GrimJesta
Can anyone point me to a website that has reviews for the 4th edition Fantasy Hero companions I and II? Cuz I just won them on Ebay, but I have NO idea whats in them. Yes, we still play 4th edition, which is why Im asking. Or can anyione here tell me what was in the two books?? Thanks ahead of time. -=Grim=-
austenandrews
FHC2 has rules for ship combat, based on the mass combat rules from FHC1. I know 'cause I wrote them. To be honest, I don't recall what else was in FHC2 besides a bunch of spell colleges and probably some magic items. FHC1 was largely composed of spillover material from FH -- tons of spell colleges, magic items, etc. I don't recall what else. Sometime in the last decade I lost my only copy (and also my copy of FH, which is the real bummer). -AA

Captain Obvious
Besides Austen's magnificent ship combat rules, FC2 also has several package deals/spell colleges, and I believe it has rules for barding, too. The package deals include a paladin, a warrior-mage, and a thaumaturgist (built along the lines of the thaumaturgists in Master of the Five Magics). That's about all I recall at this point. Overall, I'd say it's a good buy, assuming you kept your bid to a common sense level.
GrimJesta
$3.99 plus shipping. I thought that was fair. Now I just have to find a freakin 4e Bestiary and Ill be happy. And thank Gawd (Hackmaster wooo!) that the FHC2 has ship combat rules. One of the main kingdoms is a sea-faring, island chain type dealie... -=Grim=-
Captain Obvious
Well, if you can't find one more conveniently located to you, my FLGS has had a 4th Ed Bestiary ever since I got here. It doesn't look like it's going to be sold any time soon.
GrimJesta
Oh man... dude... how much are they letting it go for, and would you be willing to do the whole "I mail check, you mail book" type thing? Cuz I cant find this book for anything. -=Grim=-
Galadorn
FHC1 had locations mostly, such as a lord's manor, wizard's tower, etc.
Captain Obvious
I'll check it out next time I'm in the store. I think it's in pretty good shape, and it might have been there ever since it first came out, even though it's over with a lot of used stuff. Anyway, I'll get back to you. austenandrews
As I think about it, I believe FHC1 also had a bunch of monsters. -AA (Edit: Duh, as the ToC above clearly shows. )
Captain Obvious
That's right. Full writeups for all those monsters in that list in 4th Ed FH....

Where is this store, and does it have a website? LOL. I lost my FHC1 years ago, I want a replacement!
GrimJesta
Monster write-ups, eh? So I basically wont need the bestiary is what youre saying? Or is that book still a good idea? I dont need dinosaurs and aliens, just Fantasy beasties. But the locations thing is awesome. I need some of those as filler. -=Grim=-

But FCH1 has great art for some of the monsters, such as the orcs, half-orcs, hobgoblins and goblins pic. I think that pic is awesome. But the locations thing is awesome. I need some of those as filler. I agree, they were one of my favorite parts of the book.
Killer Shrike
Um, just thought Id point out that all the 5th Edition material would be usable even in your 4th Edition games. The two editions are more alike than not, and there are relatively few significant alterations that cant be navigated around in play by a cognizant GM. Lord Liaden
If you don't mind ordering online, Noble Knight Games is advertising copies of 4E Fantasy HERO, Companion I and II, and the 4E HERO Bestiary. They're not as cheap as eBay can be, for example, but Noble Knight is a class operation that I recommend: http://www.nobleknight.com

GrimJesta, it looks like it's in pretty good shape...a couple of scuffs on the cover, but no tears, marks, or spills. The FHC or FHC2 has full writeups for those monsters with abbreviated listings in 4th Ed FH. The Bestiary has more. A couple are repeats (old standards like zombies, werewolves, etc), but there are a lot more real world animals, a good selection of fairies and similar things, some demons and demon lords, diseases and venoms...a whole lot of stuff. Since it's used, they only want $6. Let me know if you want it.
