Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

Metal Girl

Background Kanti Thapa was just one of many girls living in the countryside of Nepal, she kept her head down and scratched out a living as a farmer while trying to stay out of the conflicts between the Communists and Royalists. Her family was quite afraid for her though, because Kanti was a rare beauty, and it was only a matter of time before it got them all in trouble. As a result, she and her family had more respect for the Communists and their militant feminism than they did for the government.

Eventually a government soldier did try to rape Kanti during a raid on her village. They were looking for Communist sympathisers, which in that part of the countryside consisted of just grabbing whoever took their interest. Suddenly, all the metal in the room flew at him, and through him. By the time it was all over Knati was wrapped in metal armor and the soldiers were all dead. She is the only Nepalese person to develop powers. The others (The Voice of the People, Mahesh, and Red Mountain) are expatriots from other places. As a result Metal Girl is a revered member of the People's Uber Squad.

Metal Girl's powers are much in demand, and she knows lots of subtle applications of her power. She's one of the most clever members of the People's Uber Guard when it comes to applying those powers. She's learned a lot about metals and metal fabrication in recent years, and is much in demand just for her ability to fix guns and vehicles with no tools or equipment.

Personality Metal Girl is very much still a teenager, though one who's lived in a harsh and unforgiving world alien to most Westerners. As her status has increased it has exposed her to the wider world, and she's taken great interest in western culture that disturbs the more hard line Maoists. If any of the People's Uber Squad were to accept negotiation with the government in order to sue for peace it's her. She's not an idealogue like the others, which puts some stress on her relationship with Red Mountain.

Kanti would just like to live and let live. Much of what she's done over the years has traumatized her, as she has killed people, though she does try to avoid it. The Communist ideologues who surround Red Mountain and the Voice make her nervous. She for one would welcome a Parliamentary Democracy, and she finds comfort in the fact that most of the people in the countryside share her feelings.

Quote "Please don't make this a fight."

Powers Metal Girl can control metals psychokinetically, and her powers are NOT magnetic in any way. She can just reach out with her mind to sense, reshape, and move metals in a way similar to how a telekinetic can. Her control over that small subgroup of objects is much finer and more flexible than most telekinetics can manage. She can make a metal move like a liquid without heating it, and can cause bullets and shrapnel to evaporate into dust, or redirect them. Many of metal girl's skills rely on her powers, so if her powers were suppressed she'd lose her feel for those skills as well.

Almost all of Metal Girl's powers are indirect, or can be made indirect through applications of Stretching, and she's very clever in applying this to her advantage. She can use her power skill for "one off" tricks and subtle applications of her abilities. Some examples would be transforming raw ore into refined metal, repairing metal machines, reshaping her armor into a parachute or glider wing, or picking locks by shaping a key inside the lock.

Metal Girl does not hunt people, and does her best to avoid combat. It's just as well that the government has never provoked her as they have Mahesh or the people who surround the Voice. She's capable of doing a lot of damage to buildings and military equipment, so a destructive rampage by Metal Girl would be monumental.

To make her more powerful increase her DEX, CON and SPD. If that's still not enough increase the active points of her MPP and EC. To reduce her powers do the opposite.

Appearance Kanti is a remarkably attractive nineteen year old girl despite everything she's been through. When using her powers she wraps herself in a mass of metal that constantly shapes and molds around her body, so she looks like a living metal statue. Often with tendrils and spiderlike limbs of metal emerging from it to assist her as she runs, climbs, or grabs distant objects. As a result she's the only member of the group to maintain anything like a non-Public ID.

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

Red Mountain

Background Mai Kuang Long is not Nepalese. He's a Chinese man who fled from China when his powers emerged. He was raised by his grandfather, a hard line Maoist who did not approve of the new capitalist China. When Kuang developed his powers his grandfather ordered him to Nepal to join the Nepalese Communist insurgency. Kuang's grandfather was certain that his grandson was the only hope that country's Maoists had of surviving attacks from India and China. He was certain that from Nepal a great new Communist revolution would spread across China again.

At first, Kuang kept a low profile, and simply worked as a common farmer and soldier. Eventually he was shot, and the bullets bounced off, though they did enough damage to enrage Kuang. His strength magnified even further, and he destroyed an entire regiment of soldiers all by himself. The Nepalese have taken to calling him Red Mountain, which makes Kuang more nervous than anything. He fears that The Immortals may make a serious effort to come after him some day, though he's reassured by being part of a group that includes people like Metal Girl and Mahesh Paudel.

Personality Kuang was raised in one of the more remote and backwards areas of Western China by a VERY old fashioned elder of Mao's generation. As a result he's rather naive. More than anything Kuang is a Communist. He's been raised on a nothing but the Red Book, and he doesn't react well to having his beliefs contradicted. More than any of the People's Squad he's having trouble coming to terms with the insurgency making deals with the government in order to sue for peace. The only thing that Kuang really fears is a strike force of Chinese Ubers dragging him back to China to indoctrinate him into being one of their pet ubers.

Red Mountain wants to see proper Maoist Communism be the ruling force in Nepal, and he sincerely believes that once established in Nepal that rule will spread through the world as workers unite and throw off their oppressors. He's also known to be in a relationship with Metal Girl, or at least it's strongly suspected, as the two of them are often seen working together while Mahesh and the Voice are often working on their own. He is very protective of Metal Girl, and through her may some day learn to be more flexible in his thinking.

Quote "Now is the time for all good Workers to Unite against Injustice!"

Powers Red Mountain is simply a brick, and there's nothing too much more flashy about him than that. However, he's VERY strong and tough, and of all the members of the People's Uber Squad he's probably one of the most dangerous. The exceptional thing about Red Mountain is that he's exceptional at throwing objects, and is as much a ranged combat specialist as brick when he has objects about to throw.

Red Mountain loves throwing things, and he's VERY good at it. In any combat he'll usually use leaping to keep a distance from the enemy and lob large objects (boulders typically) at people. He tends to go for big targets that are easy for him to hit. Tanks and other armored vehicles by preference. When Mahesh or Metal Girl are around to direct him Red Mountain is even more dangerous. He's not subtle on his own, but takes well to orders. One of the more common tricks is for Metal Girl to Entangle or Mahesh to grab someone so Red Mountain can get a grip on them easily and throw them as far away as possible. Another common trick is for Metal Girl to transform a large awkward missile into something aerodynamic for him.

Red Mountain doesn't hunt people unless they're a serious threat to the Party, and even then only with advice and guidance from one of the other members of the group.

To make Red Mountain more powerful increase his STR, DEX, and SPD. To make him less dangerous remove his throwing abilities and reduce his STR.

Appearance Red Mountain is a massively built asiatic man. He's from a remote part of Western China, closer to Tibet than to the Eastern parts of China, so he blends in well with the Nepalese people. He does speak with a distinct accent, so word has gotten out that he is Chinese. It's only a matter of time before this gets him in trouble, and since he's well over seven feet tall and massively built he won't be difficult to find. Like the other members of the People's Uber Squad he doesn't have a costume, but wears a plain and functional military style clothing.

#124 TANIWHA (New Zealand)

taniwha.jpg

TANIWHA

Zac Te Huna

Character Sheet (Click Here)

Background

Sixteen year old Zac Te Huna was on a post-season rugby trip to the Bay of Plenty when he and his fellow team mates were swamped by a freak wave. The team was quickly plucked to safety except for Zac who was lost, presumed drowned. The following day his body was recovered and taken to a hospital where fate intervened in the guise of a young doctor, Cadbury Jones. Jones was actually an uberhuman with uncontrollable powers of regeneration, and while he assisted with the autopsy, his powers rejuvenated Zac before any major surgical work was initiated. Zac was pronounced a miracle and after several weeks of observation was sent back to his family in Auckland.

