  1. I like the idea of the veritigo being bought as a dex drain instead of high presence. As for more info on the V.P.P. I limited his V.P.P. to the powers listed in the USPD under diminsional and cosmic energy powers I simply did not think that that was enough to merit a limitation.

Na he is not a lawer he only read and studied law in prison.

A for the lack of skills that is part of the idea most of the time a person would spend builing skills he spent doing nothing or lifting weights.

He was built to be a suport chraracter more so than a primary hero. As he is posted is a rough draft from some ideas I was talking to a friend about. So he will be finished and fleshed out.

Wyrm Ouroboros: His background ... leaves much to be desired, and has several flaws of logic (both real and game-world) that I itch to correct...

What corrections would you make? Afetr all to just say "This is bad" but not give reasons or ideas to fix it is not constructive.

But I think you are correct in that he could use more skills. However something to consider is are these skills you think he need things that a person would have learned in his situation? Alot of people could have ten to twenty skills but I believe more would only have the barest of skills out side their profesion.

  2. Game stor owners can also destroy a market.

Here in Burlington the owner of the local game stor speeks ill of HERO and only has one HERO book on his shelf the Champions Source book. So I imagine that the sales here will suck. While in Musoula Montana I found a game store owner who liked the game and as such recamended books to people and things like that.

  3. A second way of doing things would be

    Cost Power END
41 GET IN MY BELLY: Entangle 6d6, 6 DEF (Stops A Given Sense Group: Sight Group, Stops A Given Sense: Normal Touch), Movable area (+1/2) (112 Active Points); Feed Back: Refer to Force Wall (-1), No Range (-1/2), Cannot Form Barriers (-1/4) 11
    Powers Cost: 41
  4. I would build this as an EDM "My Belly" UAA with the fX sayingthe characters may return to normal buy "Breaking Free" witch would be done by a contested STR Body roll. Then you could buy STR with a -3/4 limitation only for holding people in by belly.

The reason I don't believe that escape by contested str roll would be worth points is because all UAA must have a reasonably common way to avoid them and as a GM I think I would allow this one for at least a test run.

  5. Hey all I just wanted to post a character to get your opinions. Would you allow him in a game of yours? If so what would you change? If not what would you change?P.S.: I know his CV is low but that represents his lack of experience with his powers & if you’re a person who just plain out laws V.P.P. then on that particular thing I will admit that I am not compromising as in our games they are encouraged as about the only way to simulate what most comic characters do with their powers.JerichoPlayer: Robert Towell

    Height: 5' 9" Hair: Raven
    Weight: 165 lbs Eyes: Brown
Appearance: As Jericho he is a well built man of middle height in his early 20?s with raven black hair, brown eyes and a demeanor that screams limitless. Almost always dressed in modest clothes Jericho has no money for good clothes and as such the only nice things he owns are illusions or manifestations of his powers.

While in his hero form Jericho surrounds himself in a force field that only adds to his already boundless presence. Looking at him for two long can be disorienting as the corona that surrounds him fluctuates with time.

Personality: Guilt stricken Jericho spends all of his spare time trouble shooting and looking to help others. This manifest in such a powerful manner he will go out of his way to help any one even people he sees as bad. (This does not protect super villains as he sees every one of them as nothing more than bullies picking on the week to gain a foot hold.)Quote:"I won't let them down, I have already failed once and I can?t do it again."Background: Jericho was born it Saudi Arabia to a wealthy Canadian oil tycoon. Growing up he had it all, money, education, culture and even sex. Then it all came crashing down during the second gulf war the Actinmyers lost a fortune followed by a hostile take over of the company. suddenly this 16 year old who's every wish was made real found that he could not order so much as a hamburger with out having to prove he had money first. The stress was too much he cracked. In the accident that followed as his powers manifested 2 people were killed and 24 were seriously injured. Jericho was guilt stricken he pled guilty to manslaughter and haply went to prison expecting to die there. Then he was pardoned. You see a young parole officer named Kathy Nashfinder had found his case to be a gross mistake and brought it to the attention of her father in law "Dwayne Jacobson" the Prime minister of Canada at the time so he pardoned Jericho Actinmyer. Jericho fought the pardoned convinced he was a danger to every one and every thing around him. However the law was clear once pardoned of a crime the defendant could no longer be held on that charge and so it is that Jericho decided to move to "America" and become a "Superhero" to this day Jericho still feels guilty and tries everything is his power to gain redemption not knowing the only true redemption is inside of himself.Powers/Tactics: Jericho?s powers seem to be primarily some from of illusion/manipulation powers and the UNTIL scientist spend alot of time having him do stunts for them. As yet they are primarily under developed and unfocused. As he grows, more definition and new ceilings will be discovered.Campaign Use:

