Corven_Ren
I am thinking of running my first fantasy hero game ever. For most of the standard fantasy (dwarves, elves etc) races I plan on using Killer Shrike's wonderful packages. But I have a couple custom races and one race from the old AD&D Red Steel campaign that I use. I was wondering if my fellow herophiles would help me convert them from AD&D terms into Hero. I will post the info on my custom races later as far as the Red Steel race has anyone ever converted the lupins featured there.
Killer Shrike
Re: Help converting races. If you put up the particulars Ill help. I also have a (less detailed) ADD conversion on my site that might help.
Corven_Ren
Re: Help converting races. I dont have my red steel books handy but what I can remember... AD&D stats go lupins got +2 Str, +2 Con, -2 Wis and -2 Chr. They could track by smell and had keen ears/sense of smell. Identify werewolves in any form and had infravision and lived about 250- 300 years. As far as negatives they were alerigic to wolfsbane and more vulnerable to hearing/smell based attacks. Sweeper
Re: Help converting races. The only thing I have left of my Red Steel campaign setting is the music CD that came with it. IIRC, the Inheritors where stylized after Spanish Dons circa Renaissance Spain to Pre-Revolt Mexico and California. The Cinbril, (Is that how it was spelled?), gave users special powers with a price. The cinbril eventually permuted into Red Steel and the users would mutate into horrible creatures. The users need to obtain more cinbril to stave of the Red Curse(?) Dwarves have black-powder weapons, the Wheel-lock being the most common one. So, the cynibril would endow the user with abilities that could be emulated in just about any power in FRed that would be aprocriate to the setting from RKAs to shields, to regen. the Dependecy disadvantage would be a must. As to how often I'm not sure. The cinibril would be a focus of the powers, could be stolen, and have a dibilitating effect on the using PC. That's pretty much all I remember, I know I'm missing a lot. Hope it helps.

Captain Obvious
Re: Help converting races. http://www.pandius.com/svge_cst.html The Savage Coast/Red Steel setting was pretty interesting, and had some crunchy bits that added a lot to a D&D type setting (although most of them are built-in to a Hero game). As for Lupins: +2 Str --> +2 STR +2 Con --> +2 CON -2 Wis --> -2 EGO -2 Chr --> -2 PRE track by smell --> Enhanced Senses, Tracking Scent keen ears/sense of smell --> Enhanced Senses, +2 PER hearing and smell groups Identify werewolves in any form --> Enhanced Senses, Sense Werewolves infravision --> Enhanced Senses, Infravision lived about 250- 300 years --> Life Support, reduced aging allergic to wolfsbane --> Susceptibility more vulnerable to hearing/smell based attacks --> Vulnerability: Hearing/Smell based attacks Just need to decide how big the susceptibility and vulnerability are. Killer Shrike
Re: Help converting races. http://www.pandius.com/svge_cst.html Thanks for the link. Based on the write up under "Races" in that resource, here's my take on Lupin: Lupin A HERO Designer template (which is my preferred method of doing races) and a Package deal are provided on the page as well. I've also linked it up on the Humanoid Packages Page.
