  1. Based on some of the suggestions here, I am thinking of combing a few...She will receive good luck by causing bad luck on her opponents. She will also have the ability to create images based upon the worst fears of the person. Finally, she will have the ability to create a barrier, she will have mind defenses and a magic bolt to project. The more "good" luck she receives the more powerful she becomes. In order for her to be defeated, the Furies will have to reverse the karma. They should be able to do this in several ways. One of the heroines is a sorceress, Spellbound who will have a dispel power which can rid the effects of the bad luck. Another heroine, Portal is time traveler that can jump back into the past or future into short bursts, sidestepping the bad luck effects before they happen. I have yet to think of any ways in which the warrior angel character, Guardian Angel can overcome the effects on her own. She basically is combination of Wonder Woman and Shazam combined with a sword. Thanks all for your suggestions, once again all good ideas!
  2. All great suggestions, thanks! I think I have a better idea of how to make this villain...
  3. Hi all, I could use some help on an evil sorcerer that will be trying to resurrect a fallen supervillain. I am going to run an introductory adventure of the Furies (an all female superheroine group) against a sorcerer named Karma. I am thinking that Karma may have some powers that involve bad luck. However, I am still up in the air as to what else this evil sorcerer may have as far as powers in order to battle the Furies. She is going to break into the museum in order to steal the body of the fallen supervillain in order to resurrect him. Any one have any ideas on some powers she might have? Thanks for your help! 4. I love all these ideas, they are really well thought out! I think I am going to go with the name the Furies, which was suggested by Cassandra! Since the Furies were three female spirits of justice and vengeance. Sounds like a good description for our ladies' sg. I shared with one of them the name and the meaning behind it, and she loved it! Thanks all for your help! Shadow7
  5. Thanks for the replies, they have been very helpful and interesting! The name of the three characters are Guardian Angel (the leader), Portal and Spellbound. I suppose eventually that there is a possibility that male characters may join, if that happens the name could be changed, but I thought since it is rare to have an all female group formed that is why I am looking at the name to reflect that. San Angelo is a fictional city, it was a supplement that could be used for Champions much like Millennial City, however it is based on the West Coast in California where we are all living. Shadow7
  6. Hi all, Starting up another Champions RPG campaign with a bunch of new players who are new to RPG. As it happens all are women and playing female characters, and I wanted to offer some suggestions for a team name since they are all new to this. I am looking for a serious name that is not offensive, one that denotes strength but also may highlight the fact that it is an all female group. The characters consist of an angel warrior, a sorcerer, and a time traveler who can create portals to teleport through. They are based in San Angelo, CA. There are not many examples to draw from for this...except from FemForce, Birds of Prey, Fearless Defenders, and A-Force. Fearless Defenders is the closest in make-up to this team it would appear. Thanks for any suggestions you may give. Shadow7
  7. Not sure why people are so mean spirited. If you don't want to take part in a discussion, no big deal. But not sure why you have to be so dismissive to others who might....
  8. Sounds like a pretty cool team. An interesting mix of street level vigilantes and low powered superheroes!
  9. Often when I read a purchased adventure it will state this is best used with 4 - 6 PCs. So I began to think what is the perfect number for a PC party? I am currently running a campaign with 4 PCs. The number is very good to manage, and even if we were to add another member or two, I think we would be ok. What's the number that has worked for you? Has anyone tried more, like 8 to 10 PCs? Has anyone tried fewer like two or even gone solo with one PC in a Champions campaign? I know it can be done in Dark Champions! Just curious to hear what the perfect number is for your PC party. Thanks!

    GMPCs

In my campaign, my GMPC is named Nocturnal and is limited to only coming out at night. The PCs functioned well without him, but were actually rooting for his return, not because they needed his help (he is much weaker than the other PCs) but because he is well liked by them and considered a member of their team. In group discussions since we have two vocal PCs and two PCs who are more quiet, it's easy for him to remain in the background, and as of yet he hasn't been directly asked what he thinks, but often encourages the PCs if they come up with a decision.
  11. Since the Dark Champions game is so gritty and dark, when you find so few too play, have you ever had to run solo missions for players or do you create NPC vigilantes to balance it out?

