  1. Many blame the violence on underage individuals who drink and take drugs on the street and loiter in nearby parking lots.
  2. The rules used depends on the age of the hero. Those of high school age use the Teen Champions rules, which, I think, mostly add drama.
  3. The heroes are teen vigilante heroes in Pittsburgh, either in the 11th or 12th grade in Taylor Allderdice High School or undergrads at the University of Pittsburgh.
  4. Coastal City is in Connecticut and is based on Ivy Town and Calvin City.
  5. The idea was that there was a gateway somewhere within the pool, which is normally 16-feet deep, behind the Emsworth Locks and Dam on the Ohio River at Nevelle Island that leads to a pocket universe where the island is. On the Allegheny River, which is one of the sources of the Ohio River, the pool ends at the #2 Locks and Dam, which is just downstream of the Highland Park Bridge. On the Monongahela River, which is the other source of the Ohio River, the pool ends at the #2 Locks and Dam, also called the Braddock Locks and Dam, a bit downstream of the abandoned Carrie Furnace (Railroad) Hot Metal Bridge. The above is, of course, for a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-set campaign.
  6. It's a place where merfolk gather. Some may live there permanently, but it's not required. There could be a moonpool, but it's also not required.
  7. Coastal City, from the 3E module Atlas Unleashed, is a generic coastal city with a bay, a hospital (possibly more than one), a swank hotel, a fine art museum, a power company, an over-crowded freeway system, and a factory-lined channel (which may be a river). An air force base and NASA telemetry station are nearby. We can postulate that it is a major city with a university, a school system, shopping and residential districts, parks, a zoo, and government buildings. A lighthouse may be on an island in the bay and a general aviation airport is possible.
  8. Anyone know of a substitute for Mako Island from H2O: Just Add Water and Mako Mermaids? I might stick it an an extra-dimensional area.
  9. Since East Carson Street is losing bars to the lawlessness at nights caused, in part, by drunks, it'll probably be in Oakland, near the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and Carlow University, possible on South Craig Street.
  10. Grace is backed up by Christine, a computer expert she worked with in the agency, who provides the heroes with useful information and research.
  11. Here's the revamped Grace. She's an ex-cat burglar who was required to join a United States intelligence agency after being arrested for her crimes and had to stay with them for three years in order to avoid prison sentence.
  12. One thing I had forgotten about Coastal City, which is from a 3E module, is that it's meant to be a generic coastal city, like Metropolis, Gotham City, or Ivy Town (where the second Atom lived).
  13. Grace is a PRIMUS Intelligence agent who is the local team’s liaison. She is very skilled at working undercover as a cat burglar and is willing to act as her team’s driver, lookout, and backup. She calls out, “Blue dots,” if she’s going to use a flash bomb and is armed with, among other things, a suppressed nine-millimeter pistol loaded with knockout darts. She dubbed her PRIMUS spider “Charlotte”.
  14. Coastal City is in New England on or near Long Island Sound.
  15. The pit might also have sporadic eruptions of various kinds of energy.
  16. I might move the bar to East Carson Street on the South Side. To be precise, it'll be, like Zorba's, in the neighborhood known as The South Side Flats.
  17. The Light-Fingered Lady first appeared in my first Junior Justice Foundation campaign as a bar in the University Commons neighborhood for those who liked to dress like cat burglars. Of course, some real cat burglars and police detectives might drink there, too, but they had to act like regular people.
  18. Bay City University would've expanded. Among other things, there would be a health center, complete with hospitals, clinics, and medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy, and health-related professions schools on one side.
  19. In San Angelo, all four would be located on the ground floors of the two office buildings in a block surrounded by Fifth Avenue, South Craig Street, Henry Street, and South Dithridge Street. A pedestrian overpass connects one building to a public parking garage on the other side of Henry Street.
  20. This is a bit off-subject, but I thought I'd add it in. Valkyries exist in this campaign and Pittsburgh has a few other special bars. Piper’s is a nightclub on Penn Avenue in the Strip District that’s popular with the magic-using crowd. Piper, the owner, manager, and occasional bartender, is a white witch. Peggy, her assistant manager, chief bartender, and cousin, is a half-Valkyrie white witch. Jake’s Blues Bar, on Liberty Avenue in the Strip District, is a great place for blues. While there’s no house band, The Blues Angels play there four nights a week from 9 PM to closing. Zorba’s, on East Carson Street in the South Side is a Greek Bar. Belly dancers perform there from 9 PM to closing. Safura and Salome often perform there.
  21. The bar is at the corner of Atwood and Sennott Streets, up against an apartment building. (The staff area was originally an apartment.) A parking lot at Sennott and Oakland Avenue serves the bar and several restaurants. Both Atwood Street and Oakland Avenue are one way, toward Forbes Avenue. Like The Garage Door Saloon, which was once there, Thursday is karaoke night, the only night nobody cares how the patrons dress. The handgag tokens are replaced by karaoke tokens. There's always a couple ready to sing Charly McClain and Mickey Gilley's hit Paradise Tonight and one lady, dressed the part, to sing Patsy Cline songs.
  22. Agreed. The lady dubbed "Kitten" took the role seriously when acting as a server and still does as a customer. But then, she likes going as a cat burglar to the Steel-City Con, the annual comics, manna, anime, etc. convention at the Monroeville Convention Center.
  23. True. That's another reason for the "UNDER 21" bracelets, which are made of the same material as hospital bracelets. The signs say that it won't happen to those under 21.
  24. Some staff members wear fabric ski masks under their knit three-hole ones. Since the COVID epidemic staffers have worn black surgical masks under their stocking masks. Some cat burglars handgag their victims before doing anything else. Signs saying that patrons who want to experience it are to take a white plastic token with “MEOW” on it in black lettering and keep it visible. A few servers also do it to regular patrons they like, after which they greet them in a soft voice.
  25. These tokens are dark-blue plastic with white lettering.
