Re: Do Game Time Cards Expire?
Yar, what Certified said.
After playing a few of the new Alerts, I've decided I'm just going to go ahead and use the cards when I get them. My main is the Inventor archetype, and while it's decent, it could be better as a freeform. Plus the Archteypes are locked into one role, and I think the gadget build would work better as a balanced role instead of support.
The time cards are ten bucks for two months, so five bucks a month. That's enough to cover the 400 pt Cryptic Point stipend alone, let alone all the other perks. If the vendor keeps offering them that cheap, I'll just play as Gold with the time cards. =)

This may be a silly question. I saw some game time cards on Amazon, 60 days for ten bucks. I was wondering if these things have to be used within a certain time frame? I'd like to pick up a few while they're cheap, but use them later. Bascially, after I get close to 40 on my five current slots, to unlock more slots. Which could be a long time at the rate I'm going.

Re: Second Best Game System ?
There is no Generation system etc (Though you can with a bit of a headache reverse engineer it if you have the Cortex Rules).Page 110. It's short, and very narrative-leaning, so may not appeal to Herophiles. But it's there. Reminds me a bit of character modeling method in FASERIP.

Re: CC's Guide to Tomorrow's Megapatch Changes
Does anyone who's more familiar with the overall system know if the new Radiant AT is any good? Looks interesting, but I lack familiarity with the individual powers.

Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns?
Yeah ... Baron Zemo' date=' Baron Blood ... I suspect it may be due to association with The Red Baron, thus 'baron' associates to Nazi ...[/quote']Holy time travel, Batman! The Red Baron has flown into WWII!

Re: Second Best Game System ?
I preordered the Marvel thingie on Amazon. Doubt I'll play it' date=' but probably worth a read.[/quote']It just got here today. Nice-looking book, graphic novel format. Lots of color, glossy pages, but the rules are in black text on a white background, which is a plus. (Save for the character writeups, which are white on a dark background, made worse by the font size, but at least the bulk of the reading in done correctly.)
Haven't gotten around to reading it, will post impressions later.

Can't wait to get to those.

Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it...
Personally, I knocked off the Hunger Games in two days. Not a bad read, reminding me of Battle Royale and The Long Walk. I'm now interested in reading the next two books in the series.
Series takes a bit of a turn in overall tone in the last book, but I think they're worth reading. They don't take long to read anyway, so not much time lost if you don't like the finale.

Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it...
I think it went uphill a bit with Thuvia, Maid of Mars and Chessmen. I think both of those had more editorial input than the prior books. Mastermind varied a little bit from the standard formula, and showed some creativity, though a little limited I think.

Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it...
Just finished Mastermind of Mars. Been reading the series while soaking, so I've also recently finished A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars, The Warlord of Mars, Thuvia, Maid of Mars, and The Chessmen of Mars.
Fun stuff. That said, I'd hate to read a modern editor's (many of whom espouse their Gernsbackian sensibilities) comments on one of these stories submitted today. It'd be pretty painful, I'm sure. "Show, don't tell," "engage all five senses," a long list of comments on the characters, I'm sure, along with the huge number of coincidences, and certainly comments on word economy.
However, take some of the floridness out of the writing, and they're just basically fun, light reading*. We could probably do with more of that nowadays. Too bad the pulp boom is long over.
*The still are fun, light, reading, but the writing gets in the way of itself at times.

No' date=' but I'll fix it for ya'... [/quote']Now I drew that pig for nothing. Thanks a lot! =)

Re: Can a limitation be an advantage?
I think the detect is over thinking it. We don't have to model everything down to the last point. It's not the sort of thing that's going to regularly give any kind of advantage, though it may come into play occasionally, at the GM's discretion. The level of information conveyed isn't enough to worry about statting out.

Re: Wolverine 6th edition
The IIF looks to be on the claws only, not the skeleton. I could see that on the original bionic claws concept. Even on the current concept, the IIF could be being taken as a lesser form of Restrainable, since the sheet notes they're retractable. If they can be blocked from coming out, then they can be temporarily "taken away."
Still not sure if I'd allow the limit or not, but that may be the reasoning behind it.

Re: So, what's NOT included in the 6th Ed. Basic Rulebook?
Killing could have been an Advantage to an attack that multiplies or otherwise increases the Body done. Then it'd be on par with a normal attack for Stun and do more Body.

Re: Low-End/Less Flashy Superpowers suggestions needed...
Wasn't his Heroclix pretty powerful?
I think most of the Aquaman bashing goes back to his Superfriends days.
Then again, people keep saying Spider-Man is street level, even though he's probably got one of the higher point totals among the non-cosmic Marvel heroes, and probably not far behind some of them.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
Huge fan of the period. But, please tell me that you've seen this:I smiled with the wonder of a small child -- and then needed to explain who Space Ghost was to my girlfriend
I'd love to see those guys do a Space Ghost, Herculoids or Thundaar the Barbarian series. Or maybe all three rolled into one with multiple shorts making an episode in an hour block.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I watched Bunraku the other day. Loved the ending.

Re: Low-End/Less Flashy Superpowers suggestions needed...
The ability to breath water, swim fast, and telepathically communicate with sea life. I think this power set it the epitome of low-end and less flashy. =)

Re: Can be used as...
Ok, had my fun with Sean. =)
Personally, I like the MP with a pool large enough for multiple slots solution, or a unified power limit. (TK was one area that actually made sense and worked well when modeled with an EC.)
A lot of the discussion is interesting, but I personally like simpler builds.

Re: Can be used as...
After scanning this thread, the best solution I've come to is to not allow Sean to use TK.
It's elegant, simple, and requires no math.

Re: What do you really think of Champions Online?
Ask Cryptic for a Crayon, and they just give you the tip.~Rex
I'm just quoting this out of context.
Because it's so funny that way.

Well, at least they had some of the vital info encrypted, unlike Sony's huge f-up a while back.
