  1. Just so you all know, the heroic publishing website has alot of these available for free online...(they have changed some of the names (Freddy is now called "The Fox")

     

    And as the side effect of a transformation spell that a DEMON Morbane cast on him as a disguise way back in the original miniseries, he's unknowingly developed an alternate personality and occasionally physically and mentally turns into a female superhuman mercenary who knows about him and is trying to find a way to permanently take control.

  2. A somewhat creepy element was added to Giant (Goliath in the RPG).  It turns out that the harness that gives him his powers also gives him the memories of the previous wearers.

    The original Giant was a hero in World War II.  The Giant in the original comic is his son-in-law, who became Giant after the original's death.  This means that he remembers his wife being his daughter.  Years after Giant's death at the hands of the Demon-Master, his son became the third Giant, transformed into an adult when he uses the harness, similar to Captain Marvel/Shazam.  This means that he remembers his mother being his wife and his daughter.

  3. The Air Powers chapter in Champions Powers (6e) and the first UNTIL Superpowers Database (5e) had an Air Cushion power that enabled the character to resist Knockback and survive long falls. 

     

    "Fall-Breaking Cushion: Breakfall 14-; Costs Endurance (-½), Only For Falls Of 2 Segments’ Duration Or Longer (-½)"

     

    A successful roll halves falling damage, with a roll of half the target number resulting in no damage.  There's a -1 penalty per 4m (2") fallen.

     

    It included a variant where the cushion could be created under someone else.

    "add... the Advantages Usable By Other (+¼) and Ranged (+½)".  In this case, Ranged wouldn't be needed.

  4. Trump and the Republicans are talking about press conferences and celebrations.  Given how little Trump knows about how the government actually works, I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that it's done, and he's expecting to sign it into law as soon as they can get it to his desk.

    "What do you mean that the Senate has to approve it?  Everyone kept talking about needing to get enough House votes.  We did that.  What does the Senate have to do with that?"

     

    And the Senate has already decided to create their own legislation anyway.

  5. It sure seems like it was their plan all along to shove those two together. Not that any of the other guys on the show had any chemistry with her either, but at least Mon-El has superpowers and she doesn't have to worry about keeping him out of harm's way all the time.

     

    I don't have any issue with Mon-El or the actor, aside from being profoundly envious that he gets to go home with Melissa every night and...well, you know.

     

     

    I've bolded the core of the problem.  Kara has more chemistry with Lena than with any of the male characters.

  6. While looking for something completely different, I stumbled across an official chainsaw.  Finally!!  I knew there had to be one somewhere.

     

    Digital Hero #43.  First Person Shooter Hero, by Michael Surbrook.  So, technically, a video game chainsaw.

     

    HKA 1d6+1, +1 Stun Multiplier, Continuous, 0 END (because cinematic chainsaws never run out of fuel), Activation Roll 15-, Burnout (the actual roll varies based on what's being cut), OAF, No Knockback, Real Weapon.

It sounds familiar.  If I'm recalling correctly, it was character creation guidelines.  If you're building a character whose main focus is Characteristics/Skills/Powers, then you should spend x points on Characteristics, y points on Skills, and z points on Powers, with the specific numbers varying depending on what your focus was.

    It's not in either of the Hero System Almanacs, and I skimmed the article index in Adventurer's Club #26 and nothing looked familiar.

     

    Are you sure it was 4e?  Maybe a 5e Digital Hero article?

    Just looked through all of the Digital Hero issues.  Nothing there either.

  8. This is why we need renewable energy, IMHO. Without the lure of petroleum, we'd really have no compelling reason to be involved in the Middle East any more. They want us out; we'd be able to oblige and not have to send billions of dollars to nations with hostile and abusive governments. Win-win.

     

     

    Off on a tangent...I saw a similar claim in an RPG book (Wild Talents), in a section on creating alternate histories for a game.  In the example history, the development of cheap and efficient fusion power caused the global demand for petroleum to vanish, crippling the economies of the Middle East.  The problem is that most oil consumption is in the form of gasoline and diesel fuel.  If cheap renewable energy led to internal combustion engines being abandoned in favor of electric vehicles, it would work, but that extra step is needed.

The 5e version of Dark Champions had optional Grace Under Fire rules, to determine if a character was able to act clearly and efficiently in extremely dangerous situations.  It was a PRE Roll, modified by the importance of the action, level of danger, Psychological Complications, etc.  The degree of success or failure determined the outcome of the action, ranging from a +2 bonus with a 4+ margin of success, to losing a full Phase, taking no actions, and being at half DCV with a 4+ margin of failure.

  10. Yeah, I tried those. :) Images doesn't seem to allow for a base effect of a single sense, only a sense group. (At least, HD doesn't permit it, and it's pretty good about enforcing RAW.) I remember a Limitation about affecting a single sense instead of a group, but that wouldn't change the AP.

     

     

    It's the Limited Effect Limitation, -1/4.

    "A Sense-Affecting Power with this Limitation only affects one or two Senses in a Sense Group, rather than the entire Sense Group."

     

    The name is a little vague.  It gets lost among things like Limited Power and Limited Special Effect.

  11. I toyed with the idea of a Transform-based magic item creation power, based on Tobias "The Toad" Vandaleur's Incantatory Imbuement spell in Champions Villains Vol. 2.

     

    Transform Normal Object to Magic Item.  Adding 10 Active Points via Transform adds 2 to the target's effective BODY for the Transform, so you start with a 1d6+1 Severe Transform with Standard Effect (4 BODY).  Make it All Or Nothing and Damage Over Time, with the damage occurring once per day, and the number of increments determines how powerful an item you can create.  With 10 increments, for example, you can enchant up to 100 Active Points over the course of 10 days.  Buying more Transform dice would let you enchant items faster, like some Feats in 3.5 D&D allow.  You have to know how to create a particular item, requiring use of the Inventor Skill, or finding someone's research, and it requires very expensive Expendable Foci.

     

    There's still the question of the base BODY of the object though.  Maybe big objects are just harder to enchant, so they can't be imbued with as much power.

     

     

    EDIT:  A version I quickly threw together in Hero Designer.

     

    Enchant Item:  Severe Transform 1d6+1 (standard effect: 4 points) (Normal Object into Magical Item, Healed by breaking object), Improved Results Group (Known Magical Items; +1/4), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (35 Active Points); OAF Expendable (Extremely Difficult to obtain new Focus; -2), All Or Nothing (-1/2), Damage Over Time (10 damage increments, damage occurs every 1 Day, can be negated by Ending Concentration; -1/2), Concentration (0 DCV; -1/2), No Range (-1/2), Limited Target (High quality objects suitable for enchantment; -1/4).  Total cost: 7 points.

     

    You're stuck in the lab for the entire 10 days, or the enchantment fails.

  12. Images can already move. Casting it on an object is just SFX.

     

     

    Area effects can only be moved if they have the Mobile Advantage, which requires an Attack action to move the effect a limited distance each Phase.

     

    The Mobile Advantage (6E1 324) says "Ordinarily a Constant Area-affecting power cannot move once established, unless it has the No Range Limitation so that it "sticks to" the character generating it and moves as he moves, or the Usable As Attack Advantage so a character can "stick" it to a target and have it move as the target moves."

     

    Usable As Attack says the same thing on 6E1 358.  "Usable As Attack allows a character to "attach" a Constant Power to a target and have that Power follow him as he moves."

     

    That doesn't appear to have made it into Champions Complete or Fantasy Hero Complete.  They just say that a Constant Area Power can't be moved unless it has Mobile added.
