I think the "challenge" was good from a reality-check perspective, plus I liked the responses that indicated where the rules are more clearly less abusable. As many have pointed out, abuse is relative, and it's an important aspect, a necessary evil to some, a feature to others, of the HERO system that the system be open to such "abuse" in order to allow different types of campaigns to occur. Plus essentially every system has this opportunity, even if less clear/obvious. That is, every system except Hybrid. You can't abuse Hybrid. Life Support Longevity with Useable simultaneously, Mega Scale and enough targets to cover the globe. Suddenly no one ages any more or at least dies from old age.
