  1. February's first pic -- a updated version of Edison and Dr. Carter: Major Tom 2009
  2. A few of those who help out around Mechanus' base of operations: Silicon Avatars These cybernetic/android servitors -- designed and created by Mechanus, the machine Lord of Order -- exist in two basic types. The General Service model, by far the most numerous of the two types, are the most humanoid-appearing, as they were design- ed with both male and female forms. While both 'male' and 'female' GS units are capable of performing any task that may be required of them, in the countless centuries since their existence certain tasks have become the sole province of one type or another; 'male' GS units, for example, tend to handle jobs such as carrying out repairs to the various mechanisms that can be found within Mechanus' base. They also provide assistance and 'heavy lifting' as needed whenever Mechanus has a project that cannot be carried out by a single person. 'Female' GS units, on the other hand, handle other tasks such as data collection, intelligence analysis, and ensuring that Mechanus has sufficient raw materials and other supplies to work with. Both GS types are also capable of socially interacting with sentient organics as well; to this end, the internal database of every GS unit has been programmed with the cultural, historical, and linguistic data of every civilization in the known universe -- not to mention some that exist elsewhere in the Multiverse. The other type of Silicon Avatar is what is known as the Security Unit, of which only 500 are known to exist (that is, known by those few heroes that have had the opportunity to be allowed to visit Mechanus' base); standing over 7' tall, these units are stationed at various sensitive locations within the base -- automated fabrication facilities, research laboratories, defense sys- tem strongpoints, etc. -- and have instructions to use lethal force if necessary to protect the base and its occupants. No more than twenty SUs are active at any given moment; the remainder are kept in a 'ready-alert' state, and can be rapidly brought on-line in the event of a major emergency (an attack on the base, for example). 3. Another reimagining of an Arc character: Mechanus, Lord of Order Major Tom 2009
  4. Magnus Azurion, Lord of Order Major Tom 2009 ?
  5. A 'techno-arsonist' adversary of the Tech Squad: Madame Inferno Major Tom 2009
  6. A villain in the service of DEMON: Black Mano Major Tom 2009
  7. Another reimagining of an Arc character: Septimus of the Seven Eyes, Lord of Chaos Major Tom 2009
  8. And here's the last one for today, a new version of one of The Arc's characters: The Faceless One, Lord of Order Major Tom 2009 ?
  9. And here's a new version of one of Enforcer84's characters: Bloodsport If the scimitar he wields wasn't bad enough to have to face, Bloodsport also has a pair of kukri knives for very close-quarters combat; the armored gauntlet worn on his left arm is not only strong enough to withstand and parry blows from an enemy's own weapons, he can also use it as a hand-to-hand weapon as well. For those who might think that they're safely out of his blades' reach, Bloodsport has an unpleasant surprise for them: two razor-sharp, saw-toothed chakram throwing discs. When used in the way that some sources suggest -- twirling it on the inside rim to build up speed before hurling it with considerable force against an opponent -- these weapons have the potential to cripple, if not outright kill, any foe facing Bloodsport. When you add his unarmed combat skills to the mix, you've got someone who redefines the phrase "Extreme Fighter" -- as well as someone you can count on to take a fight seriously (unlike the Inigo Montoya-type, spear-dancing moron in Game of Thrones). 10. Indulging in a bit of 5th Ed. NPC necromancy here: Bora I decided to take a shot at redoing her pic with more of the image options, especially those allowing for more facial expression as well as some (limited) action. Major Tom 2009
  11. As far as I can tell, the part of it that was the character image creation tools is gone, but the last time that I checked to see if the free downloads section was still there, it was. Be warned, though: when I attempted to download the Fd2014 software from the site, my laptop got hit with a virus. The only reason that I'm still able to make FdH2014 images is that the original download from the site (which I thought had been erased when my laptop had to be rebooted) was still in the Downloads section. I haven't tried to go back to the Fabrica site since then, so I don't know if it's still there or not, and I'm not about to take a chance on getting re-infected. Major Tom 2009
