    No offence taken, I read the booklet. I know what to expect. Just pointing out that lots of people don't necessarily. Explaining once in fine print that when you say business days it doesn't actually mean the days that your business is open doesn't seem sufficient to me, particularly since so many people seem to miss it.

     

    And it still irks me that banks are perfectly willing to take the funds out of your account right away, but then hold them for more than a week before they give the person you wrote the check to access to them. Just seems to me that they're perfectly capable of finding the money right away, but feel the need to hold on to it a while.

     

    The whole process was designed around a time where it could easily take a week or more to find out if an account at a different bank had the funds to cover a check or other type of transaction. That is for the most part no longer the case. But the process hasn't changed much, at least from the POV of the customer. The money gets transferred to the bank quickly, they just hold onto it for a while before they let you have access to it.

     

    It really depends on the bank though. Mine is setup that it impacts me as little as possible. Other banks do have systems that are the opposite of that. I recommend you check out the link I posted above. It explains some of the myths behind banks. I just wish the whole world would take the time and read that information.

    Ah, so the business days in question are the FDIC's business days, not the bank's business days. Potentially it could help if that was explained up front to the customers. I know that I get annoyed when a business says that something will take "x business days" and they don't count all of the days they are open without saying so up front.

     

    But then again, someone in that position (trying to get money quickly from a check) is generally frazzled to begin with, so probably isn't going to be overly reasonable.

    No offense, but it is explained. It is the disclosure booklet that explains all of the bank policies and practices including their Funds Availability Disclosure. You know what booklet I mean. It is the one you tossed aside and didn't read. :)

    The FDIC is only open Monday through Friday. Checks cannot be processed as such on Saturdays and Sundays. Yet people assume that since they made the deposit on Saturday, the check should be available by Monday. The bank has had way of clearing the check, unfortunately.

     

    And it is always the bank's fault.

    And you know what I hate... just because you are open on Saturdays and Holidays, people think those count as business days. *shakes head*

    Choice 1: 5x 8-hour shifts with only Sunday guaranteed off. Random start and end times on my shift.

     

    Choice 2: 4x 10 hour-shifts with three days guaranteeed off. Set start and end time.

     

    Regardless of which schedule option I pick, I will always work Saturdays. :(

    I very much would love to go and raise hell but the common sense in me knew that there is always a better path. I figured I'd suggest it and I'm glad it is one you liked.
