  1. Re: WWYCD: <Your character>: The Clone Saga!! "After defeating another convoluted “experiment” run by the master of genetics Teleios, your character and their team (if applicable) are cleaning out the mad scientist’s base and and come across a pod containing a most unusual item. Your PC, or at least an exact duplicate of them. They are currently in an induced coma but can be easily awakened. If they are or they’re mentally scanned that have the exact memories of the PC, including intimate details of their lives in precise detail up until 4 months ago. At that time the duplicate remembers being attacked while alone then nothing at all. The character doppelganger is physically identical the PC, including all scars, birthmarks, fingerprints, etc and their mind shows no obvious evidence of telepathic scanning. In fact, it seems impossible to tell the clone from the original… " Version One doesn't have scars, or moles or distinguising marks of any kind. Version One isn't too surprised there's a copy of him, after all he's a genetically engineered lifeform and so could be replicated, with a lot of work. Of course he's also a cyborg and magically enhanced so whoever made the copy had accesss to a LOT of skills. The only person V1 can think of that would be able to pull it off is his creator. This is a lead to who that is and what that nefarious scheme he's up to now. Whatever it is it's probably not good, the creator considers not working for him a capital offence. If he's got one V1 clone maybe he has others, some with memories that don't make him such a nice guy. Maybe Teleios just got the copy from The Creator's lab. Or maybe he is the creator, in which case there might be information on how to stop these damn headaches! That would be good. The headaches are really bad and nobody has the experience in cybernetics, thaumaturgy and genetic engineering to actually fix them. V1 has serious intergration problems you see. Most of V1's memories aren't his but were implanted so that he didn't have to go through the process of learning things before being able to function. But how did the clone get the memories of after that? That the other's clones have the same memories reassures him that his brain wasn't somehow bugged by his creator at decanting. Still it's disturbing. Now there will be two people running around with all Vibroman's memories of his wife, and thus his deep, heartfelt, romantic, and yes, very sexual love for her. Three if VM is still alive. V1 decides that the best way to deal with two of him suffering unrequited love is is to get drunk. And since V1a (as he christens his new best friend) will be feeling the same way he invites him. But only after he finishes redoing all the security for the team base, etc.
  2. Re: How do I make a "clearable jam" power? Well no, that covers powers that "won't work for the rest of the adventure" if they jam.
  3. Re: Re-Imaged Hero(ines) So does Quicksilver still control the body or is it toast? And how big can it grow now?
  4. Re: WWYCD: "I, For One, Welcome Our New Insect Overlords" Version One declares that he will not recognise their sovereignty over any country simply handed over. Without a fair, _monitored_ plebescite they are no more than illegal aliens* and their forces may be attacked if they try to enforce their illegal "laws". He encourages governments and superheros to sign the same declaration. He also points out that as the founder of the first interstellar earth food restuarant he is quite prepared to provide meat at any of their convenient locations or even do take out, so clearly they don't need to take over countries to get beef. Either they were previously ignorant of our wide range of reasonably priced cuisine, in which case they can stop asking to take over countries, or they want more than they're letting on. He campaigns hard in the countries that seem likely to agree to the deal, emphasising how easy it is to get earth food without needed to take our governments. Meanwhile the team uses their spaceship to send word of this to the rest of galatic civilisation and try to learn about what the Mantii are really all about. When they start issuing ultimatums he revises the declaration to read "free, monitored and uncoerced" plebescites and declares war officially on the Mantii. * He's a refugee himself so he got in under the asylum rules.
  5. So for instance a techno-genius can use any computer operated system without making any RSRs or activation rolls?
  6. Re: "Naked Advantage" And of course there were "Bulletproof Nudity" rules for cinematic campaigns in Gurps which made partly or fully unclothed people (especially females) harder to hit. The cinematic rules also had the best name for a rule I've ever seen the "Imperial Stormtrooper marksmanship academy" rule, which stated that when the players were fired on from surprise the first volley always missed, landing close enough to let them know they were being fired upon, but never harming them.
  7. The idea is a weapon or other device that jams but can be cleared with the appropriate action (possibly needing a skill roll). The best I can come up with is Variable limitation (Activation Roll; or Extra Time) so if the roll fails you have the option of changing to the Extra Time limitation. That doesn't sound right though, since you can't change the limitation instantly like that. Wait I just thought of something! how's this, a variable limitation with (Limited power: Only if the last shot didn't jam [should be about the same as the Activation Roll] and Extra Time and/or RSR)? So for example: Old Semi-auto pistol: RKA 1d6 Activation OAF, roll 14- (-1/2), Variable Limiation: (Limited Power: Last shot worked (-1/2), RSR: (weaponsmith(guns) or mechanics)), Real Weapon, Active cost 15, real cost 5. If the gun fails it's activation roll the character has to spend a phase switching to the RSR. The next shot he rolls the RSR and the activation roll to see if it works this time. Additionally is there any way to get a Side Effect that doesn't always happen on powers that always work? I'm thinking of something like a bazooka that doesn't always knock you off your feet, something like that.
  8. Re: Help making this power Oh that's so sneaky! All the villian has to do is "heal" the characters some time before they go on a long trip to take out some distant base. By the time they get there they're feeling the pain and have the choice to go back or go in understrength.
  9. Re: Name That Band Hero! How did they get there powers? Well "It's a kind of magic" Queen of course (it's one of the few I got).
  10. Re: WWYCD?--"I'm not crazy...or anything." Ok, Version One, the thaumaturgically, cybernetically and genetically enhanced martial artist asks him to sit down quietly while he finds a mentalist. While ML is sitting down V1 gets every member of the team to surreptitiously observe him to make sure it IS ML. Can't be too careful. If it isn't and the brain scans are OK he tells ML that he has saved dozens/hundreds/thousands of lives (as appropriate) and though he might not think he's doing the right thing they do. V1 tells him that he (V1) has no choice in about superheroics, his mind was made up for him. Made up of various mind an evil genius had around the place. The most influential mind was Vibroman whose ethical codes he inherited and who never had any doubts about SH-ing. ML has a choice. He can continue helping and saving enormous numbers of people or he can choose a different purpose. With ML's skills there are thousands of things he could do. The world is litterally full of worthwhile things ML is capable of achieving, so talk of suicide doesn't make a lot of sense. If ML choose to change his life that's his right, he has a right to do that which makes him happy. But if he is going to abandon 'the cause' remember something. Without people like ML everyone would be like V1, not able to choose their own morality, their own causes, their own lives. Super villains would come to control all of that. So choose what's right for you, but don't think you weren't valued. And if you leave, remember you're welcome back anytime.
