Psionic metal?

McCoy

Recommended Posts

I am currently suffering from CRS (Can't Remember Squat). Seems like I remember a fictional metal that psiamps, psionics amplifiers, can be made from, other than Nth metal in the DC universe, but can't remember what it was called or the source material.

Not Bradley's starstones, those were crystals, but metal.

Does this ring any bells for anyone?

Thanking everyone in advance.

I don't know about bells, but how about gongs and singing bowls?

I think you're looking for the alloy Tibetan monks used to make singing bowls from.

Lucius Alexander

The palindromedary points out to Lucius that McCoy specified a FICTIONAL metal

What do you mean "used to?" Still made, usually of brass, but Orichulum could be close.

Re: Psionic metal?

Partial victory, brain has finally kicked loose "where."

It was Cascade Point a novella by Timothy Zahn. Hugo award winner 1984, anybody got it handy?

Damn! My Analog collection doesn't go back quite that far. I'll look for it in my anthologies.

Edit: Nope, only reprinted three times, and I don't have it. Sorry.

Re: Psionic metal?

Not in the book store, not in the used book store, not in the public library, and, most suprising, not available as an e-book from Baen.

Had to order a hard copy from Amazon.

Did you happen to check eBay first? I saw some very cheap copies there. Though i imagine Amazon's weren't terribly expensive.

Amazon had used for a penny, and would take my debit card. eBay always wants paypal or some other bizzare payment form.

I think it was less than five dollars with express shipping.

Would still have preferred paying more for an e-book.
