[review] Cheat Sheet

I am trying to get a couple players into Hero games, there complaint so far is that it is to complicated, with it's own jargon. to that end I have assembled a cheat sheet to help them. What I am looking for is some fresh eyes to say this is good, this is bad, this should be here, etc...

Re: [review] Cheat Sheet

Very good. One thing someone on RPG.net pointed out was that HERO always rolls low to determine success (To-Hit, Skill, Perception, etc.) and always rolls high to determine result (damage, Presence dice, Mind Control, etc.). That's totally consistent.

The only other thing I see is that you might want to skil the OCV - 3d6 = highest DCV thing and just copy off the To-Hit table. It's one more sheet but it's easy.

Re: [review] Cheat Sheet

My suggestion would be the change the combat rolls to show the following formula (which has seemed to be more intuitive):

11+OCV - 3d6 = DCV hit (oh, unless of course, your "modified OCV is 11+OCV, oops)

Other than that, looks pretty good!

Re: [review] Cheat Sheet

Try this to see if it isn't a little easier to read.

It assumes two things have happened on the Character Sheet:

the Modified OCV has been figured out already (11+OCV+Skill Levels) and written down somewhere.

That PD+rPD (or ED+rED) has been combined such as: 12PD/6rPD where their normal PD is 6 and they have 6rPD, thus they have 12PD against Normal Damage and 6PD against Killing Damage. (when you read Defenses you'll see why).

I removed mention of being killed as that is not a common enough occurance to really need mention on a Quick Reference, in my opinion at least.

edit: update 1 to the PDF.

Re: [review] Cheat Sheet

well now that you mention it

I do think that a comment about the effects of 0 body is important enough to include

Something like "When you are below 0 body you begin to loose 1 body per turn, you die when you reach negative value of your body." While true death is rare in my games, someone starts loosing body every 3-4 games

on the formula for modified OCV, include modifiers in the equation so

Modified OCV +bonus -negatives -3d6 = DCV hit. Skill levels and manuever bonuses are not part of the modified ocv as they change in game

but those are nit picks