Only days after returning home, Zac began to experience strange waking dreams where he was communing with a spirit, a taniwha. The spirit told him that he had been sent back to the living world to guard the Maori. Soon after these strange visions Zac found that the water in his immediate vicinity would act... strangely. While in the shower the water would spiral around his body as if playing in the air. Even a small amount of water would be enough to trigger his powers. While walking through puddles he accidentally triggered a flash flood and had water gushing down the street. While it caused only minor damage, it was enough to frighten Zac into staying indoors.

Cadbury Jones discovered what had happened and made his way to visit the young rugby player. Cadbury was also experiencing strange uber powers and the two young men were able to support each other while they came to terms with the strange new abilities at their fingertips. Cadbury soon mastered his powers and went on to become Nostrum of the Southern Knights, but Zac was younger and forced himself back to school, even though hero work appealed to him. He finished his school and won a scholarship based on his grades and skill on the rugby field. At university he studied architecture, but as the months passed, he found that his powers as an uberhuman were often called upon. Nostrum spent most of his time in Australia so New Zealand was frequently without a guardian.

Zac took on the guise of Taniwha and began a career as a public hero. At first he often made mistakes but he quickly found his 'feet' and was received with wide acclaim by the people of New Zealand. With the help of Nostrum he has established himself as New Zealand's resident hero and most recently he has become more vocal in the public arena in areas of politics and race relations, much to the chagrin of the government.

Personality

At first Zac was a wildly enthusiastic and adventurous youth, but since finishing university he has decided that his career as a public super hero requires more level-headedness. He avoids politics and bureaucracy but cannot help commenting on government actions or, in his eyes, inactions. He is a very patient young man and is rarely goaded into fights, whether it be against super villains or political opponents. This patience has earned him support in the general population and he is regarded as a friendly hero who really does look out for the people.

Zac has become more politically minded recently and has had a tattoo (moko) painted on his face which caused something of a stir. He remembers the early visions he experienced soon after he was brought back from the dead, and he realises that he was brought back to protect the interests of the Maori people first, and the people of New Zealand second. So far this has not caused conflict, but he knows that somewhere in the future a decision will have to be made. That is what the life of heroes is all about, after all: hard decisions.

Quote

"There really are things out there in the world that we can't explain. Sometimes it's best to not even give it a thought. If something happened, it happened. Deal with it or it will deal with you."

Powers

Taniwha seems to have been imbued with a spiritual magic since being brought back from the dead by Nostrum. He has mentioned voices in his head which may indicate he has a guardian spirit. His tattoos provide him with protection from all forms of harm, and while the artist was not magical, it has been suggested that the ink was found in an underwater cave once guarded by a powerful taniwha, or water spirit. Zac is able to fly as well, which does not appear to be related to his uberhuman abilities to control water, and they could, therefore, be another manifestation of his spirit magic.

Zac's uberhuman abilities focus on water control, or Aquakinesis. He is able to manipulate existing water to such an extent that he is able to create larger quantities of it from a small source. He can use the water to create powerful blasts, watery shields which can also grapple opponents, and he can even create fog. As could be expected of someone with Zac's powers, he can also breathe underwater.

Appearance

Zac Te Huna comes from the Ngai Tahu tribe of the North Island. He is a well built young man who has been a superb rugby player for most of his life. His uberhuman gene has also boosted his physical condition so he is now very tall and muscled. When he first appeared as a superhero, Zac favoured a red and black costume which covered his entire body except for his head. Now that he has become more political he has discarded much of that costume and now only wears a black loin cloth, over shorts, and a red cape fastened by two circular jade reliefs. His face has been tattooed with a protective pattern and has become Zac's calling card.

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

Due to Kosova recently breaking away from Serbia, and also due to the NPC I wrote for Montenegro, Tribe and I came up with a super-villian team we named the Serbian Six. So without further ado. Serbian Six

SERBIAN SIX

serbiansix.jpg

http://www.uber-world.com/serbiansix.htm

Background

Not much was known as the Serbian Six until recently. The group of Serbian uberhumans made the news in a daring rescue mission to free Slobodan Milosivic who was standing war crimes trials at the Hague in the Netherlands. Unfortunately Slobodan died of a heart attack before the Serbian Six were able to rescue him.

Outside the prison, Drvo was creating a distraction to let the others get into the prison. Drvo’s method of creating a distraction was to burn down a lot of buildings thus diverting any super-hero interference. The plan worked too well, because several super-hero teams did show up: Dawnstars, Trinity, and the Brotherhood. Luckily for the Serbian Six, Armstrong and Sting got into a heated argument that allowed the Serbian Six to escape. They’re thought to have returned to Serbia.

Intelligence released by Europol has indicated that during the Yugoslav Wars, the various members of Serbian Six involved themselves in what would be considered war crimes. Whole villages were decimated by the Serbian Six.

Later intelligence suggested that the Serbian Six were actually uberhumans that were collected at birth by scientists in the employee of Slobodan Milosivic. The exact purpose of this program remains unclear to this day, due to the fact that the current government of Serbia doesn’t acknowledge the existence of such a program. However, it has been proven that each of the ubers code names are numbers in the Serbian language.

Since returning to Serbia, the Serbian Six have made a couple of attempts to overthrow the government of Serbia, and have clashed with military and super-heroes and super-villains of the republics that made up Yugoslavia, notably Doctor Kojic, Specula, and Pobjeda.

Area of Operations

The Serbian Six operate out of several former secret bases across Serbia. These were the places that they were raised. Otherwise, Serbian Six moves across Serbia in disguised moving vans. They’re fighting a guerrilla war with Serbia and it pays to keep on the move.

Goals

When the Serbian Six were working for Slobodan Milosivic their primary goal was to follow their “fathers” commands. One of his commands was to cause as much destruction as they could during the Yugoslav Wars. This the Serbian Six did quite well.

With the loss of “father” the Serbian Six were at loose ends. Some of the members thought of leaving the group, but it was Neko who came up with the idea of overthrowing the Serbian government and installing themselves as the nations leaders. This idea appealed to the majority, and this is now their primary goal. However, once this goal is achieved the Serbian Six will turn their attention to the breakaway republics and reunite Yugoslavia.

Reputation

Not much is known about Serbian Six, and they aren’t too well known outside of the Balkan States. Their one claim to fame was their failed rescue attempt of Slobodan Milosevic at the Hague. Their rescue attempt brought them to the attention of several European super-hero teams.

In the Balkan States, notably in Serbia, they’re seen as a major threat to the government. The Serbian Six have several times have attempted to overthrow the government. Their actions have also been against the breakaway republics, like Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, and recently Kosova.

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

Each of the Six were given code names that are numbers in Serbian. For example the leader of the group goes by the name of Neko, or One in Serbian.

NEKO

neko.jpg

Background

Was it all about power? Was it all about Ethnic Purity? History would be the judge of Slobodan Milosevic. The great tyrant would except no earthly judgement on his actions. In times of war, when the great nation of Yugoslavia was tearing itself a part like a madman, it was Slobodan who stood firm against the chaos. Slobodan who knew the signs. Slobodan who had to make the difficult decisions. Let history judge, Slobodan saw himself as a true patriot.

