  1. Re: How to make a sword who weilds you. No they stay as they are, it doesn't even control their thoughts, only their actions while they bear it. Since it has telepathy it can even opt to let them put it down if they have a legitimate objection to be a puppet (not wanting to be put in danger after you signed up to be it's puppet voluntarily knowing it was dangerous is not a legitimate objection). I imagine that it is relatively ethical about who it takes control of, typically offering benefits for being the wielder for a year (you get to be a hero, pay back the sword for helping save your village etc.).

  3. Re: WWYCD: Out of cash I'm not sure my character would do it but why not simply contact the local loan shark? Depending on how much you need (he probably can't go over $100K without authorisation from a bigger boss) he can fix you up right there. Then once you've saved the town/country/world, just ask explain how much it cost you financially and the general public for financial reinbursement.
  4. I'm trying to make a FH character who's a sword that can possess the user. However it seems to be rather expensive. What should I use, mental Transform or simply Mind Control? How big is the limitation for Aid "Only to person possessed by me"?
  5. Re: I got some players!!!.... But I need some help.. "A GM may define which Limitations characters use to satisfy the variable limitations;" HERO SYSTEM FRED p309. Just make a limited list of what limitations he can take and at what level. Make it short enough to be hard to abuse and quick to use but long enough for meaningful variation.
  6. Re: Okay here is my soup, needs some more spices? Well if the players actually save the mall-goers then they might not feel as used. After all they still have the opportunity to get the plutonium back. Well the GM should give them such an opportunity. There might be someone in the mall (maybe one of the PCs maybe a bystander) who enough knows about the plutonium to speculate about how it could be stolen and therefore where it probably is. Since there is no time to inform/convince the authorities (who are in classic "Die Hard" tradition completely wrong about everything) they'll have to race to retrieve the lethal stuff. If you really want them to feel cheated have them find the Plutonium only to find out it's not weapons grade or even commercial grade. Someone was ripping off the government and using VIPER to cover it up!
  7. Re: where do the villains get the MONEY? "It's in the abandoned warehouse district."
  8. Re: Is Flight Slow? Let's see, 300 rounds/hour = 1500 Phases/hour * 30"/Phase = 45000"/hour or 90 km/hr. Divide by 1.6 approx. = 56.25 MPH. Ok, sure that's not that fast, but remember you spent over a quarter of those points being able to act almost twice as fast as combat veterans. Plus this is combat speed. Add in some multipliers and you're way fast.
  9. Re: Vacuum Expossure Training Worried about sudden catastrophic failure of your hull? Don't go around with bulky uncomfortable helmets on all the time use the Price rapid deployment life support collar. Inflated clear plastic Allplast bags are held in place by a combination of clamps and air pressure. When pressure drops below 40% of normal the clamps fail and the bags deploy and lock together forming an airtight seal. A small air reservoir provides enough air for few minutes work. Standard air feeds can be attached to provide longer survival times. Price technologies, because you need a future and we've got a good one.
  10. Re: Vacuum Expossure Training I started to do a thing on how firing a gun would be good. But it's not, because the momentum of the recoil has to be less than your arm can handle (or your limbs go flying). Throwing something is definitely better. If you're really desperate (say you got sucked out the airlock without your helmet and nobody will be looking for you for 5 minutes) just cut the feed to your air tank and you can really zip along.
  11. Re: My first Terran Empire Campaign idea... Or he has no connection to the planet at all. This could be a "proof of concept" test that's designed to implicate his corporate/political rivals in letting death row inmates escape if it's discovered. He is impersonating the father of one of the survivors. If she is saved he'll deliver an anonymous note to the real father to go along with the story in return for getting his daughter back and covering up what really happened. He can fake being daddy for a single meeting. If the mission is not discovered then he knows that the system works and he can start using it to do his own dirty work. Or maybe the work isn't really "dirty" it's just pretty much illegal. He could actually be a good guy trying to run a secret society of do-gooders. If he is there's a lot better chance he won't simply kill the characters to cover up the project.
  12. Re: My first Terran Empire Campaign idea... This guy better be offering free plastic surgery and fingerprint alteration (at least, best he throw in genetic as well). If not he's obviously going to throw us out the airlock on the return trip. Even if he does it's 50/50 he'll do it anyway. Unless the setting isn't like that? I don't know the TE. The characters should make sure they specify they're only doing one job otherwise they're in for life.
  13. Re: Alternate Universe: No Industry, No Guns
  14. Re: I Want To Go Home! So how did a harvest god get to be so good at trading? And if she's leaving anyway why are the local priests bothered? Are they suffering under the delusion that she's evil/against their religion? Is she in fact evil? Is she leaving because they won't make the "good sacrifices" i.e. virgins?
  15. Re: where do the villains get the MONEY? One thing that supervillains could do well is protection rackets. After all if you've been seen going toe to toe with a superhero the local pimps, casino operators and other criminal enterprises would rather not annoy you. Don't bother to intimidate the local legitimate businesses, just tell the racketeers who do they owe you 10%. Of course you should make sure no supervillain is already doing this and that the local gangs don't have a supervillain on the payroll. Or you could simply offer to work for the local protection racket on a "make the occasional appearance and be on call" basis. Either way it should be good for routine expenses while you plan the big heist that actually makes your profits.
  16. Re: What gives the "rightful" king the right? Of course if you marry the daughter of the man you desposed your son probably is the legitimate king either way. She might be a little reluctant after what you did to dad, but sometimes women can be... persuaded to be pragmatic. From memory the japanese film "Ran", based on King Lear had a wife to one man who still hated him years after she married him because of exactly this.

    Debriefing

Re: Debriefing Version One would inform her that he's technically only two years old and therefore it would be statutory rape. Even if she could get the law changed he couldn't give her his heart (most of his memories are transfers from Vibroman and he thus got a lot of his personality, including love for Vibroman's wife).
  18. Re: Chocolate Orc Their natural enermy is the D20 player, can't resist something delicous and XP-filled.
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...:rofl: Priceless. Simply Priceless. Yeah that got rid of him, but really he should have asked for how long. I mean if he's showing up 15 minutes later you'd be ... pissed!
  20. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Ok, you just put an underbarrel grenade launcher on your pistol. It's officially time to admit you need a rifle. Or possibly pyschiatric help. Miniguns, ideal if your contract includes a cost-plus on ammo.
  21. Re: Cool Guns for your Games God helps those that help themselves.
  22. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Unfortunately this site doesn't give much technical information besides calibre and barrel size. The pocket pistol seems to have been 6 shot (http://www.ingenting.f2s.com/download/RevolvrarPistoler.pdf) and .31 cal. 3 1/2 inch barrel. Which is a nice pocket pistol considering how concealable it would have been compared to revolvers.
  23. Re: People with Powers Remember the schizophrenics are getting what they want, and mostly they want people/things to stop bothering them. They don't want their delusions to become real because they think they already are. The only problem would be if some of them wanted other people to believe in them. That would prove they're not crazy after all. Most of all they'd want the power to defeat whatever they thought was acting against them. They might even become superheroes. Especially if those that spend more than 50% of their time battling things others can see.
  24. Re: People with Powers And not just from escapes. "I can grow foot long razor sharp claws and I don't bleed anymore. Who's the bitch now?" There will be a period of readjustment of "political" power to the realities of "military" power inside the prisons. I'd estimate a 25%-75% fatality rate amoung current gang leaders. In many cases this is not such a bad thing. Hell you might even get people breaking IN to settle scores with inmates. Ayrian Nation for instance has pissed off a LOT of people.
