AlexShinjo
I am playing 5th edition hero still and I am rather stumped on how to build a power. I want my character to have a force field the size of a shield but when it is hit by a hth attack it causes the attacker to go flying back. Any ideas? Thank you

Escafarc
Re: Force Field Power Question And for the second part check-out the Damage Shield Advantage.
AlexShinjo
Re: Force Field Power Question Thank you. I had been looking at force field instead.
CptPatriot
Re: Force Field Power Question Yeah, the main issue is how to apply the knockback to the HTH attacker. You need an attack power that does knockback, but I think the attack power itself does not need to to do damage.

I want my character to have a force field the size of a shield but when it is hit by a hth attack it causes the attacker to go flying back. Any ideas? Thank you There is an article in Issue #10 of Digital Hero that was entitled Forced Fields Enhanced which had an option for a field that had "rebound effect".It was designed by applying the "Does Knockback" advantage to it (the field) and deciding that for each 5 pts worth of defense in the field (rounding down), you get 1d6 worth of potential knockback. The example used in the article is a 10/10 field gives 4d6 worth of potential knockback, etc. That method could also be applied to Force Walls, should you choose to use that power rather than Force Field. It is, IMNSHO, a worthwhile article and with the article in the same issue about the "future warrior concepts" for US military, was worth the purchase price. -Carl-
Kraven Kor
Re: Force Field Power Question I'd do the Force Wall linked to an Energy Blast, No Range, with Damage Shield that Does No Body and/or Does No Stun, and maybe x2 Knockback (unless you also want the rebound effect to damage.) You can toy around with the strength of the EB and whether or not to use x2 KB or whatever.
RexMundi
Re: Force Field Power Question Or just apply Entangles Backlash Advantage to the Force Wall. ~Rex
Dr Divago
Re: Force Field Power Question as for shield, someone already adviced to use force wall. also, you can multipower that with a missile deflection/reflection if you like the idea as for the "rebouncing" effect, you could: - build a power that does knockback; you can do it with an EB with "no damage, only to calculate KB" and x2 KB (and also Does Knockback if you campaign does'nt support it). Other ways exists, like a telekinesys "only to throw away from me" or like - limit it to "up to incoming attack active points" or "up to incoming attack damage" or like - trigger it to auto start whenever someone hit the shield
