Nyrath
Re: Gamma Ray Burst Detected 12.2 billion light years away? That's pretty much on the far side of the universe, the maximum distance possible is something around 13.7 billion light years. It also happened 12.2 billion years ago, when the universe was just an infant at about one-tenth its current age.
Cancer
Re: Gamma Ray Burst Detected Annoying that there's no date in that press item, but I did find a press release which had it, at SLAC. Happened back in September. I haven't got to the publication yet through the subscriber wall to read more of the poop.

NuSoardGraphite
Re: Gamma Ray Burst Detected 9000 times the force of a Supernova Add that to "cool stuff found in space" along with the Giant Ball of Fire, Stars with rings and Pulsar as a sattelite. Space rocks. Nothing can top that Great Ball of Fire though. Nothing short of a permanent rip in space and time that we can use to travel to the other side of the universe.
