  1. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Shadowsoul, I'm going to "tweak" my build a bit - nothing major, but I do think I might need a bit more in the way or PRE (or at least the way I'm handling it). And his name doesn't seem to fit, the way it sounds - I'll post the revisions later today
  2. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy We're going to be an...interesting group. A werewolf, an undead revnant, and humanoid bat psychic, and a guy that keeps fiddling with weird magical steampunk gadgets. All we need now is a one eyed hunchbacked dwarf with a lisp and we can start our own circus !
  3. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Mine is 99% done. Just need equipment I think.
  4. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Holy crap! +7 DCV? Yowza!
  5. Re: Game of Thrones I have to agree with Inu.
  6. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy THe Clairsentience and the Mind Link both should add a lot to a group, if we're smart enough to handle it correctly. I hope
  7. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Whoops - posted the wrong draft, so I deleted the message. Let's try again - this should make him a good bit more survivable, and more of a force multiplier for the team as well.
  8. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Let's try this again
  9. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Not at all! I *thought* 350 was kind of...extreme LOL. No, I can make the changes easily. I chose the "insects" thing because I kind of figured that up where the Strell cities flew, there wouldn't be many. I'll rework him at 150+100
  10. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy OK, the first draft of my Strell. Feel free to suggest or mandate changes as you wish!
  11. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy What about languages? Is there a "common tongue" that members of the New Dawn speak? Do the Strell have a single language, or one for each city?
  12. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy Never mind the private mail question - this has the answer. Mucho thanks, I'll do some fiddling with this over the weekend!
  13. Re: Sprit Whim Magic System Not to go veering off on a tangent, but I ran a campaign once where all "clerical" magic was done this way - but none of the priests and such had spells at all. Instead they bought contacts, and the contacts could cast spells for them. If they saw fit, and if they could be contacted. The more powerful the contact, the more the cost. The upside is that it makes designing the characters pretty easy. The downside is that the GM has to build every contact...though that gives you considerable freedom to balance things
  14. Re: Side Effect: Distraction Please, hijack the thread - it's a worthwhile discussion and interesting. And sinc I created the thread, I'm allowed to say who can hijack it, no ?
  15. Re: Game of Thrones The only reliable resource for dates is GRRM's own page: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/
  16. Re: Game of Thrones Indeed - except for the coward part. I think he's very courageous in some ways. And I still say he's one of the "good guys" - well, relative to the rest of the characters, that is. Granted, some of them are true cesspools of depravity...
  17. Re: Game of Thrones Oh, I dunno...he only sleeps with whores because that's the only women that will have him - he's a crippled dwarf with mis-matched eyes after all. And you have to admit, his formative years did teach him to be distrustful...but not distrustful enough, it seems. Coward? Well, sort of. Physically you could say he is, but then, I would be afraid to go into combat with a knight too if I were him. Drunken? Not all that much. Sure, he drinks, and likes it, but he's rarely blotto. As for friendship, I think he is capable, if otheres would be friends with him. I'd argue Jon Show is possibly his friend. Oddly, so is his brother Jaime. And I'm pretty sure everyone he killed he should have...sometimes years too late, granted.
  18. Re: Side Effect: Distraction I don't mind having high levels, as long as there are tradeoffs. I like Archermoo's idea the best as well, and it was kind of what I was thinking anyway. For every 10 points of Side Effect, take a -1 on, well, everything. Thanks, all.
  19. Re: Side Effect: Distraction 1/2 or 0 DCV...maybe, but I don't think that's restrictive enough in some ways. Who cares if their DCV is 0 when they have 20 rDEF and the bulk of the attacks are 4-7 DC? Maybe Concentration AND Lockout...but that seems to me to be too restrictive in that the mage now loses all spell ability.
  20. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central The Viridian Vixen LOL? The Vert Flirt?
  21. As we all know, due to the relative cheapness of defenses, Force Fields can be pretty unbalancing in Heroic games - it's awfully easy to become fairly impregnable. One thing I'd like to do for my Fantasy Hero games is to force all Force Field type spells to take a mandatory Side Effect that always occurs - due to the FF being inflexible, or maybe causing tingling, or buzzing, or visual distortion...at any rate, I'd like for the FF, when active to cause the caster to have a certain minus to pretty much ANY roll that s/he has to make. How best to express this? A Drain on Overall Skill levels was my first thought, but I'm not sure Drains effect skills. Any suggestions?
  22. Re: Game of Thrones Odd...I dont' see him a abhorrent, really, at all. In fact, I see him as one of the "good guys", just crippled by his deformities and who he is related to. Well, OK, he did kind of...um, don't want to give away spoilers, but you have to agree that anyone he has "wronged" sure had it coming to them... He's certainly one of my favorite characters, along with Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth, though who knows if the latter is still alive or not. Oh, and as for minor characters, how can you not like Dolorous Edd?
  23. Re: Game of Thrones Aw, c'mon. Tyrion Lannister is far to interesting a character for Anne Rice to ever have written.
  24. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Corven_Ren, what app did you use to generate that pic?
  25. Re: Who is the best Super in comics? Spiderman, Captain America, Dr. Strange, Iron Man, and the Silver Surfer. With honorable mention to the Vision. As for villains, I have to go with Dr. Doom as well, though it's tough to rule out Galactus....
