  1. I GMd my very first Champions 6e adventure last night. I used the unofficial Hero System Foundry module/system. It actually worked quite well, we had a great time. It has a few minor glitches in it but stuff easy to work around. The devs of it are still active on the Hero Discord channel, and they keep improving it regularly. And they do it as a labor of love! Seriously, they are not paid and they keep working on it. I encourage you to give it a try. It’s been cool to get back into this rule system that I haven’t played since high school. The whole infinitely-flexible-point-buy system blew my mind coming off of 1eAd&D. Even though I had to look up half the rules as we were playing, we still had a great time.
  2. I’ve mentioned this before…but there is a fan-made unofficial system for Foundry for Hero System 5 and 6. You can even import HDC files from Hero Builder with it. It doesn’t have everything, but you can run combat with it. It’s very impressive for a volunteer project.
  3. I'll say it again...if you are jones that badly, use the unofficial hero system Foundry world, HDC import works well. And join the discord. That will tide you over plenty until the paid version comes out.
  4. I'm getting the same 404 as techogre, after registering w/ the site.
  5. Ah, didn't realize that. I'm definitely waiting for the paid version then to even test it...the unofficial version does have HDC upload, which sure makes creating NPCs and Characters a lot easier.
  6. The official Foundry basic version is now live. Here: https://foundryvtt.com/packages/fvtt-hero-system-6
  7. I've been using the Unofficial module for several months now. If you join the Hero System Discord channel, you will find all the answer about it that you need. It's a very active group on Discord, and they also often respond to games rules questions in realtime. A very helpful group in general with lots of threads. While the current Foundry Hero System module is "unofficial," the developer who has taken it over is very active on Discord and has been extremely responsive to issues. When I'm playing with it and find something that doesn't work, he usually fixes it in just a few days. It's been a labor of love for an unpaid Hero System player who happens to be a great coder. While I'm looking forward to the official versions and seeing what it provides, I have to say the Unofficial version is pretty dang good. Not perfect by any means, there are a number of things that don't work (for example, I don't believe Drain powers are automated) many powers are automated. You select an enemy with an attack, you click to hit, it tells you if it hit their DCV then you can click to roll damage and then apply damage to that target and the Body and Stun are automatically deducted minus any defenses. It can even group attack with an AOE. etc. He's done a great job as a volunteer. I'm impressed with it.
  8. Excellent! I will support the Kickstarter version for sure too! I’m going to be starting my first Champions 6e campaign on Foundry in a month or so.
  9. Hi Tasha, I love the layout. Very nice work. However I'm seeing it drop out content. Like take a look at this section screenshot. This character has 3 different drain powers in a multipower. it's not showing what each of them is draining (STR, DEX, EGO). I'm on a Macbook Pro, Ventura OS and opening it in Firefox. Any suggestions?
  10. Ahh, gotcha. Sorry for the lack of tech savvy, I didn't get it. Looks like it's working now! Thanks!
  11. I also bought the Hero Designer, and I'm on a Mac. Macbook Pro 2021 with OS Ventura. I opened the ZIP and I only see the files below. I don't see a .JRE file. The HDE and the JAR won't run on my mac. What to do?
  12. Ah, the 5th Ed Sidekick book, I see it! That looks great. I can read that in a few days. Great tip. I just bought it. I'll see how comfortable it makes me feel to run it, and if I need more, I'll look into the full rules.
  13. Yeah, 100% I agree with you. Whelp, I’m not giving up…on to the ~600 page Hero System! Any suggestions for me to keep in mind?
  14. That's what I'm feeling like so far...it's a summary and highlights but not a detailed how-to. This is the book I bought: I wish it had been explained more clearly, what i needed, I'm used to new editions of rules taking you through them from start to finish. Well, I don't mind...I'll pick up the HERO RULES 5th Ed revised. Thanks for the insight!
  15. I looked those up...they say 6th edition. How will that effect playing 5th edition? Will I need to convert something?
  16. i do recall that part from the original version of Champions. I was looking for a thorough process for character building that listed all the options and how to apply points to them. What book do you recommend that I should supplement the core rules with?
  17. Thank you, I appreciate your offer of help and quick response. I’m still going through it, so I’m sure I’ll have more questions later, but I’m looking through this section that I just started on building characters in the 5th Ed book, and they give a lot of examples of character types with abilities and powers. I have been hoping for a series of charts with ALL the available options for Talents and Powers and how much they cost and the bonus advantages available for each, etc. I might be jumping the gun here and need to read this thoroughly, but it seems kind of partial with all the options.
  18. Greetings, i played the original Champions edition as a kid. I want to start up a campaign again and after some research, decided to go with 5th edition. I bought the fifth edition rules from the hero website and other supplements. I thought it would explain all the thorough character building rules. However, it seems to be only a highlight of character building options. I am disappointed and did not expect that. I thought it would give me the full set of options. I wish the rules hadn’t assumed you were moving up from a previous edition. I’m starting from scratch here. The rules said: “Champions is different primarily because it’s such a wide-ranging genre that virtually anything is possible — so the full HERO System character creation rules almost always apply, and apply in just about any way you care to use them. (Additionally, both the HERO System 5 th Edition, Revised rulebook and other parts of this chapter provide plenty of suggested powers and abilities for superhumans.) So, this section is a fairly short one, containing just a few additional suggestions on various game elements that are particularly common to, or stereotypical of, the superhero genre.” So…can someone tell me what I need to buy to actually have all the character building options for Champions 5?
