Re: Knockback on the moon?
I got the same thing...."An extra phase to land you'll take...knockback on the moon...."
I took knockback on the Moon!
I got hit by a harpoon!
It's an RKA
But I don't weigh
Enough to be immune!

Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game
Some of my characters on Champion:
Mors Ninjarum, katana/super-reflexes scrapper
Archon, broadsword/regen scrapper
W3000 Sux Man, energy/devices blaster and
Windows 3000 Sux Man, newb energy/traps corrupter (about level 3)
R. Matey, pirate robot ninja mastermind
The Supa Skul, dark melee/invulnerability brute
Blue' date=' our base accuracy is 75% in PVE, and falls to 50% in PVP. Your ACC and To-Hit enhancements modify that base %, so your accuracy drops significantly in PVP. That is why your attack seems so hit and miss.[/quote']I heard they were changing that because it wasn't fair to players that depend on accuracy and defense buffs, but maybe I'm remebering wrong.

Re: How would you build Dr. Morbius?
I'd give him average Characteristics except for a good Presence and Comeliness, Ego in the 20s, and Intelligence in the 40s. Add a lot of Knowledge and Science Skills concerning the Krell, some gadgeteering skills or powers, and...
The Robot would be a very expensive Follower
Altaira a DNPC claiming to have useful skills
The Monster of the ID would be a Hunted (or Watched, but I'm not sure wiping out the colony, attacking the starship crew, and finally turning on about everyone are the actions of a Watcher.)

Re: Continuous Attack Faster than Character's Speed?
....which doesn't work out well if you don't have a speed of 1' date='2,3,4,6 or 12 and interacts strangely with defences: assuming you are speed 6, your forula would give a 3d6 KA per seg power 6d6 KA with gradual effect which will cause much more damage than a 3d6/seg power. Same number of DC at the end of the turn, much more damage through defences.[/quote']Could you apply Reduced Penetration (or something analogous?)

Re: The prescient Mr Staplehurst
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Steve Long again.

Re: Chronic Death Syndrome
She did die in a fire once, in the manga. She woke up a short time later, uninjured and wondering what the fuss was about. When some charred clothing and skin flaked off she remarked how smooth her skin was.

Re: Shadowcat- talk about a one-trick expensive pony
Sorry, nothing useful to add. I'm just getting all giggly imagining Wolverine and Sabretooth as girls. The actual method is to pick a reference history point for the character and then go original from there. Consider it a Battlestar like re-imagining. The source material is only there for ideas. -
Re: Why does the USS Iowa only have a 10 Defense?
In that case, it should be a lot harder to kill a tyrannosaur than an elephant. An elephant is one of the most intelligent animals on Earth, with a large brain. For all that it was a top predator, the tyrannosaur was just a big birdlike thing with a tiny little brain and a distributed, truss-like skull that wouldn't transmit damaging shocks to it. Just finding the brain in all that gristle would be hard... I think I'd want an explosive round.
Edit: What Tinman said.

Re: The Akane Tendo Culinary Institute
If your character is supposed to be especially good at being eccentric, I'd recommend spending the points for it. Ryoga has a head full of rocks, likewise to a much lesser degree Akane and maybe Soun, but Kasumi is intelligent, mild, and has an indomitable will. Ryoga has Phys Lim: Stupid, but Kasumi would have a mild Psych Lim at best.
Tatewaki and Kodachi both have 'act like a twit and annoy people 14-,' but Tatewaki took it as a Disad and Kodachi as a skill. She can add her INT bonus to her roll, take extra time, or apply knowledge skills to be more effective. With the expenditure of 5 or 10 experience, Tatewaki might be no better at annoying people than a competent normal, but Kodachi would become the all-being master of obnoxious, at once loved and envied by Foxbat.

Re: The Akane Tendo Culinary Institute
To lob a related concept at you' date=' how would you model Kasumi's blissful "ignore"-ance of anything upsetting? She does see what's happening, but she filters it through her rose-colored glasses and turns homicidal Amazons bent on killing her little sister's fiance and directionally-challenged death threat screaming teenagers into "Ranma, your friend came looking for you, so I served them tea." Also, it seems reality conspires to not push her too hard to see what she doesn't acknowledge.[/quote']I think I'd make her pay points for that, as PRE Only for Defense or something.
I think I've seen her struggling to keep calm or find the 'normalcy' in a situation. The only time her obliviousness seemed to be an inconvenience for anyone is in regard to Dr. Tofu, and in the manga she apparently stopped seeing Dr. Tofu as soon as Akane told her the doctor only acts like a clown around Kasumi. Kasumi herself is never limited by her mildness, IMO. For example, she can be stern when she wants to be, or offer advice that actually has some bearing on the matter at hand.

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
Last Saturday, our party had just literally been through Hell and come out in Shangri-La. We found ourselves in a Buddhist monastery. For some inane gnomish reason, I thought the monks should have loud red-orange robes, but the GM described them as dull brownish orange.
Windows 3000 Sux Man (me): Brown? What's the matter with scarlet?
Quantum: I don't know, and frankly I don't give a damn.

Re: Focus = Too Great a Price Break?
Makes sense to me. END Reserve doesn't cost any END to use, so no amount of Charges should be an Advantage. IDHMBIFOM and stuff. You're right. I just checked HDv2 and it shows +0 for everything that isn't an actual negative value.Time to PM Dan.

Re: Picture if You Will...
I think the oxygen and nitrogen would be more likely to form a ring around the planet, as there's no reason for the gas to just stop in its orbit and fall to the ground, even if the tides are outrageous. If some of the expelled gas gets spewed with enough force to break orbit and land on the planet, some will also get expelled in all other directions and uselessly disperse.
Consider an accretion disk around a black hole. Bodies approaching too closely get pulled apart by tides; material falling off such bodies continues to orbit until collisions with other matter causes it to spiral in.
Maybe you can have a station in a Lagrangean point where ejected gas accumulates at a slightly higher concentration than elsewhere.

Re: "So, Thor hits Superman with Mjolnir..."
The definition of Superman's vulnerability varies from "able to withstand any physical attack regardless of power source, but his Power Defense doesn't keep him from being enchanted into a newt" to "Weakened and perhaps knocked out by just being in the same room as an artifact-level weapon." I prefer the former. Superman would be affected by a magic weapon if the magic was something subtle enough to bypass his Invulnerability. He has high resistance to impact and lightning, but none to magical Drains and Transforms.

Re: To agree or disagree with Steve's answer
I've always done it the way Steve said and It never occurred to me to do otherwise. But I haven't played in a hen's age and I have no opinion on which way to do it is best.

Re: Hey Surbook:
Nice for you. You weren't their target, were you?Playing around with mythology can be fun! Rumiko Takahashi did it all the time. I remember once being told "The best way to understand Urusei Yatsura is to VBE Japanese."Takahashi satirized the tradtional take on Oni by have them as a race of aliens and kaing her main character a young Oni who happens to be gorgeous instead of hideous. Orgiinally she was meant to plague the life of the here, but over time she mellowed consideraly (although she did retain her violent jealous streak).
Her electric shocks were also a nice touch.
Ow, my misspent youth.

Re: OK, Math And Science Experts: Cubic Hexes
Thanx for all the help' date=' guys! I've gone ahead and made my chart with both a "cubic foot" and "cubic hex" columns, which will hopefully satisfy everyone, and I've provided some handy conversion formulae to boot. [/quote']Not cubic hexes, cylindrical hexes.

... in collision with a bollard. That's a bollard, not a robot. No robots were stunned in the accident.
That concludes the news for robots; next up: the news for dinosaurs.
