BoloOfEarth
I'm updating Countdown, demolitions expert from the 4th Edition Destruction Company. He has a bomb thrower (basically a souped-up grenade launcher) but I wanted to add a few things to his writeup. The first, already done, is a set of multi-trigger bombs (AP RKA) he can place and are then triggered either by remote, timer, motion, etc. They come out to 124 Active Points. I wanted to add some semi-fake bombs he can set to hopefully distract the heroes from more profitable pursuits (like defusing his real bombs, or more importantly stomping on Countdown and his pals). Toward this end, I thought a Flash and/or Darkness effect might replace the AP RKA (but keep other Advantages like Triggers, etc.) My problem: How to write up the "disguise" part so the bomb squad or hero thinks it's an RKA and not something more benign? I thought maybe an Images with a fair PER penalty (actually a penalty on the observer's Demolitions skill) is the way to go here, but am not sure. Also, if Images *is* the way to go, do I need to buy that Images for each type of fake bomb (flash, smoke) and Link each to its effect, or can I just buy it once and use it like a multiple-power attack with whichever fake-bomb effect I use in a particular instance? Would I be too evil using it with the AP RKA to convince the heroes that those bombs are just flash or smoke? When I get home, I'll check Ultimate Skill to see if it addresses how someone can figure out the actual effect of a bomb being defused (at least, prior to said device getting triggered). If it's not in the US book, though, I'm open to suggestions for a penalty to a Demolitions or KS: Explosives skill for figuring out a bomb's intended effect. Marcus Impudite
Re: I Spent the Last 5 Minutes Defusing WHAT?! Ah, The Destruction Company from High Tech Enemies, one of favorites. Are you using 5th Ed or 6e?

Ah' date=' The Destruction Company from High Tech Enemies, one of favorites. Are you using 5th Ed or 6e?[/quote'] Still using 5th Edition rules. Yeah, they're one of my favorites too, but I over-used them in past campaigns so I haven't used them in my current one.
HawksmoorSD
Re: I Spent the Last 5 Minutes Defusing WHAT?! Honestly I'd write them up with some sort of limitation of "Can be disarmed" and call it that. They're still bombs and they would be made to look alike so the pc's shouldn't know which is which. Ockham's Spoon
Re: I Spent the Last 5 Minutes Defusing WHAT?! A bomb is a bomb. One kills, the other blinds, but they all look pretty much the same on the outside. If you want to give the PCs a chance to figure out which is which, do a PER vs. Concealment roll or something similar and save yourself the headache of all that extra power write-up.