I mean, what are your characters doing? fighting Gods?

Actualy YES they will be fighting demigods and things like that.

The players are all given 50 points in perks at the begginnning of the game also so they are now 400 total at play.

The game seems likeit will be so much fun the first game will be tomarro and I hope to get the players very excited and thinking hard.

The game will actualy be very political believe it or not. Ther mane goal will be to protect there Subject from invaders and maintane hold of their lands

  7. Although not as good as the Hulk this movie totaly rocked.

Every character with a name is a character from clasic literature. They are all but kicking characters of some sort or another running around in the latter part of the 1800's.

(I have already started making them using 350 as a base. And remember Allen was more than just a skilled normal. I would place both him and Thom at the end of Luck. As for Allen he also has the Blessings of africa so he cannot die which I would consider a significant power.)

I would say the complete instant out nature of this power would mean no cost would be to much as a GM.

Going with the continuos mind control set effect -1 plus requires ego +30 level -1/2 would be reasonable.

  9. I personally love the art. I am to often stuck with people who have one narrow view of what fantasy gamming is and covers like this as well as all art, is were the flavor for a game originates. After that it is up to the game master to make it bigger and better, but the root is always in the art.

The cover has many aspects from fantasy in along with that little edge of magic/power saying these are people above and beyond.

I would not have asked for more. I could have though it would have been nice to have a fully holographic cover depicting the beginning and ending of the confrontation. But they probably wont be doing that till well after smell-ovision and tactile-ovision becomes a popular & common technolagy.

  10. Hello I have been getting ready to run a 350 point fantasy game were the players all play the roles of the top thousand or so people on the planet, demi-gods, Arch Wizards and Dukes,

The game uses all the standard “Super Heroic†combat and the “Heroic†rules for advancement and spoils. So far the players are excited and I am excited.

Has any one else here started a 350 game as Fantasy? If so what did you do in your game, my theme is that the players are all members of the same court and they have roles to play out as the try to defend their people and advance the state. (We have a Knight Martial, a Life Wizard, and a Middle Nobility.)

  11. I have always done sleep as a END Drain I even feel the return rate represents the groggyness that would come afterwards.

So to get some one to sleep for a week I would use the extended retern rate then put a -1/4 limitation on it saying all points return at once. (I meen after all how limiting would it be?) Plus putting some one to sleep is basicly the same as defeating them anyways so you might want to OK this power with a GM.

    Emergencies baa

I would start using this as my standard attack power think of the crime control aspect when villains learn if you even here of them committing a crime you will hunt them down and KILL them out rite.

  13. Is their a way Rules legal to get Missile Deflection for melee attacks.

A look at the post “This is Really Frustrating Me†would give you an idea of the original topic.

Trying to keep it simple so as not to burn to much of your time. (Keep writing that grimore)

  14. As a game master I would consider it a viable option to allow the character to buy Missle Deflection and ad a +0 Modifier “Meleeâ€. I think this is an interesting topic I have not put much thought in to before. Although I have worked with the martial maneuver “Reversalâ€. That was easy as I used predefined abilities from the book.

