MorpheousXO
Re: Problem with force field Or the clothing becomes strategically abraded. (That is' date=' the CCA-specified bits stay covered, but the hems get ripped and maybe a sleeve will come off.)[/quote'] Now that's just down right unamerican! vincemcd
Re: Problem with force field Although the OP mentioned this about Force Field, the same would apply to Armor as well. Of course, Armor tends to fall into one of three categories: 1) Externally-worn, in which case it essentially *is* clothing and thus generally protects itself. 2) Some obvious natural feature (Hulk's greenness, Thing's ... thingitude, etc.) which often obscures any naughty bits in its own right. 3) "Supernaturally dense flesh", usually roughly indistinguishable from normal human skin. I see (and use) this most often with godlike/angelic/demonic types; She-Hulk's greenness I'd categorize here (I've never seen Shulkie topless except in fanart, after all). Obviously, only #3 is relevant to the original point. I play primarily with adults, in which the games run from PG-13 through X. Sex crops up regularly, whether in the background or the foreground. Amusingly enough, me and my fellow players aren't all that keen on the "gore" side of adult-rated gaming.

Silbeg
Re: Problem with force field well, this is the argument that I have heard that Superman has a Force Field as his primary defense, since his costume rarely seems to get shredded (at least it didn't in the "long, long ago" when I read the comic. But, I would definitely agree that FF will protect clothing. Of course, if you are concerned, you could always but the +5(?) Adder - protects carried objects... The pre-Crisis/Byrne Superman's costume and lenses to the glasses worn as Clark Kent made out of Kryptonian material that was just as 'invulnerable' as he was (he could use his Heat-vision while in secret ID). Post-Crisis, John Byrne got rid of most of the Kryptonian material invulnerability and replaced it with Superman having a skin-contact Force Field that protected his costume under most circumstances. Post-Crisis' date=' John Byrne got rid of most of the Kryptonian material invulnerability and replaced it with Superman having a skin-contact Force Field that protected his costume under most circumstances.[/quote'] Can't speak for pre-crisis. However, as I understood it, that the explanation of his powers being based on a solar "END Reserve" (to put things into HERO terms), and the general state of depletion caused by the events leading up to the "Death of Superman", was the reason that he was able to be so dramatically damaged. During that story line we did see Supe's costume get shredded, etc. To get back on topic , this should also carry through to characters with standard Force Fields in HERO. If a character has her Force Field up, then her costume, etc., should not get damaged by an attack, unless the attack causes more BODY than the Force Field can protect. The way I see it, a Force Field covers the person, and his clothes, but not necessarily things that the person is carrying (I would probably rule that Accessable foci are also outside of the FF). It is malleable, so does not prevent things like Nerve Strike type NNDs from causing damage, and it is also permeable, so gasses can pass through (like oxygen), unless there is linked (or otherwise) Life Support: Self Contained Breathing (or the like) as well. OF course, it is probably a Good Thing that a Force Field is permeable, else who would be able to use it for more than a few seconds? AnotherSkip
Re: Problem with force field Actually I have a comic that explains the Purple pants physics, it has the grey hulk in it and a pretty funny clothes salesman.... How about a Force field with Side effects (allways occurs, character cannot breathe, -1)? And i did it the Hero Way!!! One player wanted a power that protected the character from seeing X-rated materials, we came up with a modified Flash Defense....

I have that one, too. "They're ... purple." "Yes, but very stretchy at the waist ... not so much at the knees, though."
