  1. Re: A Time Traveling Character Thanks for all the replies. I'm thinking that he just disappears and re-appears two to three phases later in a different spot on the battlefield.
  2. One of the characters in my world can time travel a few seconds into the future during combat. He slips into the time stream to avoid being attacked during combat. During the period that he is out of the normal time stream he can still move around normally. How would you build his time traveling power?
  3. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book They're not going to be in the first book, but will be covered in the next world book. The reason being is that the US is pretty large and the book covers 11 factions. Adding more factions would only blossom the book out by more then twice its size.
  4. Re: Inceptum Terminus: Chronicles of the New Confederation It's Latin for Beginning and Ending.
  5. Re: Inceptum Terminus: Chronicles of the New Confederation The points allowed for Gifted at the start of any game is 350 points. The world isn't geared for higher starting point totals. Normals get the flexibity over what their total points are while Gifted are stuck at 350. That is, of course, if a GM decides to change it. In that case, the points max is upped for Normals as well.
  6. Re: The Dealer Interesting character and I like the concept.
  7. Re: Inceptum Terminus: Chronicles of the New Confederation To be honest, Chapter One exists because it sets up the ground work for the world and establishes the basic definitions that I'll be using in the book. Not everyone is well versed in these subjects as you and I.
  8. Re: Inceptum Terminus: Chronicles of the New Confederation One thing I can say is that there are plans for 65 Gifted characters presented in the book that encompasses all of the official Gifted in the United States. There will be Normals as well, but I don't have a definite number on them. There are a total of 11 factions in the first book with nine of them being corporations. The other one is listed in the title of this thread and will be the book title. The final one will be a secret. The 65 Gifted are the factions official superhero teams. The characters were built up from their childhood and the events are what made them into the people they are today. Their combinations are unusual with their powers and personalities.
  9. Re: Inceptum Terminus: Chronicles of the New Confederation Right now that's up in the air, but currently the book is being written for 5E. Depending upon when 6E comes out will determine if it will be for that edition or 5E. In either case, we'll be committed to supporting both as soon as we finish the licensing of HERO System. The licensing will also determine which edition it's for as well.
  10. Re: Inceptum Terminus: Chronicles of the New Confederation Thank ya for the preview review SD and I appreciate it. We're hoping for 9 months at the latest. There will be a pdf and paperback copy planned for the book and will hopefully be the first book of many from LCSB Publishing LLC. Prices haven't been determined yet since we need to finish the final draft of the book. There will be many, many things in the book that haven't been seen by anyone outside of the company, but I can tell you that this is only the tip of the iceberg that SD mentioned.
  11. Re: Code vs Killing, but Gods a little fuzzy about kneecaps. Well considering the choices given to Sups under the law it was imprisonment for Arrow or take his shooting arm. I'd say that Sups was rather lenient by removing Arrow's arm and left with no criminal record. The other choice was simply too harsh for Arrow since his next stop would have been to the federal pen for violation of the act and he put quite a few of the criminals in there. If shock was such a big concern then Arrow had no business being out there as a superhero. Afterall, a superhero that couldn't take falling, beatings, and other job hazards without succumbing to shock would have ceased to operate as a hero a long time ago.
  12. Re: Code vs Killing, but Gods a little fuzzy about kneecaps. I believe you're misremembering The Dark Knight Returns. Superman had cornered the Green Arrow after Arrow went underground to avoid capture and ripped off his arm, in order to preserve the Arrow's life. Green Arrow was remembering what happened to his arm when he was lining up the shot with the green kryptonite arrow to shoot Superman when Batman was fighting him in the power armor and you never saw the actual flashback. It was just thought balloons over Arrow's head during the present events that the artwork was showing.
  13. Re: Code vs Killing, but Gods a little fuzzy about kneecaps. Naw, Sups used his heat vision to cauterize the wound. No risk of fatality there.
  14. Re: Code vs Killing, but Gods a little fuzzy about kneecaps. Batman doesn't have a CvK, but he does have the Psych Lim Loves To Hurt Criminals Common, Total for 20 points. The first 10 or so issues of Batman had him carrying dual .45's and killing the bad guys. This tendency to kill hasn't stopped him before and won't in the future. The thing that stops him from killing is the neurotic tendency to make the criminal feel the emotional pain he's feeling over the loss of his parents by beating the crap out of them and causing massive amounts of physical damage to a criminal. This can be written up as a Psych Lim of Criminals Must Feel Pain Over Loss of Parents at Common, Total Commitment for another 20 points. Killing the criminal sort of defeats the purpose of the neurosis since once they're dead they can't feel the pain he's suffering. In The Killing Joke and other trade paperbacks Batman has no regrets in killing anyone including The Joker. If a two bit hood bites the dust he rationalizes it away by essentially saying that they weren't the sort of criminal that deserves to feel his pain and Gothom is better off without them. Those two Psych Lims make it appear that Batman has a CvK, but it's not a CvK and he shouldn't be considered to have it. The only characters that I can think of that would have a CvK is Silver Surfer and Superman. Superman is the ultimate boy scout and will not kill anyone nor allow anyone around him to kill. There were plenty of times when Batman and Superman had teamed up and it was Superman that stopped Batman from killing someone. There were, also, plenty of times when Superman would forcibly stop other supers that had no problems with killing from doing so. The other supers weren't in the position to tell Superman no under any circumstances. (Thinks of Green Arrow's attitude towards Superman in The Dark Knight Returns). Superman ripped off Green Arrow's arm after the registration act was passed in order to keep Green Arrow from breaking the law and Superman didn't exactly enjoy it either. The favor wasn't returned and Green Arrow hated Superman for the loss of his arm.
