  1. The "on the other hand" of that kind of sponsorship is that if the team doesn't come off so well in the public eye....a character with Berserk attacks a cop, Viper frames the team for a bank robbery, an alternate universe version of your group busts up the downtown.

Whatever evil plotline the GM can come up with, all your neat toys can suddenly go away just when you need them most. Plus, if and when you do manage to clear your name there's no guarantee that those same easy going sponsors will return to the fold.

The replacement sugar daddy's may crack the whip a little more than you're used to since now they're the ones in charge and your Rep is as "damaged goods".

  2. Screenshot%202016-08-26%20at%208.35.29%2Close up with the Bat-shield

    1) Whenever I see SWAT teams with those man sized shields I always flash on this.

2). The LS vs extreme heat & cold are change at base only because I remember when they were fighting Mr. Freeze Batman saying to Robin something to the effect of "It's a good thing we wore our Bat-Thermal underwear today."

  3. I don't know of any.

Putting one together wouldn't be too hard. There are a bunch of builds based on cheesy TV characters around.

In some ways he wouldn't be particularly high powered. His opponents are normals, and not all that awesome either.

He seldom fails rolls, so some Overall Skill Levels would be wise. Martial Arts would be western style, and pretty minimal.

Obviously he has whatever skills and gadgets he needs. That could be a problem, but it can be worked around.

To do this, build scenarios around his character sheet. If he has Bat-Shark Repellent, he will encounter a shark. If he has an obscure knowledge skill, it will be relevant. The reverse doesn't really happen. He will seldom need something that he doesn't have.

In other words, he is the centre of his world, and doesn't really work outside that. That's fine. (He does, however, exist in the same world as the Green Hornet and Scooby Doo).

EDIT: I suppose you could call it the Batmanthropic principle.

Also according to the Batman '66 comic he exists along side the British Spy team The Avengers and The Men from U.N.C.L.E.

    General inspiration.

  4. I'd think you could modify a Batman write-up of whatever power level you needed.

Lose the Asian style martial arts in favor of classic comic book, with a few specialty moves based on throwing a willing partner.

Up the Batcave into a huge Vari-Pool changeable only at base, with the Utiltiy Belt it's own VP. Purchase absoloutly insane amounts of Luck. Just don't forget to take unprecidented levels of Precence to halt evil-doers in their tracks and help educate the citizenry about things like using seatbelts. (The show actually got an award from the national safety commission for putting in that shot of Batman & Robin buckling their belts in the Batmobile startup shots)

  5. While I don't have a problem with a racially diverse cast in movies and casting Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury has been fantastic and I have high hopes for Denzel Washington in the Yul Brenner role in Mag. 7, changing race or gender on a character just for the hell of it doesn't seem right.

An update of Doc Savage with the decendants of Doc & the team might be a lot easier to write and could use whatever actors worked best in the roles. Although I don't think a female version of Monk would be a great idea, someone of a different racial background or even orientation could still work fine.

  6. If you're going to use The Beverly Hillbillies as an example, you have to realize that Jed Clampett's land back in Tenn.was not only covered in oil deposits but in veins of radioactive ore. This accounts for the subtle mutations of the family who drank from the springs and ate crops from that irradiated water table.

Jed & Granny's longevity and vitality. Granny remembers the Civil War as a young girl and was able to perform feats of strength and agility no woman of her age should be able to perform. Jethro and his twin sister Jethrine both had extreme strength and invulnerability, fueled by incredible appetites. Elly Mae's ability to communicate with animals. There is also the idea that the mutated vegetation used in Granny's potions and Moonshine gave them their miraculous properties.

Y'all come back now. Ya hear?

  7. And several of us must be on Tjack's ignore as his answers make no sense regarding better uses for pizza.

Nah, I was still working on the Foxbat at the Dem & Rep conventions thing. Seems like everybody else had wisely moved on.

Never mix posting with muscle relaxants.

  8. A lot of people have pointed out that Sherlock Holmes is a good example of a high-functioning member of autism or Asperger's syndrome (in the most recent British series, he describes himself as a "high-functioning sociopath", which I think is an exaggeration).

An example of a true heroic sociopath is James Bond. MI6 has channeled his violent behavior so well that he gets depressed when he's not on a job.

For physical limitations, you need look no further than Professor Xavier of X-Men fame.

The TV show Monk is a version of Holmes in this way, the whole show is a subtle updating of the tropes.

  9. I am going to take such a beating on this, but sometimes in our desire to use the most delicate language we sacrifice clarity.

While I have the utmost respect for what you do, and compassion for your students and the difficult road they must travel. I can't quite make out what it is that you want.

Are you looking for examples of superhero characters who have physical and emotional disabilities like, Daredevil, Oracle or Hawkeye? To present your students with ideas for their own characters.

Are you seeking advice on how to write up characters with such disabilities? If so, I don't think you have to go much further than the dis-ads Phys Lim & Psych Lim and Enraged. Done of course with much more care and detail than the usual one or two word description.

The actual write ups would be easy, describing the real world is the tough part.

What ever help you need, I feel sure you'll find it here.
