Steve Long
Anyone have any good maps or diagrams of Pulp-era train cars? I've got a couple of crude sources, but I figured maybe Herodom Assembled could point me in the direction of something better.
Pogo
Re: Train, Train Chaosium's "Horror on the Orient Express" might help, but the signal to noise ratio might be low for your purposes. In addition, Publius has posted some excellent plans for subway cars, and hinted about doing a train.(http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35446)

Publius
Re: Train, Train I do have some info on trains from the era, I can bundle together the relevant files and send them to you if you would like. I also have done some work on a Pullman car thus far, but I wasn't entirely happy with it. "Car01" is one of the images I have done, the other file is from a website somewhere, but the details are rather poor and it looks... ugly. Steve Long
Re: Train, Train Ah, the Publius Special Express! Yes, please, send me whatever train stuff you have, to SteveL@herogames.com (which will also help test the new spam filter ). Credit will, of course be given where credit is due. Now I'm going to have to get crackin' on The Locomotive Pirates in earnest....
austenandrews
Re: Train, Train This summer I rode a passenger coach from '23 or '24. It was a single, long cabin with bench seats on either side of the central aisle. The interesting part was the design of the seat backs, which were hinged to flip from one side of the seat to the other, changing the way the benches faced. This was so that no matter which direction the coach travels, the benches could be flipped to face forward.

For flying boat plans, a good place to look is the Seawings site: http://www.seawings.co.uk/ Cheers Alistair
Alistair
Re: Train, Train The old James Bond RPG book, "Thrilling Locations" had a plan of the Orient Express, I believe. Also, the Museum of Transportation in St Louis( http://www.museumoftransport.org/ )has a *lot* of trains. Not sure if they'd be able to provide plans, though. Publius
Re: Train, Train Dude! That is exactly what I need to start working on some plans. It goes much faster if there is something to work with, and what I was working with previously was a grainy nasty image. This is beautiful. nytflyr
Re: Train, Train Gurps Old West has some maps of train cars. Alistair
Re: Train, Train There's also the "The Orient Express" by Anthony Burton, which has lots of nice pictures, but not too many floor plans, I'm afraid.
Publius
Re: Train, Train there is only so many ways you can configure a rail carInterestingly enough not so when you look at the variations out there. The difference between the parlor car and the sleeper car for instance is quite large. Placement of different kinds of seats and seat arrangements, any extra rooms (ladies powder room, men's dressing rooms) etc. makes a huge difference. If you are doing something very basic, yeah it's a box with seats in it, but if you are trying to make it right there are a lot of little details to work in. I have found the trains to be very frustrating because they are so narrow.
Steve Long
Re: Train, Train Excellent post nytflyr! Just goes to show that if you look long enough and ask around long enough, you can find all sorts of interesting stuff on the Web.