Stephan was born in a state run orphanage. He never knew who his parents were. Stephan was given his name by a committee of state scientists. He was selected by the scientists because he obviously showed Ubergenetic tendencies. For the next several years Stephan was studied and educated. Stephan was introduced to his “family” when he was four. He never knew that there were others like him; he had been isolated by the scientists since birth. Stephan naturally assumed the “older brother” role over the other children. The scientists watched and noted their interactions. Over the years the children bonded into a family.

Puberty is usually the point in a Uberhumans life when the Ubergene generally becomes active. Stephan was no exception to this. Further testing of Stephan showed that he was developing superhuman strength. However, no studies showed any other power forthcoming. To bolster his strength, Stephan was given some military training. The scientists grew a little upset with Stephan because he destroyed so many of the firearms he was given. Stephan was really starting to resent the scientists. In a fit of rage, Stephan attacked a steel plated wall that was his “bedroom” and demolished it. The scientists were impressed and a whole new bunch of tests were called for.

Stephan was shown to have the ability to break down the bonds between molecules, in effect weakening whatever he hit. When Slobodan heard of this he was ecstatic. When Stephan was finished with his training he was given the code-name Neko, or One in Serbian. Stephan was to be the leader of the other orphans, who collective would be known as the Siberian Six.

Things had grown worse in Yugoslavia. War had broken out, and the Serbian Six were called in to quash the upstart states of Bosnia, Slovenia, and others. The Serbian Six were right in the thick of it. They committed terrible acts of cruelty, right alongside others just like them. Stephan had his share of fighting as well.

All really came to an end when Slobodan was ousted from power. Stephan and the others found themselves cut loose from the government that had nurtured and supported them for all their young lives. As for Slobodan he was taken to the Hague in the Netherlands.

Lost without their “father” Stephan encouraged the others to travel to the Hague with him to free their “father”. It was child’s play for them to infiltrate the Hague; the prison hadn’t been built to resist Uberhumans. Stephan was the first to get to Slobodan.

Stephan was shocked to see the former President of Yugoslavia. When the man demanded that Stephan free him, it outraged Stephan. In a rage Stephan punched Slobodan in the chest, killing him instantly. As he laid down his “father” the others made their way into the cell. They hadn’t seen what Stephan had done.

“What happened?” asked Dvoje

“Father,” had a heart attack said Stephan tearing up.

The others believed him completely. Stephan was their big brother, was he not.

Outside the prison, the Serbian Six ran right into a whole lot of trouble. Facing them was the Dawnstars, along with the Brotherhood, and Trinity from France. A battle royal ensued. However, things improved when Armstrong of the Brotherhood and Sting of Trinity got into a major argument. This was all the opening Stephan needed, and he and his family escaped back to Serbia.

In new Serbia, Stephan offered their services to the new government, but he was rebuffed. This didn’t settle too well with Stephan and his siblings. Maybe they should be the ones in charge of Serbia? Maybe, just maybe.

Personality

Stephan has a lot of repressed anger. This anger is from his days under the authority of the Yugoslav scientists. The many experiments that they performed on him and his siblings angered him, but there was nothing he could do it about it then. Now things are different, but still Stephan has trouble expressing his anger. This repressed anger is what caused Stephan to kill his “Father.”

Stephan doesn’t like to be told what to, especially when he has decided what he’s going to do. This at times has caused stress between him and his siblings, especially when they disagree with him, which isn’t often. Stephan has a hard time believing that his siblings wouldn’t follow him anything he has decided to do.

Stephan is very protective of his siblings in Serbian Six. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them, so far as they listen to what he says. Stephan’s first and last concern is for the others in his family.

Quote

"More uberhuman than uberhuman. That's what Father was always saying."

Powers

Stephan is an Uber with two major powers. His most devastating power is the ability to weaken the molecular bond in organic and non-organic material. For example, with a mere touch, Stephan reduced the tensile strength of steel to the strength of aluminum foil. This ability affects humans as well. Plus the effects are long lasting.

His second major power is his superhuman strength. While Stephan isn’t the strongest uberhuman in the world, he can certainly hold his own. Stephan was known for throwing around trucks during the Yugoslavian Wars. He has also found a way to climb walls by poking holes in them creating handholds.

Stephan has a minor power to regenerate from almost any wound.

While under the authority of the scientists, Stephan was trained in how to handle firearms. Even today, Stephan likes to keep a firearm handy in case his other powers don’t prove strong enough.

Appearance

Stephan is a handsome young man with long blond hair. He’s of average built, and weight, which belies his superhuman strength. Stephan has eschewed wearing a formal costume since the fall of Yugoslavia. Instead he wears a suit of body armor, under a pair of well worn brown slacks and green fatigue shirt. Of course Stephan likes to pack around a sub-machine gun wherever he goes.

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

DVOJE

dvoje.jpg

http://www.uber-world.com/dvoje.htm

Background

Mihajlo and his twin sister, Larisa, were taken away from their parents soon after their birth. Serbian scientists identified them as potential uberhumans and the President had orders that all such children would be raised by the State. They were taken to a State-run orphanage where they grew up segregated from the other children. When they were six, the twins were introduced to Stephen, another uberhuman. The older boy took them under his wing and over time became their big brother: a protector and a guide to the institutions around them.

Mihajlo and Larisa seemed to lack humanity. They rarely showed emotion and when tragedy struck, as it did so often in their presence, they merely watched. The greater the tragedy the less inclined they were to show any kind of interest. When children started breaking in the impoverished playground, Mihajlo simply turned his back and watched the clouds skate across the sky. Larisa developed an interest, though, and when the children's bones started to pop out of their skin, the smallest smile flickered on her face.

When they were old enough, their 'father' President Milosevic ordered that his Serbian Six be activated to fight revolutionary tendencies across Bosnia and other rogue states. Mihajlo found this period to be dreadfully boring. He participated in the ethnic cleansing but had no interest in pursuing it after the war was drawn to a conclusion. Larisa seemed to be the opposite, embracing the wanton destruction even more so than their older brother, Stephen. Mihajlo followed his sister as a matter of course, not really thinking about options.

When Slobodan Milosevic was taken to The Hague for War Crimes, Stephen and the rest of Serbian Six attempted a rescue. Mihajlo agreed, although he never really managed to feel anything for his 'father' except distant acceptance. When Milosevic was found dead in the prison, Serbian Six was left without a leader.

The missing leader role was quickly filled by Stephen, Neko. The others accepted the move. It was, to most of them, the only option available. As the number two, Mihajlo or Dvoje, had no interest in any kind of leadership position. He also lacked the initiative to make a grab for power.

When Stephen called for an attack on all rogue states Mihajlo agreed. If Serbia could not be run by Milosevic then surely it should fall to his special children?

Personality

Mihajlo is comfortable in his world where he is supremely powerful and nothing can touch him. He has very little compassion, even for his twin sister. When he looks out from behind his seemingly-fragile spectacles he sees a world of animated corpses. He can manipulate the world without having to touch it and does so also with obsessive verve. Rarely does he allow his skin to come into contact with anything.

Quote

"I suppose the best course of action is to follow the lead of Neko. So far he hasn't managed to get us killed and that must be counted as a positive sign."

Powers

Dvoje is a powerful telekinetic like his sister, although his powers are physical rather than mental. He is able to manipulate physical and liquid objects and produce devastating force blasts and protective force shields. On his own he is quite the adversary but as artillery support and occasional cover, Dvoje makes the Serbian Six a very dangerous and destructive adversary.

