A drumhead trial was the name for an archaic form of court martial practiced on Earth in the 19th century. Its name derives from the eponymous usage of a drum's head as a seat for the presiding judge in an ad-hoc military tribunal. Such trials were marked by an emphasis on expediency and a notable lack of due process and impartiality. Often, the actual "trial" was a mere formality, with the verdict known well in advance. They were sometimes used to curb similar behavior in other potential offenders. Trials akin to the drumhead-type were conducted in later eras and by different cultures.

I've never noticed any difference with opening a bag of chips up side down, but it makes sense: that's where the seasoning stratifies. The only context I have heard of that being a choice is school yard cool kid stuff. Wear your hat backwards, why not open the Doritos upside down too? Because you know the kid that had the Cool Ranch from the variety pack was the leader. Some kids would show up with sandwich baggies of chips from the Family Size bag at home and it was budget AF.

The next thing that happened was puncturing your Capri Sun pouch from the bottom. That may not have caught on as much, and might of just been my friends. When we discovered that inserting the straw was like a violent stabbing type act we just enjoyed the tactile experience more. With a little more resistance, the haptics are a lot more rewarding (it also emulates the resistance of something being stabbed more than the intended circle).

One kid started stabbing his Capri Sun pouches in the middle of the front label and drank it sideways. We were some innovators. That approach wasn't adopted by anyone else. I think I tried it once to see how stabby it was and discovered the bottom is better for that. His way just made a clever sticky mess.
