  2. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

Thank-you Legatus, thanks Kahuna's Brother; I'm delighted you found the idea of the Para-Elementals appealing. Of course, the pics really help shape the concept...but all I did was mix 'n' match them, courtesy of Ammotu at deviantART.

This Supers Creation "game" -- as he calls it -- is available in his account at deviantART.com, so please stop by and tell him you like his style. He puts these games together for his own amusement and posts them in his account for others to use...and he has more than just the Supers. Check out his "humanized versions of Transformers" game!

And as for my Para-Elementals: here's the last and the team leader, Steam. He rises....

I found a 6-pointed star design in the game, and used a little cut-and-paste to add it to all six of the characters. I'll update the attachments to show it, but not just now. Now is time for sleeping, yes?

  3. Re: HERO SYSTEM MARTIAL ARTS -- What Do *You* Want To See?

A condensed version of Lucha Libre could be included under Professional Wrestling.

Similarly, what if there was a chart for rolling up a name for a maneuver?

What if there were subgenre-based alternatives for applicable martial arts writeups?

A martial art style to possibly look up is Chun Kuk Do - the body of martial arts techniques taught by Chuck Norris.

i'm late to this party but i agree with the main man
  4. Re: Online Fantasy HERO: Campaign genre

I'm going to have to differ with most of the people here. I'm not a fan of "grim and gritty". Many people are dealing with lost jobs or other real world problems, and there are a lot of horrible things going on in the world. I want something optimistic, and grim and gritty tends to make PCs feel that they cannot change things. The PCs may have small victories, but regardless of their actions bad things will happen to good people - frequently.

For an online game, I'd prefer high fantasy to low fantasy. You can deal with the bigger powers easier in an online game because the game is slower-paced. Plus, high fantasy tends to be less about shades of gray, which can really show things down in an online environment.

Now, high fantasy doesn't have to mean lots of magic items, or mage characters outshining everyone else. With the HERO system, you can have mundane characters with exceptional abilities, like an archer who can shoot the wings off a fly at 20 paces, or a martial artist who can paralyze a foe with a touch.

    i can see your point
  5. Re: 7 Sci-Fi Series Ripe for Movie Reboots

They made a floppy Bionic Woman that lasted a season on NBC IIRC.

6M man aint gonna happen if the more famous and popular character based remake didn't survive.

as i understood it the writers strike that season was the main part of BW's cancellation they were working on better stories when the plug was pulled
