  1. Re: What to do with an extra copy of Wings of the Valkyrie?

As I recall the story, a lobby group in Canada protested to the Hero Games distributor that the module was "anti-Semitic" and "justified the Holocaust" (complete misinterpretation IMO), which prompted Hero Games to recall WotV rather than deal with bad publicity.

Others have posted here with more first hand information, but with the Search function currently very finicky I can't call up that material.

Fair enough... you're pretty fantastic w/ the search tools. If you can't find it, then I'm not going to try... I bet someone will wander along with more of the story.

    Thanks for the info, though.

  2. Re: What to do with an extra copy of Wings of the Valkyrie?

I guarantee you can make a nice bit of change out of selling it on eBay. Based on past sales I've seen' date=' in the condition yours is you should expect it to go for around $40.00 [b']minimum[/b].

BTW WotV was "allowed" into Canada; I bought a copy in Edmonton when it first came out. But the protest that eventually caused it to be withdrawn did start in Canada, I'm ashamed to say. :o

    Protest? There was really protesting?

    Tell me more!

And thank you for your correction above.

  3. Re: What to do with an extra copy of Wings of the Valkyrie?

Ebay is probably your best bet.

Or you can hold a contest for superheroic art or fiction and offer that as a prize.

Or you can make them dance for you... dance fanboys, dance!

Wait, that might be an abuse of power.

Very nice... I like the dancing option.

Mental note: more Rep to Hermit.

  4. Found a couple of copies of the very rare Wings of the Valkyrie Champs module by Rob Bell that are in fantastic shape. (See the attached image... it's in shrinkwrap, so there's a little distortion in the image.)

I'm probably going to keep a copy for myself, but what to do with the other one? I know there are many people out there that need Wings to complete their collections. I'm considering selling my "extra" on eBay, unless someone has a better idea.

For those of you that don't know, this is the infamous Nazi/time travel adventure that wasn't allowed into Canada. If I've got my Hero history right it was recalled and has subsequently become very hard to find. (If you know more about the story, feel free to post it.)

But anyway, let me know what you think.

  5. Re: Why are so many people upset that Cryptic is only using the Champions IP?

Hero Games sold the Champions and Dark Champions IP to Cryptic. In exchange' date=' Hero Games got a free license to print PnP RPG products using that IP in perpetuity and gets access to concept art for the MMO for use in those products. These products must be approved by Cryptic. There are protections for Hero Games in the deal such as the requirement of Cryptic to pay a large sum of money to Hero to revoke the license among others.[/quote']

And, as has been pointed out... there's nothing to stop Hero from developing Supers products outside of the CU if things did go sour. (And they'd be able to do so with all of the buyout money that Rod mentions above.)