    GMPCs

Howdy all, When I started my recent campaign I added a hero to the group of PCs because they were all new to the rules. Just wondering how many GMs or campaigns you have been involved in actually use GMPCs? This would be an NPC hero who is used for more than just in a scene or two, but actually counted as a member of the group of PCs and acts as a PC hero (although the character is controlled by the GM). Just curious to see what positive or negative experiences if any people have had with them. I know some people don't like them, while other people don't mind. I know for myself, I actually enjoy it since it gives me a chance to join the PCs in some of the action as a PC hero. It also adds to the number of heroes that we have in the PC heroes group, 5 heroes which is a better number for me than 4 heroes. What do other people think? Thanks!
  13. I created an NPC hero to help the PCs who are all new to the game. His name is Nocturnal, and he is a "resurrected" hero who has returned back from the dead and is looking for redemption for his past sins. Since he can only come out at night or places of darkness, he truly is Nocturnal.
  14. One of the most clever heroes I have ever seen was a player who loved Disney. One of his characters was the Hitchhiking Ghost from the Haunted Mansion. Don't remember all of his powers, but one of the best hero creations I have ever seen!
  15. Although I tried this post idea in the Dark Champions forum and got no response, I wanted to try it here.... I have always been impressed with the clever and original ideas people come up with for their superheroes. What is your most favorite/interesting hero that you have created? I am always looking for new ideas.....thanks!
  16. Howdy all, I saw a post in the Champions forum about favorite superhero team names, and it got me thinking what's your favorite street vigilante from a Dark Champions campaign, either that you have played or that you have ran as a GM. What's their name and their origin story? Why are they so memorable? My favorite street vigilante from Dark Champions is Kiss of Death. Dayanara Sloane is a wealthy socialite by day and a crime-fighter at night. She is the daughter of a mob lawyer, who was accidentally killed by another vigilante Nocturnal (who happens to appear as an NPC in another Champions campaign) in a battle with the mob. He warned Dayanara not to follow in her father's footsteps. Soon, Nocturnal is ambushed and killed. Inspired by his example and ashamed of her father's involvement, Dayanara becomes a vigilante herself to avenge his death and to continue the battle against the mob. This campaign actually exists in another existing Champions campaign, but the adventures of Kiss of Death are more centered on street level threats. Thanks, looking forward to hearing about other street vigilantes.
  17. Howdy all, Still new to GMing a campaign with four new players. I am always looking for new and clever ideas for campaign story plot lines, anyone care to share what was your best or most interesting adventure that you took part in either as a GM or as a player? Thanks!
  18. The campaign I am currently GMing right now centers on a team of superheroes called the Excelsiors. The name is in honor of Stan Lee's motto, Excelsior. The team is based in Los Angeles and was formed by the Mayor of LA to protect the city from superpowered threats, including eventually the Protectors (Protect and Serve). The team is currently made up of 4 PCs (Stars & Stripes, Maiden Mystic, Soul Surfer and Chimera) and is allied with an NPC hero who can only come out at night (Nocturnal) who acts as a guide since the PCs are all new to playing RPG.
  19. Hi all, I am soon going to be introducing a group of British NPC heroes into my Champions RPG campaign. This is a campaign which involves a superhero team based in Los Angeles named the Excelsiors (my tribute to Stan Lee!) I wanted to make it sound as authentically British as possible, so I am reaching out to those who either live in the UK or who have a good knowledge of it for help. One idea I was leaning toward as far as a team name was the Royal Guard. Although I would be open to other ideas. Right now the team will consist of either 4 or 5 members The Leader is named Lion's Heart The other members include....Nightmare (a British female version of Batman), Master-at-arms (a cyborg hero) and Full Throttle (a speedster), not quite sure on that name, is Full Throttle used in the UK? The Villain would be someone trying to take over the world named Lord Ravage Attached below is the figurines of the heroes.... Any ideas? Thanks for your help and advice. Shadow7

