Question: The ship comes in at 97 meters long (on the map, add about 3-6 meters of hull and such to each side), and about 34 meters wide. It has 3 decks, the lower being 12 meters high in the cargo hold, the rest and the upper decks each being 2.25 meters tall with about 1.25m space between decking in most areas.

Now, by raw measurement, I came up with about 107m long, 42m wide including structure, hull, armor, etc. 53.5" by 21", or essentially size 17.

Actual usable area, however, is only 800~850 hexes. Size 16.

Which should I go with?

Also, any comments / suggestions about that map? I know there has to be some imporant ship-board something-or-other that I am completely overlooking.

Edit: Forgot about Credit where credit is due -- These maps created using Autorealm.

Re: [Deck Plans] Merc / Independent Cruiser

I'd say go with Sizd 17. Only about half to two-thirds of a Vehicle's space is normally usable anyway.

Good work on this. I may swipe it for a game some time (especially if you put the character sheet and everything together into a PDF... that would be so sweet!).

I will post the sheet (again - had posted a write up that I've decided to change) eventually, but have no capability to make .pdf's. I'm still toying with stuff on it, and I can't promise it will fit with the tech in any other game.

Here is what I use for PDF making.

Also, what class of ship would you call this?

Frigate? Destroyer? Cruiser?

It's main intention is going to be escort and black-ops -- it will be somewhat stealth fitted plus having some decent sensor and comm jamming capabilities. We came up with a crew compliment of about 15 souls, not including the marine squad. This is a ship modified by one of the PC's.

If it's owned independently of any government, they can call it a Butt-Kicker if they want to. :D

Re: [Deck Plans] Merc / Independent Cruiser

OK, I'm trying to put this into a PDF using that thing.

What I need is a good export template capable of being pasted into word, so I can put it all in word then convert to PDF.

Unless there is a better way -- like, using that program to combine 3 files into a single PDF? I guess I could save the sheet, convert it to PDF, then combine them?

Those that use that PDF maker care to give me some pointers?

Basically PDF995 acts like a printer. If you can make a single document out of something and print it, you can make a PDF out of it.

Any of the RTF-based templates should work. I personally prefer the ones made by Robert P. Miller (check out the Free Stuff section of the site). Those export directly into MS Word, then you can make any minor edits for formatting, add in the plans and a map key, and voila. :D

Re: [Deck Plans] Merc / Independent Cruiser

This is going to drive me freaking mad.

None of the export templates paste into word in any usable fashion. They are all WAY outside the margins, and no amount of editing will fix it. Just when I think I have it right, it suddenly breaks another table and I have a 1 character wide column going 15 pages down.

Starwolf, that offer still stand?

Re: [Deck Plans] Merc / Independent Cruiser

Well, I'd post the character sheet here, but the "Hero Boards" export template doesn't seem to work on the boards. You see all the codes and <>'s and it won't format the post correctly.

I'd host it but the only hosting I currently have available is for images. I'm looking at having a website for this stuff soon, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Anyone who wants it, post or PM me your address and I'll email it to you.

Re: [Deck Plans] Merc / Independent Cruiser

Thanks to StarWolf, the .pdf is now available.

Unfortunately, I don't have a place to host it right now.

Anyone got some advice on where to do free/cheap file hosting?

Also, I'd be interested in finding an artist of some type to make a depiction of the ship, if anybody knows of someone who might do such.

OK, here it be.

The picture is from http://www.scifi-meshes.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/949/limit/views and may be replaced at some point.

Thanks again for all the input, I'll hopefully have my second ship done by next week.

We had session 1 last night, I'll be putting up a campaign log at some point too.