  15. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book New version of the team plus one of the bad guys added.
  16. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book Here's the Inceptum Terminus team.
  17. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book More previews of the book in progress. Again comments and questions are welcome. Gifted Team Rosters New Confederation of the United States Formed from the ashes of the former United States and the dreams of liberty of a wanderer of the wastes the New Confederacy represents the ideals of the original founding fathers in the modern world. Formed in the twilight years of the Age of Reawakening the New Confederacy fights to retake the former states from corporate control and institute a new golden age of humanity. They strike from hidden conclaves scattered throughout the former states and hide in the underworld amidst the dark shadows of humanity. Inceptum Terminus Sound Star Tsunami White Wolfe Night Daemon Genestealer Mind Locke High Plains Alliance (Biogenetics) Biogenetics rose from the ashes of several large food and genetic research corporations and seeks to enslave the whole of The Gifted. Their dark ambitions know no boundaries and are frequent aggressors in armed conflict with their neighbors. Not really trusted by the other Corporate States they have a secret agenda for the former United States. Bloodrain Hemorrhage Dark Sun Illuminatus Virus Starstrike Death Dealer Southern States of America (Turner Entertainment Network) The Southern States of America feeds the Corporate States need for entertainment and is fast allies with the Trans-Missouri Freehold. Both have a mutual protection treaty in place that holds the evil designs of Biogenetics in check. Based upon the old ideals of the Confederate States of America, they have easy relations with The Gifted and view their enslavement as a necessary evil in the current age. Reformers are fighting hard with words and not with weapons to change the perception of The Gifted, but the going is slow. The Troupe Holo Hell Grey Noise Remote Control The Editor The Grip The Producer Trans-Missouri Freehold (MacDonnel-Douglas Consolidated) The Trans-Missouri Freehold is the most open Corporate State and allows The Gifted free reign within its borders. The New Confederation is allowed to operate openly within its borders in exchange for the protection offered by Inceptum Terminus and the New Confederation Army. Seen a constant threat to the status quo they are the main rivals to Biogenetics. Phalanx Angelicus Cheribum Seraphim Ophinem Erelim Elohim Exousia Republic of West Coast States (Cyberware) The Republic of West Coast States is an open Corporate State that follows in the tradition started by Trans-Missouri Freehold of equal rights. The current CEO of Cyberware is a secret member of Inceptum Terminus. The New Confederation is allowed some limited freedom of movement and operating openly as long as they do not threaten the current power structure of the Corporate State. One of the major goals of Cyberware is to relinquish control and allow government of the people to take over. West Coast Guardians Cyber-Nightmare Lady Stalker Death Strike Sharpshooter High Explosive Southwestern Militarized Zone (Tandi-Texas Instrumentation) Centuries of war with Mexico has reduced the freedoms enjoyed by the average citizen. With threats to their borders The Gifted are enslaved to fight against all aggressors. An uneasy truce exists between the Southwestern Militarized Zone, Republic of West Coast States, and Trans-Missouri Freehold. The Southwestern Militarized Zone has the largest border shared with Mexico and is the site of frequent firefights. The border on all sides in enclosed by sophisticated walls and defenses that thwarts all but the most aggressive attacks by her enemies. Staunchly independent the Southwestern Militarized Zone sees itself as the guardian against the unwashed hordes from the south. The Marshals Specialist Sidewinder PFC Peacemaker Colonel Kay Sergeant Six Gun Major Mayhem Consolidated Great Lake States (Global Motors Corporation) In the collapse of society, the Consolidated Great Lake States arose under the strong leadership of the largest single producer of vehicles in the former United States. Socialism permeates the entire society and technology is near stagnant. The Gifted are nothing more then pawns to the state and have no freedoms. The other Corporate States do not attack out of fear from being cut off from vehicle parts and new vehicles. The Consolidators Slipstream Tempest Psychosis Blood Fist Indomitable Pacific Northwest Shogunate (Mitsu-Pan) After China, North Korea, and Vietnam overran the island nation of Japan the Pacific Northwest Shogunate represents the last of the old Japanese dynasty. The Gifted are well treated and adhere to the tenets of Bushido. In exchange, they are granted positions of generals and treated as children of the Living God-Emperor. To keep the numbers of The Gifted few, the emperor manipulates each shogun into fighting rivals. Over the past 200 years, the Pacific Northwest Shogunate has steeped itself in the ancient culture of Bushido Japan. As a result, they are frequently at war with the Republic of West Coast States and the Rocky Mountain Confederation. The lush forests of the have been preserved and many of the