Re: WWYCD: Felononius Feline

Frosty Bob- definitely goes after the hot cat burglar. ("Wait up baby" ) "Uhh, the loot, what loot" ;)

Badger- Goes after the burglar, no question. Looks, doesnt make a difference. Not that he, err, wouldnt look. But, he doesnt let such things get in the way of the task at hand much. Dont see him veering off unless to save a life. Bob too actually. (I mean really I seem to go for characters who have little concept of collateral damage.)

Re: WWYCD: Felononius Feline

So your character has stumbled across a cat burglar doing what cat burglars do. Having a sense of self-preservation, said burglar tosses the loot and runs, showing very little inclination for a fight. If you don't catch the loot, it's going to hit the ground 8 stories below, most of it's value lost in the process. If you don't catch the burglar, the burglar will probably get away (omniscient characters who can not be eluded need not apply). What does your character care more about?

Oh...and does it make a difference if your character finds the thief to be very hot?

Aquatic- Aquatic has something of a running gag of trying to help damsels or ladies in trouble out of a bleeding heart that would make Hawkeye Pierce look jaded. Asking the lady to please see reason, offering to help if she were forced into this life, hard to say which he'd go after while he was giving the speech.

Comet- Comet would think he could get both, whether he could or not isn't the point.

Gaze-Mind controls the thief to save the loot. Voila. Twobirds-one stone :)

Mole- Mole would use his N Ray Spatial Awareness to make sure the loot was actually in the bag or if he was just being played by a decoy. If the loot was real, he'd go after it.

I wonder if, for those who chose to go after the burglar because loot could be replaced, they'd change their mind if they knew that the loot consisted of Faberge Eggs, or something similarly priceless and irreplaceable (IE, their destruction would be the loss of a piece of culture and history, not just valuables).

Tao and Shidoku would still go after the crook. Tao because she places no value on trivial things (and something valued just because its its beautiful would fall under her definition of trivial). Shidoku because risking her life (and she would be since she's basically a really good martial artist diving after something chucked out of a high rise window) over someone elses' stuff, no matter of nice it might be just because its valuble and pretty isn't her thing. If it were something of material importance they'd change their minds but the definition of what would qualify

Re: WWYCD: Felononius Feline

In all the cases, my folks would go after the loot first. Not so much that Things Matter, but who knows what it could land on, if it'll kill someone and so on. That said, I think that everyone has a good chance of stopping both.

Scarlet Arrow shoots the bag with her (assuming she gets the right arrow out) suction cup arrow, a 50-ish TK. Round two, she launches one of her entangle arrows at the fleeing cat burgler (the area effect one, if she's lost sight of him).

Great Beyond can fly - pretty fast, too - so getting the falling loot and giving chase in pretty short order should be easy.

Natasha cant fly and would probably do more damage if she jumped after it, so she'll cheat. She'll chase down the criminal and bag him/her/it, get to her flying time traveliing car and jump back the 60 seconds or so that she was busy and catch the loot mid-air.

In all cases, the hawtness of the crook wont matter. Scarlet is clueless about that sort of thing, GB is too much of a 'Lone Ranger' boy scout to be desuaded, and Natasha just doesnt care.

Would it make a differece to people if they believe the loot might be toxic or explosive and it's dangerous if it hits the street?

How about one of the few remaining members of an endangered species?

An accidently created fluid that may cure [disease of choice] if it can be analized and duplicated?

Re: WWYCD: Felononius Feline

You would have to add a lot of detail to the opening story to make any of those possibilities seem likely. The scenario that best fits the description Clonus gave is that the burglar is going after personal belongings in a high-rise apartment. None of those are likely to be found in someone's dwelling place. Moreover, if you're discovering and interrupting the burglar in the act, most characters will have no way to determine that the contents of the loot bag are something more important than simple valuables -- which are, generally, what cat burglars are typically after. It's a lot harder to quickly dispose of an explosive, dangerous, or controlled substance/object than it is to dispose of jewelry.

That said, if you change the parameters so that the PC knows that the contents of the bag are a bigger concern than the burglar is, then of course that changes things.

Re: WWYCD: Felononius Feline

Although actually I was more interested in how many people would simply reject the idea that someone could ever get away from their character in the first place.

Likely because you didn't mention the cat burglar as having any extraordinarly fast movement modes, which might make it a bit difficult to get away from characters that do.

Isn't that kinda implied by the opening post, saying 'the cat burglar will get away if not pursued immediately'? That they'll have some means of getting away from characters with high movement speeds? (For instance, hiding!)
