Oooh...I failed to realize.  Czechoslovakia has the *worst* rate in the world right now.  WorldOMeters listed it as "Czechia" and my brain didn't connect.  Their new case rate is slightly worse than 1 per 2000 people.  But, yes, those four countries have the worst surges in Europe right now.

And ScottishFox...is that what you want?  15,000 new cases a day in Texas rather than 5000?  Maybe 25,000?  It might not be that bad elsewhere, but Texas has far too large a stubborn, no one can tell ME what to do streak, which is largely why they were so slow in the first place.

Czechoslovakia  split a while ago into Slovakia and Czech Republic, probably talking about latter, though never heard Czechia actually used.

  2. It might have been 2018, when Sanchez hit .186. But, regardless, he provides power and absolutely nothing else. 2 Hrs a week isnt worth it if you go 1 for 19 with 13 is the rest of the week. To be fair his defense has improved the last couple of years.......

From putrid to well below average.

Barrett tempts fate and throws a swarm of Ewoks back at Badger.  They have their intended effect and give the demons something to gnaw on besides the faces of the fair members of this board.  Unfortunately, one or two get past the demons and land within striking distance of Badger.  Barrett blanches and prepares to take cover.  (+5 points)

Badger gets distracted chasing a d then devouring the escaped ewoks.  Giving time for the others to escape

    Damn it

  4. Yankees, should probably dump Sanchez, .125 is bad even in a 60 game season. Coupled with a bad 2019.  Plus weak defense. Higashioka isnt long term but he is good #2, to catch 30 percent of time in tandem with another defense first guy.

My dad the yankees fan, we did discuss Sanchez last year. I suggested they were probably better off last year when he was hurt and went with a Romine and Higashioka tandem. My dad did point out his potential and bad luck year. Which was true at the time. Of course Romine is no longer an option.

Sanchez probably could use a change of place. Otherwise, he might be a weak hit, weak field backup catcher with prodigious  power potential. Still useful, but not expensive.

“Beer Buggery”  Nice phrase!  It took me a second to figure out what you were talking about.  It sounded like something that happens to you if you go to the Oktoberfest with the English Navy during the 1700’s.

”All righty now Cabin Boy, it’s time to pay for yer’ lager!”

That sounds like a argument for temperance

For me it’s not Halloween until Jack Skellington beats the Oogie-Boogie man and Bette Middler runs around with Sarah Jessica Parker. Halloween has never been about “horror,” for me; it’s a celebration of life by recognizing that its fleeting and remembering those who came before us. But the actual answer to your question, it’s not Halloween until I’ve watched The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I have to see the shining, jack nicholson stars as himself in this biopic

Watching the Yankees lose NEVER gets old.  (I blame John Sterling;  I'm simply LOATHE listening to him call a game.)

But what was that weird thing Joey Cora did there...you know...just tapping at the ball?  Isn't that illegal????  Wow, that really looks like something that could be really effective from time to time!!!

(And how the HECK did it take 10 years for Edgar Martinez to be elected into the Hall?  Ridiculous.)

Martinez was a DH, they didn't want one of those.

Huh.  It's not that surprising it wasn't Gase...but O'Brien.  It's not a crime to go 0-3, when it was Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers.  OK, losing to the Vikes, that's not good.

Phil Simms was pointing out, this is probably culture and attitude...but also getting the guy in to support and groom DeShaun Watson.  They've been...I dunno if they've really been underachievers, but largely stuck in MediocreLand.  And this may also be the ownership transition firming up, and the new guy isn't as committed.

Well.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple more before Cavity Day.

I think it could have been: you can trade Hopkins, but you better make things pay off quick if you do.

It wasn't just him.  It'd been building.  From 63-66, Koufax's worst ERA was 2.04,  Drysdale wasn't much worse.  Lolich dominated in the AL.  Strikeouts were notably up for several years, compared to the 50s.  But, yeah, that insanely good year of his was probably the impetus.

Of course, if strikeouts are the concern...here's a tidbit for you.  Every year since 2005, strikeouts per 9 innings goes up.  Raw strikeouts went down this year...but there were also a LOT of 7 inning games.  SO/9 broke 9 this year.  That's MLB-wide.  Yes, on average, there's a strikeout an inning.  (In '68 SO/9 was 6.)  Oh, and note that it still went up this year, despite the 3 batter minimum rule.

Lost in 1968, was the denny mclain 30 win season. He and 1934 dizzy dean being the only 2 to do that in 100 years.

Hmm, Lefty Grove might have done it too, come to think of it
