Captain Carrot IS supposed to be satire and self-parody of the comic book industry. While I might mind stuff like this elsewhere, the point here is that stuff like this in Captain Carrot, distressingly enough, is where it belongs. Information from Newsarma DC Comics announced today that long-time Simpsons Comics writer and artist Bill Morrison will write CAPTAIN CARROT AND THE FINAL ARC, to be published in the fall of 2007. The three-issue series will be drawn by Scott Shaw, the original artist and co-creator of CAPTAIN CARROT. The announcement was made at the New York Comic Con. Captain Carrot is reunited with his Zoo Crew after a long hiatus, but things are looking pretty grim for our heroes. When The Salamandroid causes a disturbance at the Sandy Eggo Comic-Con, it is up to the Zoo Crew to come to the rescue. "This is a very important year for Captain Carrot," said Dan DiDio, Senior Vice President and Executive Editor of the DC Universe. "We are hopeful that this mini-series helps fully establish the Captain as one of the true heroes in the DC Comics pantheon." Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew are a team of anthropomorphic animals who gained their powers when Superman accidentally sent a meteor hurtling into their planet. Captain Carrot appeared in his own series published by DC Comics in the early 80s. The series has been fondly remembered by many comic fans as a successful, humorous parody of superhero comics. About the Author: Morrison was recruited to draw The Simpsons in the early 1990s and later co-founded Bongo Comics with Simpsons creator Matt Groening in 1993, where he served as the principal writer and artist on many of their most popular titles. Morrison and his own creation, Roswell, Little Green Man, were nominated for an Eisner Award for "Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition" in 1998. Morrison also served as the artistic director for the hit animated series, Futurama. About the Artist: Scott Shaw got his feet wet in comics by contributing to various underground publications throughout the 1970s. Shaw soon moved on to draw the original CAPTAIN CARROT series (which he co-created). Shaw has done work as an animator on dozens of cartoons, including Krypto the Superdog, The Smurfs, and Jim Henson's Muppet Babies, where he earned four Emmy Awards.