Appearance

Since the death of Milosevic, the Serbian Six have refused to wear uniforms. Instead, Mihajlo wears whatever is comfortable. He has no concern about being touched or sullied by anyone since his telekinesis prevents almost any form of contact. He has straight silver-white hair, bright blue eyes and wire-framed spectacles.

DRVO

drvo.jpg

http://www.uber-world.com/drvo.htm

Background

Josip was about six months old when his mother brought him to the state run clinic in Bor. She said her baby was turning a grey pigment and was running a high fever. The doctor took one look at the infant and called Belgrade. Soon a team of scientists were at the clinic, and swiftly returned to Belgrade. As for Josip’s mother she was told that the infant had died. Heartbroken she later committed suicide.

The scientists quickly learned that Josip had the latent ubergene, and by orders of Slobodan Milosovic all the children with the gene were required to be taken into custody. In the end there were six children who showed signs of the gene. Josip was the third find by the scientists, and given the code-name: Drvo, or Three.

Josip grew up around the scientists, and the other children in a special orphanage. At an early age, Josip quickly developed anti-social behaviors. He was abusive to the scientists (most didn’t like to work with Josip), especially after a tantrum that sent six of them to the hospital. Only Stephan seemed to be able to get through to the boy, and that wasn’t always a given.

When Josip’s ubergene became active his skin which had already turned completely grey now developed the hardness of the hardest granite. Superhuman strength quickly followed. However, Josip most devastating power was the ability create sparks by running his hands over his chest, and with a little control, Josip could create flames. Josip developed one other power, and that was the ability to run at great speeds. All these powers in a young man like Josip spelled a lot of trouble for the scientists.

Josip was isolated from everyone. The only person he was allowed to see was Stephan. Josip railed against Stephan and the scientists to no avail. Stephan was finally able to calm Josip by telling him of his namesake: Marshal Josip Tito. Of course, Stephan being isolated himself from society really didn’t know much about Tito, and made a lot of it up. Josip was fascinated by Stephans’ tales, and decided he would help make Yugoslavia a better place too, like Marshal Tito.

During the Yugoslav Wars, Josip was called upon to one of the Serbian Six. Josip relished in all the destruction he was allowed to commit. Whole villages were consumed in flames. Josip was just getting started when the whole thing was over. “Father” was arrested by his own people and sent to the Hague for crimes against humanity.

Josip along with the rest of Serbian Six were at loose ends. It was Stephan who suggested that the six travel to the Netherlands and free Slobodan Milosivic. At first Josip was against the idea, but Stephan brought him around.

Josip was used as a distraction while Stephan and others infiltrated the prison. He destroyed several high rises in the area, and unfortunately garnered more attention than he thought he would. Three different super-hero groups showed up. Luckily for Josip, none of them really could keep up with him. Even before Stephan and the others were out of the prison, Josip was halfway to Serbia.

Later when the remainder of Serbian Six, they were all really pissed off at Josip about him running away. Naturally Josip blamed them for him fleeing. Josip was all for heading off in his own direction when Stephan proposed taking over Serbia. He seemed to take to the idea. Josip could change Serbia like he had meant to do while under “Fathers” command, but this time he’d do it right.

Personality

Josip likes people think that he’s a mature person, but always seems to go about it in the wrong way. He thinks he’s mature, but his actions prove how immature he can be. Of course Josip doesn’t take lip from anybody, and will gladly bust up anyone disagreeing with him.

Josip is also a bully. He likes picking on people, just to get a reaction out of them. He used to pick on the other members of Serbian Six, but quickly found out that they can certainly stand up against him, even the freak Petica. Nowadays, Josip confines his bullying to normals, and the occasional super-hero who crosses his path, like Pobjeda. Josip would really like to smash that guys face in for good.

Another bad habit of Josip is his sarcasm. He just can’t seem to help himself. The more bitting a comment, the better. Stephan certainly doesn’t allow Josip to make speeches for Serbian Six. Not that this keeps Josip quiet or anything. Josip will speak his mind, and anyone who disagree better have their fire insurance payed up.

Quote

"I will give everything from myself to make sure that Serbia is great, not just geographically but great in spirit, and I'll burn down the entire countryside if I have to make my point."

Powers

Josip is an Uberhuman who can transform his skin into a stony-like substance. His skin share properties similar to flint in that he can strike it and have it give off sparks. Josip is so skilled at striking sparks that he’s even able to create a constant flame by using his superhuman speed. He’s surrounded by flames that don’t harm him, but anyone striking him are bound to be burned.

Josip’s second ability is the ability to run really fast. He’s so fast that he can run almost any surface, except water. On water Josip skins. Fortunately, while his skin is stone-like, it doesn’t weight the same as stone, and Josip is able to swim. However, Josip can easily run up the side of a build, all the while setting it on fire.

Appearance

Josip is a large man whose skin is completely grey. His red hair matches his eyes. Mostly clothing cannot stand up to his abrasive skin, and as such Josip usually goes shirtless. Like the rest of Serbian Six, Josip doesn’t wear a costume. Instead he wears heavy loose fitting denim trousers, along with a gold sash. On his feet he wears expensive running shoes. When using his fiery powers, Josip is surrounded by a fiery aura.

CETIRI

cetiri.jpg

http://www.uber-world.com/characterpage.php?cid=951

Background

Milena Milosivic, like the rest of the Serbian Six is an orphan. She hasn’t taken much time to look back, because Milena spends most of her time looking forward. As a child she was constantly hyper, but in a way that the scientists liked. Milena has an insatiable appetite for learning, and at the age of four she could read and write.

It was only later that the scientists regretted the young girls hyper-intelligence, especially after she hacked into their computer systems, and then forwarded all the embezzling they were doing to her “father”. Needless to say those scientists disappeared the next day. Milena really did miss them.

Her only other passion besides machines, was gymnastics. Milena tried her best to get her “siblings” interested in the sport, but most scoffed at her idea, or just ignored her like Dvoje. It was only her big brother Neko who showed the slightest interest, but he proved too inflexible for tumbling and quickly gave up.

One of Milena’s biggest finds was schematics for a solid light projector, by some dead scientist from India. It’s amazing what one can find on the internet. At first Milena thought it’d be cool to build a light baton for use with her gymnastics, but it was Neko who convinced to build it like a weapon.

When Yugoslavia went to war tearing itself into independent republics, the Serbian Six were called into the fighting as well. This was their real reason for existence. At first Milena was enthusiastic about the whole thing, but quickly grew horrified at the actions of the others. By the end of the war, Milena was using more of her time hiding people, or helping them escape the country. She would’ve left Serbian Six, but as bad as some of them were, they were still the only family she knew.

Milena felt a lot of relief when “father” was sent to the Hague for war crimes. She certainly knew that he was a “bad” person. However, Milena was dumbfounded when Neko proposed that they all go to the Hague to rescue Slobodan. She was going to argue the point with Neko, but she knew how headstrong he could be, and gave up. Milena went along with the others, but held back. She knew someone had to rein in the carnage the rest of the Serbian Six could do.

When Neko had Drvo act as a decoy for them to get into the prison, Milena knew she had to act. Feigning an equipment failure, she broadcast a call to the Dawnstars, not realizing how many super-heroes would actually show up. Milena was the last of the Serbian Six to make it to Slobodan’s cell, and was just as glad that he was dead.

Outside the prison, more super-heroes than Milena had ever seen before were arguing. Neko gave the order, and Milena pulled out one of her Escape Clause gizmo’s, and in quick order the Serbian Six were on their way back to Serbia.

