Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

In a world where Superhumans are commonplace, I don't see it as too much of a big deal really.

Don't give the QM ideas!!!

Well seriously, there are lots of people/supers/whoever who would like to get their hands on one of those Crowns. Powerful they are.

Don't think of it as giving QM ideas. Just think of it as campaign longevity insurance :)

Hmm...Reverend Temperance still out there? Though i don't know how an anti-alcohol crusader with an artefact from South Central Hades would work.

CrankyBuffalo (aka WinderSurfer) Is at conference.

Amabushi (aka Blitz) Is at his Girlfriend's mother's birthday party.

Evil Steve (aka Lucky) Has work.

KiwiOfDoom (aka Titan) Cancelled right after I called radioCHAOS too.

Oh, I don't know about that; we could have had a *ripping* session of 'watch Patrick roll up a new character';) But oh, the XP I could have pulled in if I took him down solo...not to mention the trauma, hospital stay, psychological therapy, raw throat from cursing the rest of the PCs for not showing up and me for trying to grandstand...

Ah well. Any chance we can got something on this weekend?

Champions of Vancouver - Episode 22: "The Hunt for Dark Seraph"

Cast of Characters:

Blitz - Speedster/Martial Artist (Current Team Leader?)

Archangel - Incarnation of the Archangel Gabriel

Pyre Archer - Pyrokinetic Winged Archer

Windsurfer - Mutant Wind Manipulator

Lucky - Well he just is yah know!

Titan (Short for "The Titanium Man") - Mutant Brick (Body of Metal)

Antagonists:

Dark Seraph - Bearer of the Iron Crown

Walter Green - VIPER Nest Leader (Dead or Alive???)

Gregory Fairchild -

Location:

Mount Garibaldi Base

Church of the Order

The Story Continues... (Summary Only)

Our Heroes continue to investigate Windsurfer's story and curse Entropy. The Media coverage on the incident left as many questions as it did answers.

Meanwhile a new Superhero foils a VIPER Robbery downtown. The Media seems to be giving this new Hero a lot more than the usual "15 Minutes Of Fame!"

Archangel and crew decide to grant Windsurfer probationary membership and decide to continue their investigation of the deconsecrated Church in Downtown Vancouver. Ironicly enough it is now the Vancovuer branch of the Church of Scientology.

They arrive on scene to find a crime scene. During the night a Lightning Bolt struck the building roof and burrowed down 3 floors and struck an old safe. Blasting it open and scattering its contents accross the sub basement. There were two victums, employees of the CoS. The Police Officer on duty escorts them to the crime scene and they find the manager coordinating clean up. The man turns to Archangel and sees Father Gabriel, not Archangel. The Investigating Officer arranges for them to investigate the crime scene. He is not happy about it, but he has orders from on high.

Everyone stumbles to a halt when they find soemone already looking through the crime scene. It is the new Media darling Lucky. The Inspector and the CoS Manager have no idea he was there. He quickly explains his presence and offers a clue. An Obsidian Dagger

The Safe is ancient and the interior appears to be simular to the Order's Vault. Archangel asks Father Del Luna to investigate and Blitz rushes off to fetch him. The arrive a little wet (Blitz ran accross the Inlet and caused delays for the Ferries because of his Rooster Tail and Wake).

Later, rather than comprimise their secret base futher   They agree to go to Neutral Ground. A superhuman Bar in North Vancouver. It is in the basement of an S&M Club so spandex and leather do not stand out.

Once there they discuss their investigation and their hunt for Dark Seraph, the search for Walter Green's corpse (Animate or Not), and Gregory Fairchild on new suspect.

Loose Threads:

n/a

The Good:

EvilSteve finally came out.

Not much gaming, but lots of fun kibitzing and we set the Character Creation Guidelines for radioKAOS's Post-Apocalyops Champions Campaign running on alternate Saturdays.

The Bad:

Micronaut_6 Moved away.

sxbaxter dropped out due to work.

