your magic system works... and this the rules lawyer in me.... I would also add penalty skill levels to offset the increased minus to the magic skill roll due to the increase in active points. We currently use -1 to magic roll per 10 active points in our game.

Re: Hero System Resource Kit?
Other charts that I use (play Fantasy Hero)
DCV Modifiers Table - includes hit location modifiers too.
For new players.... and DMs. Most likely abandoned after the group gets some experience.
Actions Table - some things take longer than others.
Attack Roll Quick-Reference Table

Re: Combat Record Sheet
You can use the following link to make a quick chart and then print it out or print it to PDF. It is a really easy way quickly make your own custom speed chart. Not really a full combat record....
http://www.8kindsoffun.com/SpeedChart/
Fitz has a GM combat record sheet. See 'GM's Character Record Sheet'

Kestrel has a record sheet also.... See 'THE HIT LIST'

Here are some of the things that I have found over the years....

If someone in your group has Hero Designer and you are keeping track of your characters, it can also create a combat record sheet.
I hope that some of this helps.

Re: FANTASY HERO -- What Do *You* Want To See?
1. Recharge/limited lockout for a power/talent/spell. Charges has increased recovery time and unless I am missing something that is simple, a limitation that says I can only use a spell/power once every minute (or one hour) would be neat.
2. One of my big issues has been balancing buying spells for the magic user and free items for use by everyone. I am not sure that someone has already mentioned something like this. Besides only charging 1/3 (ala Turakian Age), what other ways can be presented? For example, what about using resource points (ala Dark Champions). Two options that I can easily see: A. Everyone still gets free stuff, and magic users use resource points to buy spells. B. People have 2 resource point pools, mundane items and magic (spells and items).
3. A way to write up sectional armor. Something that can specify hit locations and not just use an activation roll to represent it.

Re: "No Points" Character sheet?
Paul,
Are you still looking for a no points character sheet. If you want, and you own hero designer, I can shoot you the export template that I use. It will at least give you a starting point. Also, if you do not want a any large changes, I could probably do it for you.
You can see examples of the character sheets at:
http://www.gamesandgadgets.org/Stuff/
Specifically the Darbor and Vaden links.
I actually use 2 different export templates for a 2 page character sheet (front and back). The Weapons and Hit Chart/Armor sections on page 2 are actually custom tabs that have raw HTML in them.
Please feel free to PM or email me (I think I check-boxed the correct things for it) if you have any question or are interested in the export templates.
Norm.
PS. As a final note, I also added a custom stat to the character sheet. That can easily be taken out of the write-up.

Re: Taming Absolutes - Final House Rules
I'm not sure what you mean by "is AP a way of offsetting DR"?There have been discussions elsewhere, I think a search on Damage Reduction will quickly find threads already discussing this but if not I can look. Anyway, in brief, the issue with the cost of DR is that, because it has no relationship to the points level of the game, it's utility equally varies with that points level. For example, 50% Resistant DR is (IIRC) 30 points. We started our game at 155+60 or thereabouts. Anyone who bought it at that time basically was paying 30 points to relieve 50% of attacks, and at that time that 50% would be typically going against somewhere around 8-12 DC attacks (just really roughly). Now, that same defense at the same points value is offsetting 50% of 24-30 DC attacks as the campaign has moved on to being much more high-powered. So originally for that 30 points you defrayed, for a normal attack, 14-21 STUN, and later for a normal attack you defrayed 42-52.5 STUN. There's also an issue of course with DR in lower-powered games, where it costs "too much" (but of course, one can argue that DR is a less attractive and appropriate power in such games, but all this of course is really a separate issue than DR as an "absolute" as defined in this thread).
I am coming into this rather late. You probably have tried and discarded most of my ideas below.
Since you are dealing with house rules so much, why not just change/get rid of the absolute powers. This way there could be some of the balance that you are looking for on point spending. It will be hell on play testing and will probably frustrate your players greatly....
Example:
Damage Reduction. Change it to a bastardized absorption. Say 5 points gets you 1d6 of resistant and 3 points gets you 1d6 of non-resistant damage reduction. Damage reduction is rolled like simplified healing or normal damage. It can be armor pierced, hardened, etc. just like any other defense.
Character HitMe has 6d6 resistant damage reduction (costing 30 points). He is hit for 15 BODY and 45 STUN. The player rolls the 6 dice (5,3,1,4,6,3) and the damage is reduced to 9 BODY and 23 STUN.Not sure if this is what you are looking for. But as far as starting values, this is close to your example above. However, as the power levels go up, the player would have to buy more to keep on level. On the down side... more dice rolling.
Also, I am curious.... Is there any reason that you are not using negative skill levels to represent/simulate Invisibility/Darkness? That could also get hairy with all of the different sense groups and such...

Plea for help.
How about this. Two ideas:
(1) Insane force field. Delayed activation, ? turns. Only works against missile weapons. Special effect - force field 'tunes' itself to the frequency of the missile weapons as you get hit. aka. Star Trek's Borg.
(2) Insane force field. Linked with absorption (energy) going to an END battery. Trigger (when END battery is full). Special effect - force field charges by absorbing the energy from an energy blast.
For number 2 above, do not know if you have slug throwers. If you do, you could just have absorb the kinetic energy from the missile attack.
Well... What do you think?

Re: Possible HERO System Supplement Kickstarters From Steve -- What Interests You?
Since 6E came out, I have been buying almost anything that is not Champions or Pulp. My preference is pretty much Fantasy and Science Fiction (or some combinations/parts of).
As far as what I would like to see in Hero. Pretty much in my order of preference.
I do plan on buying Mythic Hero when available. It is not on my list as a priority because I would probably use it as a reference here and there. Would maybe buy Book of the Empress, but not sure. Only reason that I would consider it seems to fit into Science Fiction and the ideas of running huge, galactic organizations. Almost seems to have a Stargate feel to it for me (from descriptions).
As far as price, that would depend on if it is PDF, print, or PDF/print combo. Where possible I buy PDF/print combos. $20 to $25 for a PDF, $40 to $50 for a book, and $60 to $70 for a PDF/print combo is not out of my price range. But, money is not tight right now and that can always change.