P.S.: I wonder if Steve has time to reply to this with an idea of his or to put an answer in “Herophiles†in the next DH. As lowly gamers I imagine if we ask him he may respond so I will ask.

How dare you start this blasphemy. To even sigest some one touch someone elses die is akin to asking to break their leg for them... it is just plain wrong.

(All the luck would instantly fade and go to the offenders die of course.)

  16. One thing to consider is wether the followers belong to the fief or the characters. Many soldiers will follow the "True King" reguardless of his title while others will follow what ever ruler curently controls the land. (Iwould say most followers would cost the base points not the player.)

Player to GM-I shoot her between the eyes.

We were all pretty dumbfounded by this but oh well.

As the gamemaster of the cold blooded killer I can asure you their were both experiance and Karmic penalties. -3 to each.

(In my games I use a Karma System. Basicly the players get extra karma for doing good things, making the game enjoyable for others, being cinimatic and stuff like that. They looses karma for picking fights, being evil, or pissing me of.

Well 1 point of karma can be used to naturaly modify a die roll by 1 and three can be used to get a reroll. Negitive Karma I use to turn all those nice little threes and fours into fives so they don't get crits or make were if these miss by one or two points they miss altogether. Of course they could waste there positive karma if they want to make it a crit again or to hit again but hey.)

The way that I would make Husk would be to give him basic armor with the SFX of whatever material he is morphed into at the time. If the GM demands that that is to versitile for basic armor, then I will either put variable advantage on the armor or make an MP filled with the various forms that he was able to shift into, more to come as he gains EP.

Did I miss something is Husk a male now?

I have not read marvel comics in about two years and think that would be very stupid. But heck they redue and rune just about every character once anyway.

(With the "New" title "THE END" I hope they follow through and stop reduing heros.)

P.S.: You are all forgetting the mane advantage to her multiple formss... Healing to full health Trigger when shedding old skin.

I've given this idea some thought, and I think there is some merit to it. However, I think something is being overlooked here. The vast "gap" between 1 point Familiarity 8- and 3 point CHAR 9+ (CHAR/5) Skills basically exists only in Champions. For the vast majority of HERO characters whose primary characteristics are in the 8-13 range, the 3 point Skill will be 11- or 12- anyway. It's only when one jumps into the upper teens or higher that the spread begins to look overly large.

Let's look at what is really meant by 8- and 11-. 8- means a 25.9% chance of success. That's basically "I've seen it done, but I've never done it myself". Even a lowly 11- is a 62.5% chance of success; a 2.4X multiplication of the probability of successfully performing a task. And if the character's CHAR is higher than the baseline 10 then the percentage chance of success ramps up rapidly.

So here is my suggestion for a compromise:

    1 point = 8- Familiarity (25.9% chance of success)

    2 points = 10- (50% chance of success)

    3 points = 9+(CHAR/5) (62.5%+ chance of success)

The gap between a 1 point Familiarity and a 3 Point Skill is now filled with a 2 point "I've done it, but I'm not very good at it" level of skill that is almost twice a good as a Familiarity. And 3 points gets you "I'm pretty good (or amazingly good) at this." 10- is a step below true expertise, but it's a darn sight better than a mere 25.9% chance Familiarity.

And don't forget those modifiers such as Extra Time. Even a lowly 10- Stealth roll can look pretty good after a character has taken a minute to do it and found a dark noisy area to do it in half a block away. :)

O like this comprimise perhaps it will someday see D-Hero. or something.

  20. I agree hole heartidly.

I bought the book out of a general "Suport" motivations but once I started to read it I thought how could I have missed this book for so long.

It is amazing how I can go from "I guess it could be good for a newby" to "Holy crap I never thought to build that fx before this is cool as hell"

For an example read the Demnision control powers entangle discription. Standard power with no special rules and a litle flavor. This must be the single coolest power I have ever read and for this power alone did I make an entire character "Jericho"