KiwiOfDoom had to work.

The Ugly:

I was a little disappointed not being able to get the game roaring. May happes next session will start with "PHASE 12, Everybody make a Surprise Check!"

More later

Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

Lots of fun that day. Didn't accomplish a whole lot, as one of us observed. But we had fun. And the bar scene was neat.

Future note: Check to see if 'Follow him' or 'Go where the last guy went to' will work on voice-activated transporters. GIGO in action....

Pyre-Archer

-Oh, QM? Good luck on that thing next weekend.

Yeah it was almost one of those 'this adventure didn't happen' kind of things... because well, really, no adventure did happen...

We were to busy getting acquainted and goofing around, which is fine, just doesn't make for a real gaming session.

Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

Well, there was me and Windsurfer...

Had a good time, even if it did involve being thrown through a doorway via Morningstar Airmail Express. Took no body damage, but went to -1 STUN from one hit.

Short battle.

I'll leave the full recap to QM. Did happen across an interesting angle to go after: hooking up with the Order. I kind of fumbled the reaction, but now that I think about it...I do have DEMON as an Enemy...

Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

That's two adventures in a row without a rousing combat.

OK, without a rousing combat that isn't ended quickly by us flying through the air, glass walls or doors, and ending up flat on our backs.

This "overconfidence" disad has got to go :-).

Really, it was lots of fun (at least I thought so, but I was the one doing most of the investigating and having the fun of breaking into other peoples computers). But I'm getting to the point where I want to break something.

Er, I want to break something other than by involuntarily flying into it or through it.

Hunting Dark Seraph

The Good:

Windsurfer is turning out to be the real investigator and his Hearing Voices on the Wind power =looks like a great GM Tool.

The Bad:

Morningstar and Black Paladin were more challenging than I expected.

The Ugly:

Total improvisation on my part. Archangel and Blitz did not show up which was unexpected. I took up one of the Loose Threads. The Demon Wands in the hands of a Dr. Langston, a UBC Professor of Thaumatology.

Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

I was frankly surprised at how effective the wind-based TK power was against the Runaway Robot. Since it was so cool, I got overconfident with it and that led to the attempt to snatch Black Paladin's mace out of his hands.

That led to me flying through a window :-).

It was still fun.

Gotta get myself access to some kind of supervillain power database so I can research enemies we come across. Also some sort of wireless access to Google so I can check out people we come across, like the French witch-girl Molly de Morphant (sp? -- that's the best I can guess -- might be Demorfant or something similar). I mean, we brought her right into the Order's facility. What if she's a plant or a transformed villain?

Guess it's a little late to think of that :-(

And if Magic(k) is real and known in this timeline/universe, I have to figure out what my relationship to it is. During a crisis, I have no problem accepting it at face value, but once I get a chance to sit down and think about it, we'll see.

Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

Monday Nights! I can't make it on Monday.

What is your game going to be about Kaos?

Hrm. Can't make it Mondays, eh? Sunday Night? lol [i've been trying to get these guys to do Sunday nights instead of Monday, but looks like Monday is the winner!

My game?

This is the recipe I'm thinking of...

Start with Normals, throw them into a recently post-apoc world [with little to no tech], throw in some elements of Highlander, super powers, gritty dark storylines, and then add surprises to taste ;)

Doh!

Not a great plan, should have let Archangel use his 12D6 Telepathy on her first... The Order are people we'd like to keep as friends, besides they are HOLDING ON TO THE CROWNS!!!! Letting a villain into their den is bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. Next thing we know we'll end up having to fight the Crowns of Crim again... all at the same time.... and then it won't be pretty... for us.

Time to take down the Dark Seraph and take the Crowns up to the big man upstairs for proper destruction.

Yeah, it was.

I think the problem, at least as far as Pyre-Archer is concerned, is that he wasn't designed as a brawler, which is what was called for in that kind of fight. He's a sniper/blaster who can hold his own against low ranking thugs and midrange baddies. Add in No range modifier and some stealth training? Hey, let the hurting begin. A 'name' level villain like Black Paladin would, in all likelyhood, reduce ol' PA to a small burn mark on the floor.