Melina thought that things would come down, but in fact they didn’t. Neko had proposed that with “father” dead it was up to them to take over Serbia, and install themselves as the leaders of the Serbian people. Melina had a sinking feeling in her stomach. She guessed she’d have to remain with the Serbian Six to make sure they didn’t turn into another Slobodan Milosovic.

Personality

Since a young age, Milena has been interested in machines. Give her some device she hasn’t seen before, and Milena will spend hours on it trying to modify it or fix if it was broken. Milena has proven to be a natural with machines. This is one of the reasons Professor is after her.

Milena has always had a sunny personality. She’s a favorite of almost all of the Serbian Six. Even Drvo doesn’t pick on her much. She has Neko, and Petica practically eating out of her hand. Dvoje and Sestorica tolerate Milena the best they can.

Unlike most of the Serbian Six, Milena isn’t a killer. She’s never killed anyone in her life, and isn’t about to start. During the Yugoslav Wars, Milena did her best to assist people caught in the war. She did her best to keep this information from “father” and the others. Most of the time she pretended to kill someone, but use her spare parts to instead whisk them away without her siblings finding out.

Quote

"Gee that's just swell."

Powers

Milena always had to affinities, machines and gymnastics. If she wasn’t an uberhuman it would remain to be seen which path she would’ve taken. Milena has built herself a light baton based upon some plans she found on the internet. Using the baton, she can program the device to project a variety of solid light shapes, from balls, to blades. Milena has trained with the baton, and can easily use it as a weapon.

Milena has trained in gymnastics since she was little, and even has developed her own form of martial arts based upon gymnastics. It’s a lot of flips, cartwheels, and powerful kicks. Milena even uses her light baton when performing her martial arts.

In addition to her light baton, Milena always seems to have a few extra gadgets and gizmos on hand. The boots of her costume, allow her to fly after a fashion, and even let her leap tall buildings in a single bound. Naturally her costume is reinforced.

Appearance

Melina is an athletic young woman with long brown hair. She’s extremely flexible, and can bend her body into painful looking shapes. Unlike the rest of Serbian Six, Melina still wears a costume. It’s a red skintight leotard with silvery circuits built into it. In addition she has matching gloves and boots.

Melina also packs a device she calls a “light baton”. The baton can project a beam of solid light, and base upon what Melina programs it, shapes into a variety of blades, balls, or just a straight line of light.

PETICA

petica1.jpg

http://www.uber-world.com/petica.htm

Background

Srecko was raised in an orphanage along with five other uberhuman 'orphans', although the exact status of his parents has never been explained to him. There are reports that his mother died in childbirth as he duplicated himself. Srecko suffered some brain damage during the delivery and has always had difficulty learning, or even following directions.

He became known as Petica, one of Slobodan Milosevic's Serbian Six: a role he relished because it allowed him to leave the orphanage. During the fighting across Serbia, Bosnia and the other Balkan States, Srecko participated in horrendous acts but never realised the implications because he was never taught right from wrong.

When he came to torch a house in Kosovo, Srecko found himself strangely drawn to the family's pet dog. He destroyed the house, killed the two inhabitants but took the dog away. For days he looked after the dog, never leaving it alone for a minute. One night he tried to keep the dog quiet. It had been barking non-stop because Srecko had failed to feed it for two days. When the dog wouldn't stop, Srecko killed it by smothering it to his chest.

Rather than an isolated incident, the case with the dog has been reproduced several times with other stray animals and even young children. The other members of the Serbian Six discourage him from taking children, but don't seem to care about his behaviour when it comes to animals. In fact, Sestorica finds it amusing that the 'big oaf' doesn't realise what he is doing. She encourages him to show his pets affection, knowing that his clumsy strength will ultimately kill them.

Personality

Srecko doesn't really understand what he is doing. He lives with his family and trusts them completely. He has been taught to love Serbia and to do her bidding, but now that the Serbian Six have become independent from the State he listens to Stephan even more intently, not wanting to insult his brother by doing the wrong thing.

Quote

"Nice puppy dog... come to Srecko... he protect you now. Be good master."

Powers

Petica is a duplicator, able to generate up to five identical bodies from his own. These duplicates seemingly rip their way out of Petica's body with sprays of blood and tearing of ligament and bone. It does no damage to Srecko because he has an uberhuman regenerative ability. Petica serves as the Serbian Six's disposable army. He can walk into any situation and be blasted to bits, but Srecko won't mind.

He can manipulate his bones just as easily as his body, and usually protrudes his bones out of his body to use as weapons. This usually disgusts his opponents but Srecko doesn't see what is wrong with it. He can also flip his bones to the outside of his body to form a kind of carapace - a bony exoskeleton which provides him with great protection.

Appearance

The first impression people usually have when they see Srecko is that he looks like a body only half-finished. His body is taut and bones seem to be threatening to break the surface, while in other places his body seems too long or too short. He usually wears a dopey grin on his face. His eyes are shadowed by a heavy brow ridge and his head is bald and misshapen.

While he generally wears whatever is comfortable, when acting with the Serbian Six he usually wears a simple brown cloth around his waist and brass coils around his ankles and wrists.

SESTORICA

sestorica.jpg

http://www.uber-world.com/sestorica.htm

Background

Larisa was taken from her mother within a few weeks of her birth so she has no memory of the woman, however, she has been plagued by vivid dreams ever since can remember. In these dreams she can see her mother, but her mother is horrible and twisted. Larisa is tortured in these dreams and torn apart by various insidious devices. She has long since stopped waking from these dreams screaming at the top of her lungs. She has accepted them as she has accepted everything else about her life.

Larisa and her twin brother Mihajlo were raised in a State-run orphanage specifically tailored to train young uberhumans. The twins were both able to manipulate the world around them simply through thought. Larisa tended to act out her insidious dreams and had to be chastised repeatedly for hurting the other children. She ignored the punishments and thought of new ways to break the other seemingly happy children.

When she was six she was introduced to her big brother, Stephen. She was initially unimpressed, but the longer she stayed in his charge the more she began to see a kindred spirit in him. His anger was delicious and her burgeoning telepathic abilities were drawn to him. She drifted from her brother to Stephen in a natural progression, and when the group of uberhuman 'orphans' were christened the Serbian Six she was at the forefront of their clandestine activities.

The Serbian Six were sent out to bring vengeance upon those dissidents who sought to break from Serbia. She thrilled in the bloody massacres, the ethnic cleansing. She was still a teenager but her bloodlust put even the most hardened soldier to shame. Of all the Serbian Six, it was Larisa who threw herself into the slaughter with the most abandon.

Milosevic thought she was devoted to him, but the slaughter and the torture were solely for her own pleasure. When she killed she thought of no one else. Stephen was a fragment of her past, Milosvic a pale ghost, her brother a distant hum.

But then the party stopped and Larisa was forcibly reeled in. Milosevic was taken to the Hague for crimes against humanity and the Serbian Six were wanted criminals. Her world had seemingly turned upside down and it was then that she turned to Stephen. He cradled her at night time and for a while she regressed to childhood. But then Stephen had an idea. They would storm the prison in the Hague and free their 'father'. At the thought of future mayhem, Larisa brightened. The Serbian Six were inspired. The Hague stood no chance at all.

Larisa discovered that even the best laid plans sometimes find themselves without a completely satisfying resolution. Their 'father' was dead, plagued by a heart attack, and their attack had been at least momentarily deflected by super heroes. But Stephen rallied the Six again and he boldly commanded them to take Serbia by force.

