  1. Re: Hero/D20 experts wanted

Yeah' date=' but the idea is that the D20 players that read the converted ones will get a tiny smidge of exposure to Hero. Stay visible. Stay visible. Eh? Eh? Okay, so I knew it might not really fly. Hence the :hush:[/quote']

That's what references to Pulp Hero are for. :)

  2. Re: Ravenswood Academy Yearbook

I have to admit, a yearbook format book would make an awesome way to present a Teen Champions campaign setting.

Seniors get full page write-ups and are worth more points. Juniors and Sophemores gets half page write-ups and are worth decent points. Only the Freshmen class officers get write-ups, the rest get brief descriptions.

Various Clubs "reveal" the school. The faculty section is the GM Notes.

Have the yearbook itself be the yearbook of one of the seniors and splatter signatures and messages throughout the entire book. You could have some sort of evil yearbook comment from a villain here and there.

  3. Re: 2 for 1 pt STR - Question

I know a lot of people have opinions about the cost of STR. Right now, though, I'm only asking those who have actually participated - either playing or running - in a game where the cost of STR was increased. I know some people have mentioned a house rule of 2 pts per pt of STR.

If you haven't actually experienced such a rule, then whether you love the idea or hate it, I'd rather you hold off on addressing it.

For those who HAVE experienced it first hand, I want to know what effect it had on the game? How long did the game run? What sort of campaign was it - superhero, fantasy, sci fi or what? How did it effect character design, or the way the game played out?

In your opinion, did it benefit the game? How? Did it harm the game? How?

    Thank you.

The palindromedary notes that with this opinionated bunch, it may be too much to hope that only those with experience will sound off....

    Game: Savage Earth

    Character: Palon

    STR: 18

    Level: Heroic

Ultimately, it means stronger characters are rarer. And as someone who is playing a strong character, it means I'm the one that does the heavy lifting and the heavy work. I also come across as more threatening than playing a character with a 20 or higher STR. And in truth, I lost an extra 8 points. And what would that have given me? A single full flexible CSL or slightly improved skills. Perhaps two extra martial maneuvers.

In the end, it was not a major difference and it makes my character feel, well, unique and apart from the rest more. I like it.

  4. Re: Valdorian age sorcery question

    Quick Answer:

It is special effect. Use your own stats.

    Long Answer:

Spells are an exercise of the caster's will. Instead of summoning an entire creature, they are summoning the creature long enough to use their power. When you summon something, it appears, you give it orders and it goes off and does its thing. However, when you summon something for a spell, you aren't instructing it how to attack. Thus the spell is limited to how you cast it. Because of this, it is your capabilities that determine success, not the creature the powers come from.

Do you use cross-cultural penalties for seduction and the like? If so, this isn't necessary.

Elfs have pointed ears, chiseled features, roughly man sized but thinner bodies, they can not grow facial hair, but 1/2 elves may. Most elves stand a couple of inches shorter than men.

Elven society is a society where the arts flourish & magic is common. Elven Villages & Towns are similar in some manners to human’s, but with more elegance and hygiene to them.

The Capital City of the elves is rife with political intrigue: plots, scandals, secret deals, and different nobles trying to get ahead. This has even worked its way into the military, where the royal guard, and the swords of Baelavel are constantly on each other. Duels in the street are not uncommon It is said that the elves created the game of throwns, a statement that is probably quite true.

Elves have a well earned reputation for being a bit high on themselves, this has hurt there relation with most races. Dwarves especially do not get along well with them, while humans value what they can teach them. Halflings are the only race that seems to get along with them well. Races with Orc blood (Ogres, Goblins, etc) love the taste of there flesh.

  6. Steve Long mentioned he has references to the Elder Worm story that takes place behind the scenes sprinkled throughout many books. I ran into one of them today and decided it would probably be a good idea to just setup a thread devoted to collecting the various Elder Worm book and page references.

    Elder Worm References:

    CKC pgs. 198-200

    TA pg. 285

  7. Re: Need a McGuffin Name

In the game I ended up using [random name]'s Source of Power. The source of power is going to be using something undescriptive off of the many examples provided. I may have it pull a name from the Turakian Age just to make it sound very old.

No, I will not be using Kul Turak as that name. :)

  8. Re: Other HU Fantasy Hero Settings

I can't really answer your Elder Worm-Edom question without giving away tidbits from the secret backstory scattered here and there across various books' date=' so I'm going to leave it be for now. All will be revealed in the fullness of time. :eg:[/quote']

I have a question about the Elder Worm's in the backstory that takes place between 5000 SE and the start of Valdorian Age. Is this in the part of the secret backstory area we can't find out about?

If so, if I was to write an official supplement book on Khor, could I find out?

If not, let me know and I'll ask the question. :)

  9. I need a McGuffin for tonight's game. That is, I need the name of something that someone is looking for. The name of the McGuffin should not reveal what type of object it is but should imply something powerful.

The object is demonic in origin. One of the party members has touched the object but does not realize it and even when confronted with the fact he touched it, will have no idea what the item could possibly have been.

Also note, this is for my Valdorian Age campaign.

  10. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Thanks. I'm technically speaking a Manager now. I'll begin training once an availability opens up which should be within the next couple of weeks. Depending on which client it is with, I will get a $0.50 raise and then shortly thereafter a $1.00 raise. If I get a position within the current client, it will be an immediate $1.50 raise. Then after a while I'll go from training to full fledged Manager on salary.
