  1. Is it allowed for a character to buy the Derflection power with an autofire advantage (3 shots) and how would that work: Does he get 3 chances (blocks) to stop a single ranged attack only or Can he attempt to block up to three ranged attacks and if so must the attacks be targeting the same location or nearby or could he block one attack 10m to the right, another 10 m to the left etc. or could he do either as the situation permits. I ask because area effect advantages were discouraged Thanks Indy523
  2. This is true but if we are only talking about mind scan then if the subject in question has mental defense high enough to beat the mind scan roll is that not the same thing as invisible because the power failed? Just asking not sure how the rules work on that.
  3. What you seem to be doimg is to create fake minds to fool a mentalist.. The 1m radius would mean you are creating one mind that a mentalist mind scanning would pick up. If the mentslist is fooled by the image then they could waste time mindreading (telepathy), Mind controlling or mental illusioning the fake mind which if it reacts appropriately could fool them more. To appear to be a copy of a specific mind the character who creates the image would have to nave mental awareness to know what minds look like in the mindscape and would have to have seen that mind or somehow know it. Some kind of mental disguise roll might be needed, etc. to strengthen the image. Not a bad idea however you might need to hide or alter the mind being copied or two versions of the target would be In place. Mental Defense essentially reduces the total points of the dice roll for creating an effect, This would be misdirection. A neat trick with this is a trigger advantage. Each time a mentalist looks for or uses a mind power on a character with lots of mental defense and fails then the power activates and the enemy mentalist sees his power affecting the targets mind but it is an illusion. The mind he sees is a fake. Perfect for telepathy, Is this guy an assassin trying to murder the king, no just a baker going to market. Another option is to megascale the area and make it appear there thousands of minds in the area to make searching by mind scan harder,
  4. Remember if your goal is not to hurt the people inside then you have to allot for a controlled backwards slide that slows the car at a constant rate that does not damage it or what is inside. Catching a car and stopping it immediately would still generate 100 plus g forces even if only for an instance. This might take a dex roll or related skill roll to pull off.
  5. DasBroot That is definitely a plan and it works except in concept. Spirits have no body. But those rules are not 6e. So closest in 6e to a spirit is the 72 point inherent always on Desolid. Thinking about possession I think I might house rule it this way for games with ghosts. Possession does not attack the body in the real world but the soul in the spirit world. Essentially wrestling it to take over so no +2 ARW advantage. However, while most possessed spirits are trapped if the victim involved is a monk, cleric or sorcerer trained in the magical arts of spiritualism then the victim could have spirit senses bought dimensionally and drains and mental powers bought affect spirit world +1/4A which they could use in the spirit world even if wrested from their bodies as a nasty surprise. I tbink this makes it playable and balanced.
  6. Cantriped Uner the old spirit rules a spirit had no senses that affected the real world. He had sight, hearing etc. but no ability to see normal people or places unless he bought it trans-dimensional. For this particular character I created a sense that allowed him to Sense potential and kinetic energy only, targeting, tracking, discriminatory and trans-dimensional so that the sprit could locate the complex clockwork automatons. That was what I meant. Sorry for the confusion! PS spirit characters were not indestructible. Any drain that lowered either Intellect or Ego to zero killed or rather destroyed them. And the spirit could always be attacked by those that could see them. As a villain the hook for the party was that pummeling gadget to pieces only slowed him down. Eventually they had to figure out how to take him down for good!
  7. Karma The idea was a character that never really died. The spirit was limited to machines. The only real world powers were affecting machines mind control or shifting spirit into a host. Per game terms the only sense he had was aether sense that allowed him to see both kinetic and potential energy (clock work style). In true steam punk style he was plasma energy in a vacuum tube that was plugged into the steam system of the automaton that allowed him to bond with it but most machines with computers he could link with. I experimented with three ways of doing it. The spirit body can du little except to escape however a voodoo priest with a soul eating spell could do him in, Most of the time though he lives in his robot bodies. Lucius I may have to build as an AI with possession machines only. Set it up the automatons as computers with no ego and the mental defense has a lim Not on those who know the passcode. Allowing him to slide in. How is recovery done for a computer that has intellect drained. I would think for that you need that skill, Problem is to go to real world you have to have the +2A somewhere. Still even with the old rules he was a 500 point character to do right I e have all I envisioned he could do. Good for villain .that always comes back but nit PC, Oh well......