Larisa felt alive at the thought of ruling a country. She has planned her realm out to the last torture chamber, and is just waiting for the Serbian Six to topple the government and establish their rule.

Personality

Larisa is unhinged. She has been a sociopath since childhood and there seems to be no salvation for her in any immediate future. She was raised to be a weapon and that is what she has become: completely lethal and without remorse or pity. She will just as likely rip the skin off a little child as she would to pierce the heart of a hardened soldier with a fence post. As long as she is causing damage she is happy.

She looks to Stephen for guidance when things go haywire, and he has proven to be a direct and bold leader.

Quote

"So many ways to peel the heads off soldiers... and so little time!"

Powers

Sestorica is a powerful telekinetic whose powers are solely generated through her mind. She is able to manipulate the world around her and create force fields and levitate from the ground. As well as these psychokinetic abilities, Larisa is also a powerful telepath. She is able to create a mental link between her team mates which allows them to communicate through thought alone. She is also able to search crowds for minds as well as deliver stunning psionic charges and read minds.

Appearance

Larisa has very pale skin, blue eyes and a shock of white hair which tends to billow about her body as a result of her psychokinetic powers. She is chillingly beautiful but even her friends find her unsettling to be around.

Good Point! I had a lot of inspiration for team based on the movie "Soldier" starring Kurt Russell, except for a lot more "life", and the TV show "Dark Angel" starring Jessica Alba.

The line between whether a person with powers uses them for good or evil is probably a very thin one. Heck I guess the same could be said just about anyone. A person could live a good life, or be a burden on society.

Beneficiar - Nicaragua

BENEFICIAR

Alvaro Santo - Nicaragua

Character Sheet (Click Here)

Created by Glen Murie

Background

One of Central America's most powerful uberhumans is known as Beneficiar (Slaughter), and in keeping with this region's poor luck he's a monster in human form. He was a drug cartel member that started his life as a drug mule for the Contras and the CIA. Alvaro Santo was more than willing to sell out his old friends and allies for money and power. So when Iran-Contra blew up in the CIA's face he settled down in Nicaragua for the long term rather than face the music in the United States or Columbia. The DEA was on to him, and there were all those bodies in the basement of his house in Florida, that was getting difficult to deal with.

Alvaro liked killing people, and he did it rather a lot. By the time he was in his early twenties he had killed dozens of people, and not just on the orders of the Cartel. He would have been a monster no matter what, but at least just a human monster. However, each time Alvaro killed someone he got a little thrill from it. A little something extra. Just that little bit stronger or faster, and then he killed that little girl who could see the future. And afterwards Alvaro could also see the future.

So he did the easy thing, he joined the Contras and became a high ranking figure in that organization. While working for the Contras and the CIA Alvaro was able to wipe out all of Nicaragua's uberhuman population (what there was of it) and make a pretty solid dent in the number of uberhumans in Central America generally. For the time being he's contented himself with what he calls "lesser killings" until some better victims come along. He's canny enough not to go running after prey and put himself into a situation where he might get himself in too deep.

Alvaro is considered an ally of the United States. Although his hands are soaked in blood he's managed to cover up any killings of Americans or American allies. He's made himself comfortably wealthy by being a brutal tool of the CIA, various dictators around the world, and the drug cartels, but he spends most of his time at home in Nicaragua. Thanks to his newfound power Alvaro is going to be haunting the region for some time, attempts to hunt down the mysterious "cape killer" have failed. He can just fade into the countryside. Nicaragua is sparsely populated, so finding someone like Alvaro in the wilderness is next to impossible.

Beneficiar should be considered an ally of Malkin (Costa Rica) because she has no actual powers for him to steal she's relatively safe from him. He finds her amusing, as a master of a craft might find an ambitious apprentice amusing. He's also fond of El Disenador in much the same way a meat lover is fond of cattle ranchers.

Personality

Beneficiar is a homicidal maniac with the power to destroy just about any military or police force brought to bear upon him, and just about any uber powered person as well. He's canny enough not to let anyone know about this, but he's as powerful as just about any one other uberhuman and he knows it. Not just because of the many powers that he's stolen, but because he's a vicious serial killer with years of experience at killing people and evading capture.

Beneficiar is motivated mostly by instinct. He wants what he likes, and he likes killing and being safe. In most other respects he's deeply dysfunctional, and has difficulty relating to normal humans except as prey.

Quote

"Why Nicaragua? Because I like it here, lots of space, lots of wilderness. Yes. Very nice."

Powers

Beneficiar's powers are not built as a VPP or any complexity like conditional characteristic increases. Each time he kills another uber he gets a few dozen character points of powers and statistic increases (and vulnerabilities) that are based loosely on the powers of the person he's killed by GM's fiat. This shouldn't come up too often because Alvaro has decimated the local Uberhuman population, he doesn't travel much, and he gets little but enjoyment out of killing normal people. When he sees a low powered Uber he's likely to "snap them up", but he avoids open confrontations with the more powerful type of uber unless he's sure he can avoid retaliation. Note that he doesn't have to even kill another uberhuman, he just has to be around when it happens.

Beneficiar prefers to attack from ambush, using his skills to convince people that he's no threat, or even an ally. Best of all is when he can drug someone and take them away someplace safe to play with at his leisure. If he's ever discovered and forced into an open confrontation he'll pull out all the stops, using his martial arts and skills with great cleverness. He's studied uberhumans extensively, and will know about any weaknesses or shortcomings of an enemy that are publicly known. His first priority will be escape, but he'll be back to take his vengeance on anyone who discovers and reveals him.

Beneficiar doesn't actually actively hunt other Ubers despite his raw power. He's absorbed the powers of a super genius and a mild precognitive, so he knows how to plan for the long term. The way he sees it, he's immortal thanks to his regenerative powers, so there's little reason to rush. He will hunt anyone whom he sees as a direct threat to his safety and security. A number of police officers and their families have disappeared in Nicaragua, as well as one CIA case officer. To make Beneficiar more powerful give him the powers of any superbeings that you'd rather not use in your game. To make him less powerful shave away at his power sets and ability scores until he's down to the level you need, but make sure that he remains frighteningly skilled and intelligent.

Appearance

Alvaro Santo is a handsome Mestizo man in his early thirties. He's a vibrant and gregarious man, but equally able to change his face and personality to match the desires of the people around him. He's charm personified, but anyone with enough telepathic power will see him for what he is, one of the ugliest and most monstrously evil uber alive. As Beneficiar Alvaro does not have a costume per se, his force field shrouds him in darkness, and has served to protect his identity.

NOTES: After the grayish morality of the People's Uber Squad I decided to do someone totally evil. Poking around with Google translator reveals that Benificiar means both slaughter and benefit. That's an odd linguistic turn that I just had to use. I didn't intend to create a Sylar clone, so I made his power set a little more low key.

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

BELOVED LEADER (North Korea)

http://www.uber-world.com/characterpage.php?cid=961

Beloved Leader (Kim Jung-Il)

Background

From the Top Secret Memories of Beloved Leader:

“I was born in the shadow of Baekdu Mountain as was foretold by a sparrow, and was heralded by a double rainbow over Baekdu Mountain and a new star in the heavens above.”

“Soon after, my father moved the family into the Soviet Union where he learned the true meaning of communism as the leader of a soviet brigade. After the Great Patriotic War the family moved back to North Korea. We lived in a huge mansion with a pool. My brother was fascinated with the pool. Maybe it was my push that helped him study it better, or not. Alas his fascination did him in. Later mother argued with me. She later died in childbirth, or so they said.”