  12. The first pic of the new year from yours truly: Firebreak The newest member of the Tech Squad, Firebreak was recruited from the fire department of a major city of the Midwestern U.S. This was as a result of the Tech Squad's encounter with a high-tech arsonist calling herself Madame Inferno, who the team was ill-equipped to deal with, especially given her penchant for deliberately setting fires in places where there were certain to be fairly large numbers of innocent bystanders. As a member of the Tech Squad, Firebreak has access to technological gear that is in advance of anything else currently in existence anywhere on Earth -- especially given the specific focus that it has: to enable him to not only survive in extreme high-temperature environments such as the interiors of burning buildings, but also to put out fires (if possible) and carry out the rescue of those trapped by said fires. To this end, the suit worn by Firebreak incorporates a backpack-mounted extinguisher unit, which is capable of spraying wide-angle jets of fire-suppressant foam. In addition, there are canisters of various types of concentrated fire-suppressant chemicals housed within the unit, which allows Firebreak to tailor the foam to better fight whatever type of fire he happens to be dealing with at the time (whether it be chemical, electrical or other type of accelerant-based fire). A secondary system within the unit consists of two tanks of Halon which are under high pressure; when activated, these tanks are capable of filling a large area (approximately 50' x 50' x 10') with Halon gas in order to deprive a fire of the oxygen it needs in order to burn. The combination of the foam and Halon gas allows Firebreak to fight a fire far more effectively on his own; when working alongside a local fire department, his presence means that a fire can be put out more rapidly than usual, and with a minimum of casualties (whether said casualties are fatalities or simple injuries). Firebreak also has one additional piece of equipment which he uses when fighting a fire: a fireman's axe, which was forged from a single piece of an as-yet unidentified (and highly-classified) super-alloy. With this axe, Firebreak can cut or smash his way through doors and walls that would give other firefighters (with their mundane versions of the fireman's axe) a hard time. Major Tom 2009
  13. Unless I've read the title of it wrong, there's a movie coming out at some point in time featuring La Llorona; a horror flick, of course. Major Tom 2009 ?
  14. One possibility for a psionic-based hunter group would be the Phoenix Project, from the pre-4th Edition GURPS Psionics sourcebook/worldbook. The premise of the group (IIRC) was that it was an underground organization made up of those with psionic abilities (not just humans; one of its members was a psionic wolf -- that's right folks, you've read correctly, a psionic wolf), who kept an eye out for anyone that had recently manifest- ed psionic abilities of their own, due to the fact that certain organizations -- both within and outside of the government -- wanted to claim these individuals for their own reasons, and not necessarily altruistic ones. 15. Of course LL is mighty...he has the power of Agent Elrond to call upon if need be (?). Major Tom 2009
  16. The basic power (as described on page 36 of the USD) is as follows: Entangle 4d6, 6 def, Takes No Damage From Attack, Indirect Target/Area Affected: One character Duration: Instant Range: 560" END Cost: 11 Advantages: Takes No Damage From Attack (+1/2), Cannot Be Escaped With Teleportation (+1/4), Indirect (+1/2) (112 Active Points). Limitations: Cannot Form Barriers (-1/4), Vulnerable (biomanipulation attacks, -1/4), Vulnerable (mental attacks, -1/2). Total cost: 56 points. Major Tom 2009 ?
  17. I wish I would've been able to find my copy of the UNTIL Superpowers Database back when I had this thread idea;; it turns out that there is just such a power listed in the Body Powers section, and it's called Seizure Induction. Major Tom 2009 ?
  18. I can just see a time-manipulating supervillain deciding to time-jump her ahead about 38 millennia -- her motif just screams 'Sister of Battle'. Major Tom 2009
  19. Well, color me mildly embarrassed -- I had forgotten about that little detail with regards to who did the Batman theme. Major Tom 2009 ?
  20. With regards to Allana: somewhere in the afterlife, the shade of Nelson Riddle is belting out a certain TV theme song... Major Tom 2009
  21. True enough, I suppose -- I just wish I could figure out where to find the M&M to HERO conversion method that he used to create these writeups; that would make writing up the missing characters a little bit easier. Major Tom 2009?
  22. The impression that I've always had regarding grand-mal seizures (from both TV/movie sources as well as the printed word where characters who suffer from epilepsy have a part in the story; both the film and novelized versions of The Andromeda Strain come to mind in this regard), is that the victim reacts as if they're being subjected to an electrical current somewhere between a TASER and a household electrical cord in terms of output -- violent muscular spasms, followed by physical exhaustion. Does that sound like it might be a DEX Drain with a linked STUN Drain? Major Tom 2009
  23. A defender of the innocent against threats from the supernatural world: Voodoo Ranger Quote: "'This be a dread situation you got here, mon, truly dread -- but that's what I be here t' deal with." (For an idea of what VR sounds like when he speaks, just think of Calvin Lockhart [King Willie from Predator 2]) Major Tom 2009?
  24. How would you write up a ranged power that, when used, induces a state similar to grand-mal epilepsy in its victim (or victims, if written up with an area-effect advantage)? Major Tom 2009
  25. I find it just a tad frustrating that one of the villains in Freedom City -- Star-Khan -- didn't get a HERO version writeup in Mr. Kenson's document. Space Cadet ?