  8. I am not sure Full End & Stun is meaningful. I would suggest describing to yourself in non game lingo how it works. Is it a stick that magically knocks people out and not having to sleep is a defence, Fine then maybe other defenses are just woke up within the hour. The prior recent trip to the sandman's domain thwarts the magic. If instead it is knowing how to hit someone in the right place ala a Vulcan Neck pinch and those not requiring sleep have different brains/anatomy etc. then a good one might be wearing jackets with hoods around the necks or turtle neck sweaters and thus the intellectual college graduate student and children whose mothers made them dress warm in the snow would be immune to your power. Ok the last is tongue in cheek but you get ny point right?
  9. Hi I am trying to redo a character I did using the old Horror rules in 6e. This was a character that was a Spirit from the Clockwork dimension who possessed Automatons called Gadget. Spirit characters had only DEX, INT, EGO, PRE, OCV/DCV, OMCV/DMVC and REC. With no bodies they had no Stun/Bod Str or Con or related stats. Every power had to be bought no end and all powers including senses such as sight had to be bought Affects Real World +2A. Using Shift Spirit this character could move in and out of robot bodies built for him. Any rate the new APG has Possession and Desolid Projection but this is way too expensive and clunky. Desolidification is No End +1/2A, Persisitant +1/2A, Inherent +1/4A, Always on-1/4L which is 40 * (1+1.25) = 90 / (1+.25) =72 points Possession from APG is Affects Real World +2A, No End +1/2A or 210 points. It s 180 if you assume the spirit pays for the cost but then you have the weird explanation as to how disembodied spirits tire.4 Either way this leaves 282 points just for these powers plus despite making the spirt desolid it according to the rules still has a body outside to worry about. Is there a way to do this, I guess heap on the limitations but still ??? Does Possession require Affects Real World? Any rate your ideas would be appreciated
  10. Here is a question What does lowering the characteristic MAxima do? I don't know the rules but.... Suppose each time you use the power you get sicker and this results in your Character MAximum STR reducing from say 20 to 19. In game you might lost a point of STR or be able to spend the extra XP to buy it above the new max of 19. Either way the body is getting close to zero and lets say the character at 0 str maxima is bed ridden and you really notice it at say five or less, hard to walk, activation rolls to use STR when needed etc. In this way your character is "dying" and is worried about each point loss from using the power but it has no game effect till say 15. In the meantime he can research a "cure" and buy this off. I think I agree this is a complication although given it forces you to lose your character if you play it like this (this assumes you have to use that power to be the HERO you are). However if the power is only needed rarely then the points are worth less. Depends.....
  11. I would like to make a spirit that can Jump into Clokwork automatons by possessing them. I am using the old spirit rules where spirits have only DEX, INT, EGO & PRE OCV/DCV, OMCV/DMCV Speed Recovery Attacks are only drains & transforms, etc. A Possession Power would be Possession 60 points minimum Cost No End+1/2, Affect Real World +2A for 210 points. Using projection rules Desolid 40. Cost No End +1/2A, Persistant +1/2A, Inherent +1/4A for 90 points. The character could do nothing else. Is Affect Real World required for possession or is it assumed?
  12. Hi What I would like to see are the "limits"to Godly powers due to agreement of the gods or other things. For insance if a God goes to earth his Avatar is much more limited and not omnipotent as he might be in the dimension that is the Realm of the Gods, O;y,pus, Asgard erc. Also I'd ;ike the rules to cover sons of deities uncovering their powers. Certain powers can be used but not for certain effects. For instane Zues cannot just hit Persues with a lightning bolt from heaven and kill him but can give limited magic items to his enemies, etc.