“I studied political science under my father, Kim Il Sung, and at his side my education grew. Father had me even study abroad, even going as far away from my beloved homeland as Malta, where I studied English. I am a good speaker of English.”

“My raise through the ranks of the Korean Workers’ Party, would be considered meteoric. At first I was involved with protecting the party from revisionists after the Sino-Soviet split. Those writers and others who didn’t follow the dictates of father were dealt with. Later I was to be involved in straightening out the wrong thinking in the military. Several revisionist officers were expelled.”

“It was my work with artists and writers that influenced me to get involved. I found the work fascinating, and during those years wrote thousands of books, operas, and plays. All to show the common man the truth about Marx-Leninism.”

"All great things come to those who wait. Father has passed. The state funeral for the great man lasted for days. The people did their utmost to honor Father, and further honor me by proclaiming me their Beloved Leader. They're willing to give everything for me. I truly am their Beloved Leader."

Personality

Kim Jong Il thinks he’s the greatest political mind of the age, and oddly enough the people of North Korea agree with him. There is no plan that Beloved Leader doesn’t believe will be successful, but in the unlikely event something were to go wrong, Beloved Leader has four million scapegoats to pick from.

Beloved Leader like his people is convinced of his own greatest. He knows that he’s the greatest writer in the world, and has written several bestsellers (in North Korea), and even some operas that have been critically acclaimed (again in North Korea).

Kim Jong Il is obsessed with secrecy. He’ll have anyone who divulges state secrets executed, with a few exceptions. Beloved Leader, also is obsessed with his own security, and almost has a sixth sense when it comes to danger to himself. The real sign of his own insecurity is the fact that he rides around in a giant robot.

Quote

“Herro Heroes! It was inevitabre that you wourd farr into my crutches! My devoted scientists terr me that this death trap is inescapabre!”

Powers

Kim Jong Il has no actual powers per se. However, to the North Korea people, he’s almost a god, and they generally treat him as such. Hence the title Beloved Leader. Kim Jong Il wears special khaki’s that acts like body armor, glasses that lets him see through other peoples, usually women clothes, and has a hidden pistol for emergencies.

The one thing that sets Kim Jong Il from other dictators is the Red Flag Vanguard Robot. While the design for the robot are about fifty years out of date, it still is impressive, and has been upgraded with the finest North Korean technology. With the Red Flag Vanguard Robot, the Beloved Leader is assured to make the capitalist, imperialist Americans and their nefarious allies quake in their boots.

Appearance

Kim Jong Il, or Beloved Leader as he’s affectionately known to the people of North Korea, is an odd looking man. He’s short, barely standing over five feet in height, and pudgy, obviously overweight. Beloved Leader is a bespeckled man with a high pompadour, who most would over look, however, Beloved Leader, is probably the most powerful communist leader in the world. His usual dress is in khaki, a windbreaker, trousers, and elevator shoes.

It's been a while, eh?

I've had three months of 'real life' developments including separating from my wife and a complete hard drive meltdown.

Things are looking up and I'm back in the project, although it'll take a week or so to catch up with the pictures I 'owe'.

I've started with Mania. Her entry has been edited, but here she is again. Consider her a type of Harley Quinn.

#126 MANIA (Niger)

mania.jpg

MANIA

Dr Francoise Manie

Character Sheet (Click Here)

Background

Dr Francoise Manie was once a respected, and somewhat unassuming member of the St. Augustine's Reformatory on the outskirts of the old part of Niamey. While the city grew beyond its original city limits, the Reformatory stood apart like a relic from a bygone era. Manie worked with the criminals but was neither enthused by her work or particularly helpful when it came to reforming them. At thirty-seven she had long since lost her jeu d'sprit. However, when an anonymous man was ushered through to her care after a bizarre thunder storm, Manie found herself face to face with the criminally insane Shade.

While he appeared as a nondescript European man, the Shade chose to disclose his true appearance to Manie. He trapped her mind in his nightmarish dimension where she was ruthlessly stripped of her sanity. When he allowed her mind to re-settle in its rightful place Manie was a different woman.

The Shade sent her on her way but kept in mental contact with her as she went about her usual routine. To amuse himself, the Shade chose to command Manie in a variety of ways, slowly at first but gradually building to a cacophany of mayhem. At first she was compelled to mishandle medications which resulted in several inmates falling into violent convulsions. This was followed by surgical murders of her neighbours and finally by releasing the inmates of St Augustine's Reformatory. During the break-out, Manie attempted to flee with the Shade but he simply vanished, leaving her a broken woman.

Manie disappeared that night too, but later surfaced in the capital where she led an attempt to blow up all of Niger's television relay stations. The purpose of such a move was never explained, and although she escaped capture, she continued to turn up across the country and neighbouring countries in an effort to cause destruction.

Later still she took her strange attacks to Europe where she nearly blew up the Eiffel Tower, but was stopped by the Brotherhood. During this attack she declared that she was attempting to contact the Shade, and in retrospect her manic attacks across Niger could also be interpreted as attempts to make contact with the enigmatic master villain.

It is not know whether she has, in fact, made contact with the Shade since becoming the criminal dubbed Mania, but he actions have taken on a more systematic approach since Paris. She has hired mercenaries to assist her with her plots, as well as hiring out her own services to others. However, one constant remains and that is that Mania is certainly not one to be trusted. She is just as likely to kill her own security detail as she is to oppose heroes. The only thing she values apart from being reunited with her 'master', is her own liberty and she will ensure she retains this in any manner possible.

Personality

It is difficult to understand Francoise Manie's motivation. Since being subverted by The Shade she has become increasingly unstable and has shown unpredictability in all areas of her life. She has cast off her career and family and now roams around the globe seeking a reunion with The Shade. Her methods for doing this vary but almost always involve mass destruction and ultimate mayhem.

Quote

"The secret to success is to be unpredictable. And not predictably unpredictable like some madmen. You need to deliver your chaos with a sense of style. Like me."

Powers

Mania is criminally insane and her actions can not be predicted. While she has no uberhuman abilities she has a ruthlessness and abandon which put many villains to shame. She employs a simple but deadly handgun and wears protective goggles. She has also employed mercenaries or thugs to either do her dirty work or at least slow down any opposition.

Perhaps her greatest threat is her ability to create dangerous devices capable of mass destruction. The nature and purpose of these machines varies from one incident to the next but all are the work of a criminal mind.

Appearance

There is something strange about Francoise's eyes: a mania which gives her her name. She was once an average looking woman but since losing her mind she has blossomed into a crazy-beauty. She has cast off inhibitions and low self-esteem, and now runs around the world as Mania. She generally wears her pink bubble-like goggles and has her dreadlocked black hair done up in two piggytails. She changes her costume regularly but has been known to dress in black leathers, tailored business suits and exotic bodysuits.

Notes

Okay, so I hadn't actually posted her here on the Forum Boards. Well, she's here now!

#127 NEXT GEN (Nigeria)

NEXT GEN

Team Sheet (Click Here)

Background

Professor Pan was adamant that the only way to help protect his species and stop the mass extinction being wrought against non-human species across Africa was to enter the human's world and make a lot of money. Only money would grant him power to halt the destruction of forests. After only a short period of brainstorming the best approach, Pan decided to create a super hero team which would protect Africa but at a price.

His sister, Pan, established the international reputation of the corporation as well as its internet presence. Within an hour of launching the team, the government of Nigeria enlisted their help.

