Arrival on the AE-Galactica

After your most recent misadventure, probably involving a very big explosion, your PC finds himself suddenly on the public viewing deck of a very large ship, with a fleet of other ships visible outside the viewing port.

Eventually, by one means or another, your PC finds out that he is in an alternate universe. One very much like his own home dimension. . . at least up to five years ago. Around that time, some form of cataclysm ( appropriate for your setting ) occurred. It was impossible to stop before it destroyed the planet ( or else stopping it necessitated the destruction of the planet ). However, through the effort of the worlds superheroes ( and perhaps others ), as much of the Earth's population as survived was evacuated from the planet, and ultimately loaded aboard a somewhat ragtag fleet of interstellar space ships. All told, there are about five million remaining human beings aboard the fleet, as it travels searching for a suitable new home.

1. What is the nature of the cataclysm, for your home setting?

2. What is your counterpart doing, if he/she/it is around?

3. What does your character do, now that he has found himself on the flagship of the fleet?

Re: Arrival on the AE-Galactica

1. Attack by Temporal Misusing Xenophobic Dark Matter Aliens, the planet was probably sacrificed to save all the multiverse timestreams.

2. Probably leading an attack to wipe out yet another batch of these INSANE M****r F******'s. Or else to get back/revivify the other 6 billion humans (no man left behind....) if that is done.

3. Make Certain the rag tag fleet (remnants of the six alien invasions plus human/superhero mods, formerly stored in Counter earth so that makes sense) knows what it is doing and can properly defend itself without taking each other out.

Re: Arrival on the AE-Galactica

1. Either a global nuclear war, attack by an elder spirit/cosmic horror in the cthulu style.... or one causing the other, either way.

2. If she survived, the Economaster would have to deal with the repercussions in the deep spirit world, regardless of her opinion on the matter. She would probably be called to the spirit plane as soon as the world economy collapsed.

3. The new world needs a new economy... it might not be glamorous, but the remnants of humanity will need to develop a system of trade amongst themselves that will ensure their survival. Who knows what other species out there will also need to be bartered with. A fresh economic slate leads to untold prosperity possibilities...

1) Well, it is possible his father's alien species decided to finally attack. Though they are more known to be feudal and mercenaries for hire (from limited interaction of others of the species), so it would more likely be a more organized and advanced alien species. But, attack from space seems most likely.

2) Wouldnt be here, would be off going all insurgent on the alien empire.

3) Find a way to get some space from so many people. He lived in a cave outside the city for a reason. Being trapped in a ship with millions of people. That is how he imagines hell to be. Probably volunteers to go back and fight the aliens or whatever. But, he needs his personal space to maintain sanity.

Frosty Bob-

1) Who knows something wierd.

2) If it is some kind of thing that can be fought, then fight.

3) They brought beer right? Please tell me they brought beer.

1) Her Great Uncle the Emperor (Usurper to the throne) of a nearby and powerful space empire, finally found that she (The rightful Heir) was on the planet and Planet bombed Earth to take care of her once and for all.

2) Her counterpart, contacted the Space fleet and told them who she was. Thereby splitting the fleet into loyalist and rebel factions (which side is which depends on who you ask). Her counterpart had enough evidence including her mother's robotic bodyguard/companion (robotic teddy bear) and Family implants/nanotech culture (which won't grow in people except the royal family), also a Data dump from her mother's implants detailing her Great Uncle's attempt(s) on her mother. The idea would be to depose her Great Uncle and relocate the remnants of Earth's population on a nice world in the empire (Hopefully close to the capital). Or to possibly terraform either Venus or Mars for the people of Earth to live as full citizens of the Empire.

3) She introduces herself as cross dimensional double to the leader of the fleet. Puts up with the battery of tests that would entail. Then offer her help. Since she's tough, fast and can create long distance (10s of LY) wormholes she could be quite useful. The wormholes could be used for surveillance purposes across light years of distance as well as for communications to possible allies. She could also see if she could find their mother (who is the true heir, but disappeared in the 90's). She can also act as Liason between the Loyalist and Earth ships, having a good rep and good relations with the US government

Re: Arrival on the AE-Galactica

Firstly, if my wife was involved in any way with this campaign, my mind boggles at the supernova-strength Smut Field that would erupt at the slightest possibility of running into Starbuck

But anyway... a reality where humanity is on the verge of extinction? All of Vitus's Christmases have come at once!

But not really. Indeed, he'd probably be howling with frustration, since his moral obligation ( and despite the many, many bad impressions he's made on people, Vitus does have a highly developed if 'idiosyncratic' system of morals ) would be somewhere assisting in the salvation of the bastard species in question.

"Wonderful... just fracking wonderful. It's not like I already have 5 other cultures depending on me for resurrection
"

Hopefully protecting this one won't take long, and he can get back to saving the civilisation he actually cares about.

At least Vitus probably wasn't involved in the destruction of Earth - five years ago wasn't recent enough for any of his Reasons To Blow Up The Planet, or plans to break it down for spare parts, to be anything more than happy daydreams.

Mechanon's alliance with the Fury would be a possibility. Indeed, that combination of biophobia and the Fury's scheme to exploit Mechanon as part of it's long term goal to establish human hegemony forever at any cost would lend itself to plot arcs of intricate and subtle complexity.

On the ship? Vitus would be useful, I suppose - although the question of where he loyalties actually lie would be an ongoing question. Contrary to the assumptions of many, including the Fury, Vitus' primary concern is NOT self-preservation.

Red Mountain

1. Not a bloody clue. Not that Red's dumb mind you, he just don't worry about much more than surfing and punching who his teammates point him at. Most likely aliens or somesuch. Damn.

2. Dead. Red doesn't do too well away from the Earth Mother. Cut off from his power source he would slowly grow weak and die...unless they can find another Earthlike world and his new spirit journey allowed him to reattune to this new world.

3. Dying. Same problem as above. For all the Volcanic powers at his dispossal, space just isn't his thing for long. He'd have to find a way home to his version of reality or start planet hunting, a.s.a.p.

Brand X

1. The nanocaust has happened. Not quite Grey Goo, but damn close. Precious little is left that humans can live on.

2. Organizing a support system for survivors. Fighting off alien profiteers trying to make a buck on humanities pain and misfortune. He's tough and smart and can put his people skills to some use.

3. "I don't belong here." Having doubles in the same world for long is bad. Messes with the balance of the universe or something. He's be striving HARD to find his way hom asap. If he can't he'll do much the same as his double. Organzing people, helping survivors.
