Njiall
I am preparing a game in the 30's. What do you recommend me for the mood music? It's a Mistery Men style game.
tkdguy
Re: Mistery Men music Max Raabe & Palast Orchester perform music from the 20s and 30s, mostly in German, but also in English and other languages. Edit: Here's a review and a video clip.
Pizza Man
Re: Mistery Men music Mood music. Hmmm. The soundtrack to Indiana Jones couldn't hurt at all.
Nothere
Re: Mistery Men music From the too little information files. I thought 30's mood music for a 30['s game might work, so I looked up some of the era's top songs. I got a list of titles. So here's a short list based on the titles. The actual songs not haveing been heard, might be completely wrong. Little white lies Your driving me crazy Chant of the Jungle River stay away from my door The last round up Stormy weather I cover the waterfront and You are my lucky Star. If nothing else you can throw ing the titles for a bit of authenticity.
Barwickian
Re: Mistery Men music I tried getting some period music for my pulp game - 30s big band jazz, mainly. Tried it out on one of the players outside the game and he begged me not to use it in game - said all he could picture when he heard it was Tom & Jerry. Pizza Man
Re: Mistery Men music Not everyone can stand to listen to Big Band and Jazz for 4-6 hours. The Players are here for adventure! Adventure music can set the mood far better. Sound tracks, movie themes, this is what you want to inspire heroic deeds.

Sound tracks' date=' movie themes, this is what you want to inspire heroic deeds.[/quote'] Any recommendations? I have very few soundtracks in my collection: Gladiator, LOTR trilogy, reimagined BSG, Conan the Barbarian and Blade Runner (the latter on vinyl) are all that sprin to mind. I have heard good things about the Predator soundtrack, but whether it's suitable for pulp, I'm not sure. Indiana Jones occurs - I figure it'd give players a lift if they heard that riff as they do something cool.
SamuraiSpirit
Re: Mistery Men music some Thievery Corporation might serve you well... I personally find "The Richest Man in Babylon" and "Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi" to be chock full of good background musick.

tkdguy
Re: Mistery Men music You don't have to play music the whole time. You can get more milage by playing it only when they're listening to a performance or to set the mood, such as during combat.