old American Indian tribes have been absorbed while losing their cultural identity. Nippon Bushi Matrix Helix Busata Bushi (Silent Samurai) Teichou Nihon (Captain Japan) Kencho Kure-n (Striking Crane) Atlantic Northeast States (Dai-HK) Originally formed as an expedition by the Republic of Germany to flee the onslaught of France, the Atlantic Northeast States stands as a safe haven for former European allies of the United States. Due to their ability to produce arms, vehicles, and ammunition, the Atlantic Northeast States frequently finds itself in skirmishes with the Consolidated Great Lake States. An uneasy truce exists between the Atlantic Northeast States and the Southern States of America. Neither side goes out of its way to antagonize the other. The overall goal of the Atlantic Northeast States is to rebuild their forces in order to invade Fortress Europa and send the fascist French packing from their homelands. Duetschland Protectors Mörder Würger (Killer Shrike) Longinus Totenkopffalter (Death's Head) Erdbebenwelle (Seismic Wave) Feuermeister (Firemaster) Fantasie Meister (Fantasy Master) Rocky Mountain Confederation (Wetware) The Rocky Mountain Confederation controls vast expanses of the Rocky Mountains and rules with an iron fist. The mountains serve as an inspiration to the people and are staunchly independent of the other Corporate States. The Gifted are treated as valuable assets, but lack human rights. Just as the mountains are harsh and cruel, so is this Corporate State. Expeditions into its territory has met with repeated failures. One thing is known through rumor is the practice of polygamy within its borders. The Dream Team Dreamscape Ego Nightmare Impulse Underworld The underworld represents the vast under belly of humanity. Not one single Corporate State can lay claim to it, but one thing is certain. One non-human controls it all and allows the New Confederation to operate with some immunity. However, if you need something you can find it here and if not then the price is too high to be worth owning it. Renegades, marauders, thieves, killers, and other unsavory sorts scurry through the underground to escape from the corporate masters. Only the strongest of the fittest survives within the strict hierarchy and failure results in death. Pitbull Dark Talon
  18. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book I referred to real world events and instead of following the actions taken I had them take the other road. There are many things these countries could have done and out of all the possible actions they could have taken I went down the road of destruction of the world.
  19. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book Asking for the real world in a fictional universe is quite humorous.
  20. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book No, I welcomed the comments that you've made and I replied to them. I based my decision for France being the bad guys due to the events surrounding the start of the timeline. France has a history of ignoring the sanctions of the UN and helped Iraq. They've got a long history of supporting enemies of the US. Now the history presented is from the point of view of an American and does not constitute the truth of what happened. When it comes time to write up Europe there would be a definite anti-US spin to the history.
  21. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book I can go even further back to the regular raids done by the Germanic Tribes against the Gauls. The history is there of the enmity between France and Germany which manifested itself in the aftermath of WWI and WWII.
  22. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book I see that you've forgotten the 30 Years War (1618–1648), Seven Years War (1756-1763), and the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871). That's roughly 300 years worth of enmity between France and Germany. Good enough reason for the French to side with the Taliban, Pakistan, China, North Korea, and Vietnam.
  23. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book I can think of several reasons. Namely smarting after Germany taking a more central role in NATO and the UN especially after them losing two world wars. The rise of fascism in France which Germany opposes and the rekindling of the age old hatred with the Germans. How many centuries of war have been the result of this hatred between France and Germany?
  24. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book @penemue: I have 10 mega-corps with one being really evil and one being a good guy. Great suggestions for the security companies and I'll incorporate them. @kridenow: I can see France easily turning its back on the US and NATO. They ignored the sanctions against Iraq during the 1990's. Add in the fact that they were sending military equipment to Iraq during this time only shows that France can and will break with the US. The way I have France being portrayed is one of mistaken identity. However, before hell is unleashed France does prepare to overrun western Europe, but it's hard to determine who is the aggressor since the European nations are moving their troops to their borders. The only thing I can say is that you'll have to read about the full version of the history.
  25. Re: Inceptum Terminus World Book Updated the timeline based upon pen's suggestions. Enjoy.
