There were so many mysteries surrounding those creatures, their human allies, and their planet, that could fill a feature film. OTOH the same could be said for a Space Ghost feature film, which would also rock on toast. In regards to Space Ghost, there was an interesting (And wonderful art) mini-series of comics by DC a number of years ago, darker than the cartoon, but well done and answers a lot of those kind of questions...
