Dust Raven
HERO In Your Soul To the tune of “Birdhouse In Your Soul†by They Might Be Giants I’m your only friend I’m not your only friend But I am every genre’s friend But really I’m not actually your friend But I am Fifth Edition on the bookshelf by your dice bag I’ve got all the rules Put a little HERO in your soul Not to put too fine a point on it If you’re looking for a game then I’ve got it Put a little HERO in your soul I have a secret to tell From my mechanical well It’s a simple message And I’m leaving out the whistles and bells To all your friends you will show My cover’s glimmering glow My name is Fifth Edition One game spelled H-E-R-O My genre’s infinite Like a gamer’s symphony I never rest Fifth Edition on the bookshelf by your dice bag I’ve got all the rules Put a little HERO in your soul Not to put too fine a point on it If you’re looking for a game then I’ve got it Put a little HERO in your soul I’m your only friend I’m not your only friend But I am every genre’s friend But really I’m not actually your friend But I am There’s a system previously It’s my primitive ancestry It wasn’t perfect but It kept some gamers boredom free Though I respect that allot It’d be fired if it had my job After kludging all the rules And never giving some things thought HERO of friendliness Like the ol’ BBB sits Always near Fifth Edition on the bookshelf by your dice bag I’ve got all the rules Put a little HERO in your soul Not to put too fine a point on it If you’re looking for a game then I’ve got it Put a little HERO in your soul While you’re at it Play the game at cons To show the HERO in your soul Fifth Edition on the bookshelf by your dice bag I’ve got all the rules Put a little HERO in your soul Not to put too fine a point on it If you’re looking for a game then I’ve got it Put a little HERO in your soul

PhilFleischmann
Re: Hero In Your Soul Pretty good. This is the first one you've done with a tune that I know. "I've got all the rules" doesn't scan quite right. It should be six syllables, not five, to match, "Who watches over you." How 'out "Hex Man's got all the rules"? I think he might be going for "I--'ve got all the rules." Hold the "I" for two beats, or the period of"Who wa-" in the original song. Actually, I think I originally just didn't contract I have... but later didn't like the sound of it. alternativly I could have simple added the word "and" at the beginning of the line. Nice catch though... I try to keep scantion perfect, but I miss a few. P.S.: Any tune requests... I'm usually quite eccletic, so my next selection might be yet another obscure tune I just assume everyone's heard. (only on the Hero boards will a TMBG song be universal and Bod Jovi not be )