  21. I know it's been awhile since this thread was active, but I recently started Super Heroes campaign with a bunch of friends...since the rules for the Hero System was too complicated for everyone to pick them up, I decided to use the LARP rules from Champions game without actually doing the role-playing or the dress up. Although the rules sometimes need to be adjusted with each mission, it has actually been really fun. We have now finished three missions. I have always found that the Super Heroes genre is the most appealing because it sets the characters in real present time pitting them against real life events or situations. Since all of the PCs are new, and I didn't want to just exclusively GM, I decided to add a NPC hero to the superhero group that serves as a quasi-member. His name is Nocturnal and since part of his story is that he can only appear at night, it prevents him from taking over for the PCs, but at the same time giving them a guide to help them out and a chance for me to play a little as well. This month we will be finishing (hopefully) our first campaign series, and I am looking at offering two campaign missions to the PCs that will overlap each other and lead to the other mission that they didn't choose at first. Since the PCs weren't familiar with the whole character creation, I actually created their characters based upon their personalities and their interest. As funny as this may sound, it is scary how quickly the characters have resembled their PCs, to the point we in the group call each other by our Super Hero names for fun! Since most of the characters are standard Super Hero characters, we don't really have a problem with the adventure resembling street vigilantes out for blood, more of a Justice League or Avengers type of feel to heroes gathered to protect their city in this case, the city of Los Angeles. At the end of this first series (4 sessions), I am looking towards awarding my PCs with some experience points to help them grow in their powers, probably between 3-5 pts, depending upon involvement and creativity. Anyone have any advice on how to give meaningful xp without giving too much? The campaign involves 4 PCs. Thanks!
  22. Greetings all, Since the San Diego Comic-Con has just passed, it always interesting to see all the Cosplayers and their unique and detailed costumes. Recently, I came across a book entitled Champions Live Action Role-Playing or Champions (LARP). This book gives details and rules to a live action form of RPG, with the participants actually dressing up in costume, and playing out the scene. It sounded like a real extensive project, and listed some of those likely to participate in this type of event would be Cosplayers. Has anyone every participated in one of these events, or witnessed one done? Just curious to know. Are there any groups out there that organize such an activity or even run a campaign in such a way? Thanks for any info or input. Shadow7
  23. I am thinking since he is only developing his powers, he can only stretch his limbs and his body. He can't change shape yet, and but he can bounce. He is very shy, and he feels his powers are rather useless....he feels a bit like a freak.
  24. Greetings all, I am putting together a team of teen superheroes and I have come up with 6 members of the supposed 7 that I want. The team is based on the West Coast near the city of Los Angeles and is called the Signal Hill Sentinels. The character is a boy who is able to stretch. The rest of the team is the following: Diva (sonic powers) Chimera (animal shape-shifting) Full Throttle (super-running) Maiden Mystic (magic powers) Prime (enhanced strength and resistance) Swiss Miss (healer) Thanks for your help and any other suggestions.... The Signal Hill Sentinels defend the City of Angels against a super-villain known as the Monarch and his Reign of Terror. Since the team is made up of teenagers, they are still learning their powers and their powers are limited.
  25. Greetings all, As I stated in my post in the Dark Champions section, I am new to these forums. I played hero roll playing games many years ago, and more recently got interested in it again with City of Heroes and Champions on-line. Would eventually love to join a group in playing Champions RPG especially any groups in Southern California if I could eventually understand all the rules and find the time. In the meantime, I wanted to start this post to see what creative ideas on heroes we could come up with in putting together a team of superpowered heroes based on the West Coast especially in Southern California. This team would be called the California Guard and protect the Golden State from all threats especially those of the superhuman form. If you are interested in participating in this discussion, give a shout out with your hero and name along with the powers that they would have. Would love to see what ideas, we can come up with in this discussion and where the idea might actually go..... I will start.....my character is a mystical character with light based powers named Veritas. He can radiate light from his body to a blinding effect, shoot light energy blasts from his hands and eyes, heal, fly and completely devoid all light from his body causing him to become invisible. Being a mystical hero, he has received his powers from God and tries to uphold good, avoiding to kill anyone in the process.... Please share your ideas on your heroes, and thanks for participating in this topic, I always love to hear the creative ideas of others especially in regards to their own unique heroes, origins and powers.....