  13. Hi there If you treat the AI as a spirit from the old rules then you can have the AI Shift Spirit into each vehicle. The 6th edition version would be to use possession. You could set the vehicles up as automatons with INT and no Ego. Mind control vs machines would be effective as they would have no EGO. To be fair if this is a PC you should treat the AI as a Spirit. Thus these powers have to be bought with the Affects Real World, a +2 Advantage which is pricy. The spirit world the AI lives in is not Astral Space but the Matrix. I combine the following advantages and limitations together. Affects Cyber World +2A Must connect via Network (USB, Ethernet cables, WiFi) -1/4L Can only affect Automatons or Computers w/o EGO, no AIs -1/2L ICON: creates a Focus in the Matrix and can see in Matrix or real World simultaneously +0L Concentration 1/2 DCV, Continuous Must be applied to ICON or MEAT body at character's choice -1/2L TRACE: Digital footprints can lead to character's Meat location & what was done, allowing interference from real world (i.e. connection cut), etc, -1/4L All of this combines to Matrix Access a +1/2A The spirit is not limited in the Matrix so does not need that set. To control a turret or vehicle however Affects Real World +2A Exists in the Network (no need for USB, Ethernet cables, WiFi ) -0L Can only affect Automatons or Computers w/o EGO, no AIs -1/2L ICON: creates a Focus in the Matrix and can see in Matrix or real World simultaneously +0L Concentration 1/2 DCV, Continuous Must be applied to ICON or MEAT body at character's choice -1/2L Can only affect real world if the device is "smart" and attached to the Network -1/2L This is Connect to Real World +1/2A for AI spirits. Finding Programs or Seeing the Matrix is done using Mind Scan. Some networks are not online and access would have to be gained physically such as possess a drone and install a wireless router or pay some MEAT entity to do it for them. The Partial Effect -1/2 limitation should be bought which gives out +1 DMCV or more for successful EGO rolls to account for Firewalls. Attacks in the Matrix are all LOS Based on OMCV/DMCV or Mental Attacks. Programs usually have Mental defense which represent security or AV that can be circumvented by knowing the passcode, etc. Attacks on programs are Drain Intellect or Dispels however they are AVAD Mental Defense +0L as the standard. . Mental Illusions can spoof IP addresses. A duplicate can be created to increase number of functions. Powers must be bought no end or an endurance battery must be supplied. In this case control of an automaton in the real world happens via Mind link, Possession or Mind Control. Mind Scan is your search engine, Mental Awareness (Matrix) your IO port and Drains, Suppresses, Dispels, Mental Illusions are Security/ Black hat/Anti Virus programs. One could also use Transform bought OMCV vs DMCV as malware to rewrite code. Changing the limitations and advantages to one modifier allows these kinds of Matrix powers without jacking real world prices to the +2A or more level. If hackers are rare then this might not be allowed and real point costs stay extreme but if not then this is a good system for the GM.
  14. Hey thanks for the Welcome! Here is one way to do a Timestop power (naybe) that does not break the game. i Character Rapid x10as a 5 speed and 16M normal walking. Half move being 8m. Time Port Character stops time by stepping perpendicularly sideways to it and can walk around for one turn. All solid matter is immovable and indestructible since time cannot move forward or backwards. Therefore pushing o something is no use because Force is mass times acceleration but nothing can accelerate without a time interval. Device requires a cane OAF-1L Charges bought as Naked advantage though cane a1 75 points First Power is Teleport 40" Safe Blind, position shift, no relative velocity, aqueous T-port (75) {40m is five 8m half moves - character walks around and appears five moves later} limitation: character must be physically able to walk to end point raised from -1/4L to -1/2L because all solid matter is an immobile barrier. If a door is closed for instance there is no way into the building, etc. Second Power Clairsentience Sight Group, Multiple sensors x4 also bought, discriminatory, rapid x10, analysis, bought as a sense. Also bought retrocognition only the previous last one turn of phases etc.as if id. Must be physically able to walk to each sensor
  15. Ah now I must buy more books, well played. Seriously though thanks for the responses.
  16. Hi Everone Saw Avengers II and was wondering if there was a balanced way to make a Quicksilver character? I speak of the scene where he speeds to unable to be seen and walks around at his leisure repointing weapons, tying shoes together etc. and then slows down as everyone in the room attacks each other. Asimilar power is done in a Star Trek TOS where hyperspeed aliens speech sounds like a whining insect. You could use the Advanced Players Speed 18 in a game with avg speed 5 but that seems way unbalanced. Maybe by a normal speed like 4 and purchase another +4 speed with a limitation (only to move or make minor adjustments) -1/2L Cost end =1/2L He gets his normal 4 speed. Then if he paid the end at the beginning of the round he can get four phases where he can move where a gun is pointed, move a person's direction, place trash cans in the air in front of somebody etc, Because he is moving so fast he cant be seen then he cannot attack except maybe once as the contact is too brief, large objects in motion while stopped for the character have inertia. So a wrecking ball in mid swing might be able to be pushed a few degrees off the front arc as this is with the motion but to push it backward still requires the STR to do so in motion. Another use of powers is to say buy lightning reflexes up to 50 or so and then buy invisibility to all senses including touch to simulate too fast to move. The limitation is only on those with Dex less than 1/2 the character. Thus an 20 Dex brick would not be able to see but if he pushed his Dex 10 points to +5 Dex total hiould s Dex would be 25 and he could see the character to attack him. What are some ways to make this power in 6e. Indy523