While they have proven to be a little rough around the edges, Next Gen have delivered on their contracts again and again (and the extra insurance taken out on members Crash and Thunder has been well and truly worth it).

The team has an unofficial rivalry with the various Africa Forces and Pan believes that this is born of jealousy, whereas those in Africa Force tend to see Pan and his heroes for hire as something of a nuisance at best, and a menace at worst.

Area of Operations

Next Gen is based in Nigeria but operates across Africa and even internationally when the need (and money) arises. Pan has targeted Africa Force accord nations such as Nigeria in a bid to turn them away from requesting Africa Force's help and to see that Next Gen offers much more immediate assistance.

Pan and Pandora have decided against extensive work within the countries that are deemed under the control of the enigmatic Sons of Set such as Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Chad, Niger and Eritrea.

Goals

Pan and Pandora want to earn as much money as they can so they can buy back land which is essential for the continued survival of their species. Pan has turned his attention to other benefits of mass wealth and is slowly building an impressive empire which no longer has the interests of primates at heart (at least not primarily).

The individual members of Next Gen are motivated by the income they receive. All of them, except Huntress, rely on the money to provide for them the life they have quickly become accustomed to. Huntress has joined the team because she can genuinely see the benefit such a team presents to the people of Africa.

Reputation

To the other heroes of Africa (and many of the villains), Next Gen is seen as a band of colourful amateurs, but those who have faced them cannot deny there are some very powerful individuals in the team, and under the direction of Pan they can be quite formidable.

Africa Force has cautioned the accord countries not to employ the Next Gen, but when a disaster strikes and Africa Force cannot respond, the countries have unilaterally turned to Next Gen.

#127 PROFESSOR PAN (Nigeria)

PROFESSOR PAN

Pan

Character Sheet (Click Here)

Background

When Infinite Man first battled the New Men in Africa, he generated a mutagenic plague which was intended to destroy Dr Saul Numen, and while the attack failed, the plague was not entirely cleaned up in the aftermath. A family of chimpanzees contracted the mutagenic disease and suffered terribly. When Balthasar Numen discovered that the plague had shifted to the primates he alerted his family who quickly swung into action and created an antidote. However, many of the chimpanzees had perished. Those who remained were taken to the capital Abuja where Saul Numen hastily set up a clinic to treat them.

Twelve months later and only two chimpanzees remained alive: Pan and Pandora. A side effect of the mutagen was that both chimpanzees developed higher functioning brains and long after Dr Saul Numen turned his attention away from these creatures they decided to take matters into their own highly dextrous hands.

They realised that humans would never be able to save the chimpanzees' dwindling population because they were so easily distracted. Pan and Pandora realised it would fall to them to take the salvation of their species on to the world stage. They began to track the activities of Dr Numen and realised that he had great respect across the globe as well as great wealth. Added to these were his uber powers and close-knit super family. Pan decided to emulate Numen, but to use the influence such things brought in a way which benefited the primate world.

He discharged himself from the clinic and together with Pandora set out to visit Gorilla City which had always been a kind of myth. He was greeted cordially by the cautious King and spent many months in the vast libraries and halls of knowledge. During his stay he met again with an older Balthasar Numen who was in the City to work with a British spy, Agent Ape. Balthasar remembered Pan and spent some time with him. The boy was friendly, but didn't seem to grasp the enormity of the chimps' situation. He was too brash, too comforted by the wealth and power of his family.

Pan and Pandora left Gorilla City with enough knowledge to establish their own 'New Men', although with obvious differences. They returned to Nigeria where they ventured into the dwindling forests. Pan called together a modest number of chimpanzees and spent hours talking to them about the coming dawn.

None of the chimpanzees seemed particularly worried about their lot in life, and in fact, many of them showed fear when faced with Pan's unusual behaviour.

It was Pandora who drew Pan back to the city. She counselled him that the way to salvation lay in the humans' world. If they were serious about saving their species they would have to engage in human affairs. She liked his idea of forming a super hero team, but suggested he employ humans. Pan was initially disgusted, but then saw the benefits. Humans were, after all, easier to manipulate than other primates. They were drawn to the power of money and luxury and fame.

So Pan began to scour the countryside of Nigeria for likely candidates, and while the country had a very large population he only found a handful of uberhumans, and of that group he could only persuade two to join his team. Nonetheless, he and Pandora trained them in the use of their powers and covertly set up their organisation. They were very cautious about releasing information too early.

With the advent of Africa Force, Pan thought that their plans would have been thwarted, but once again Pandora counselled him. Africa Force was an international peace keeping force, dedicated to helping mankind with no thought of financial reward. Their team, however, would service those people or organisations which had the finances to pay for their help. And she said that there would always be those who had more money than sense.

Again, Pan agreed.

In 2005, Pan addressed the people of Nigeria via a television broadcast. he had already become a public figure through his strategic 'humanitarian work' at the local hospitals and clinics, and now he used that image to propel his super hero team onto the international stage. He unveiled the 'Next Gen' super heroes while Pandora simultaneously launched their organisation on the internet and across the world with offices in London, New York and Johannesburg.

The Next Gen were immediately hired by the government of Nigeria to assist with security around their oil production: something which Pan had predicted months earlier. The team swept into action and quickly eradicated the loosely organised groups of saboteurs. They were then swamped with work from small scale rescues of family members who had gone missing in London and Abuja, to security work protecting valuable museum exhibits in Spain.

As the work increased, the money continued to flow in, and Pandora even began to branch out into sponsorship deals. Soon Next Gen was a household name across most of the world, and their bank accounts were overflowing. Pan had set up the membership of the team with clear employment contracts, so while the company earned a lot of money, individual members only saw a fraction of the plunder. Still, they didn't seem to mind.

Personality

Pan has big dreams but has to deal with humans in order to see any of them come to fruition, and that really frustrates him. He was initially hopeful of employing young chimpanzees in his quest to secure a better future for his species, but soon realised they lacked the world perspective or power to assist him, so he regretfully turned to humans. Apart from momentarily bouts of blatant prejudice against humans, Pan is a friendly and intelligence being. He enjoys conversation and fine wine, and is fast becoming a world celebrity.

He and Pandora have been through some very trying times together, including the eradication of their family. The siblings have a very close relationship which will never be broken, especially by the humans. Sometimes Pan believes that he would never have come so far without Pandora, and he is right. Despite their best efforts, they have yet to have children. The disease which swept through their family has made them infertile. As the years progress and the Next Gen company makes more and more money, Pan is looking into ways that he can reverse this condition and produce a worthy heir for his nascent empire.

Quote

"I always say, if you can't get a good chimpanzee to help you out, there are always the humans."

Powers

Since being exposed to the mutagenic plague released by the mad man Infinity, Pan and his sister Pandora have developed incredibly astute brains, putting them at a genius level intellect. They are shrewd business-primates as well as imaginative problem solvers, and they use these abilities to fine tune their super hero team as well as their growing international organisation.

Appearance

Pan is a chimpanzee standing at a little under one metre, but looks taller when he dresses in human clothing. While he prefers his natural appearance, he does realise that humans prefer to do business with clothed beings, so both he and Pandora have long since adopted the habit of wearing tailored clothing. When he joins the Next Gen team as Professor Pan he wears an armoured costume which has a dark green band across the top covering his shoulders and upper chest, with a white band covering the rest of his torso, and dark green trunks and pants.

Notes

I did have a picture for Pan somewhere. It was pencilled but not inked. I'm sure it's around somewhere and as soon as I find it I'll get it coloured and on the web.