Which is why that Order offer sounds so appealing...

Pyre Archer

-Hmm...would 'Leave Dent in Wall' be a Cosmetic Transform, or a Minor one?

Champions of Vancouver - Episode 24: "The Fall Of The Crowns Of Krim"

Cast of Characters:

Blitz - Speedster/Martial Artist (Current Team Leader?)

Archangel - Incarnation of the Archangel Gabriel

Pyre Archer - Pyrokinetic Winged Archer

Windsurfer - Mutant Wind Manipulator

Lucky - Well he just is yah know!

Antagonists:

Dark Seraph

The Monster

Black Paladin

Morning Star

Location:

Vancouver Island, 4 miles south of CFB Esquimalt (Where Orion and Flicker discovered the Demon Hame, the Giode, and the DEMON Wand.)

The Order's Safehouse/Vault

The Story Continues... (Summary Only)

Windsurfer and Prye Archer return to The Order's Church/Vault and find Father Del Luna crucified to the swing set. Still alive Windsurfer flies him to the closest hospital. The good father recovers conciousness long enough to say Molly de Morphant is an innocent.

The Vault Safe containing the 4 Crowns of Krim was emptied, there where signs how it was ripped open. All of the Vaults and Cells are defaced and empty.

Molly's cellphone caller ID has recent missed messages. all the same. The voice on the other end emphasises some words and not others. Leading them to believe she may have been obey a hypnotic suggestion.

The Champions Of Vancouver follow the clues and leads to the location of Black Paladin's Cellphone. They find only Molly's cellphone number on it. Her Cellphone has

Loose Threads:

Black Paladin vanished fanished before the Battle reached it's climax.

Molly De Morphant was no where to be found.

They have all 5 of "The Crowns Of Krim"

The Monster escaped into the forest.

The Good:

Archangel's inital Flash attack left Dark Seraph blind, but he could still Sense and Target there souls. The Battle Plan went right out the window from the get go.

The Monster proved to be the most resilient and deadly opponent. Only Archangel's Healing Powers "Flexed" stopped them from dying.

Black Paladin got Lucky (Literally and Figuratively) striking him down and cursing him with 3d6 Unluck (5d6 Total).

Morningstar kept Prye Archer busy folowing his impressive attack against Dark Seraph, but fell beneath the combined might of Archangel, Blitz and Prye Archer.

The Bad:

Archangel Gabriel filled with Righteous Wrath raises his firey sword above the unconcious Dark Seraph. The sword falls and Dark Seraphs Crown rolls free. Its mortal bearer dead from a sword blow to the head.

The Ugly:

I need more practive running combats and tactics.

More later.

Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

Quote of the evening:

"Sorry to bother you for something trivial, but we've lost the Crowns of Krim."

-- Blitz

Combat highlights:

Pyre-Archer stuns Dark Seraph and (IIRC) knockbacks Morningstar virtually out of the fight.

Blitz keeps The Monster busy.

The group survives a simultaneous lightning strike and dark magic bolt from Dark Seraph.

Lowlights:

Windsurfer (that would be me) taking Molly de Morphant to The Order and relying upon them to clear her as OK (that's actually last adventure, but....).

Windsurfer (me, again) taking an 18 body / 90 stun (somewhere around that) hit from The Monster to open the action. But Pyre-Archer returned the favor to Dark Seraph later, so I guess we can't complain.

Lucky getting knocked through several walls by Dark Paladin and laying roasting in a burning building until healed by Gabriel and then rescued at the end of combat.

Important Character Notes to Self:

Don't let Blitz talk on the phone anymore. :-)

Well he IS the Angel of Vengeance you know! and if anyone deserved the full wrath of Gabriel's fury, it was Dark Seraph.

S'ok, now that we have the Crowns, it's time for Gabriel to retire.
