The Broncos and Saints combined for two completions for -8 yards in the first quarter of their game today.

Hinton ended up 1 for 9.

I did come across, a Bills/Jets boxscore in the mid 70s. Where the Bill's Joe Ferguson went 0 for 2 for the game.  Of course, OJ went for 150+, and the fullback Jim Braxton went over 100 too.

Also, probably helping them was Joe Namath who went 2 for 18 with 3 interceptions.

So, in that game defenders caught more passes than receivers.

Oh and Namath Qb rating was 0.

Not gonna lie, I kind of want to see this game. Except for the injury risk to the players.

Yeah it would be interesting, especially if they could've figured out some crazy scheme.

Hey maybe, the could put both those players in a shotgun and have the center random snap. Call it the double barrel.

I saw today that Rick Pitino, the current Iona basketball coach and past coach at Kentucky and Louisville, advocated for a delay in the start of the college basketball season, due to the difficulties with the pandemic and the procedures it's imposed.  I hope they take a long hard look:  15 games were impacted today;  that's after 10 last week.  And that doesn't consider games that were allowed to be played, but for which one or both teams were significantly affected.  I heard Miami very nearly missed having enough players at one position today.

So this college football season has been a massive joke...and it started when the case numbers were merely We Should Be Doing Better.  Yes, well, in many places it's HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  One out of every 300 Americans became a New Case *this week*.  It's *still* not clear to me, even as far into the college football schedule as we are, that it will finish with something close to New Years' bowls or at least the CFP.

Lesson:  DON'T START the college basketball season in this utter MESS.

Not that they're terribly likely to listen.

Rick Pitino is still around? I thought they ran him off after his 22nd scandal

  5. Anyway, just a heads up, I might be around much for a month or so. Going to spend on some projects (gaming and otherwise) I have put for forever. Seems a perfect time, I need some time off from reality as much as possible, to get a rest, and freshen my perspective.

Well, planning on Monday, my next day off, to have that full day for a good start you might say, so I may pop in tomorrow

So Lamar Jackson is out for the Ravens, which means 8 starters are out due to Covid.

Their practice facility is closed until Monday as a result, according to Adam Schefter, and that of course would seem to mean the game can't be played.  No statement so far.  Whatever the league does, seems to be a mess.  Play?  Ravens will be massively undermanned and poorly prepared.  My gut expects the league to say postponed, MAY be played in week 18 , but that's TBD.  If there are several such games, then maybe they mess around with the week 18 games.  If not, then perhaps the game's just declared a no-contest.  THAT, tho, raises the specter that the game result might be very significant for making the playoffs.  And if the Steelers have the #1 seed, and the Ravens are out, then the game can be cancelled with no real repercussions.

The undermanned, does make me think, too bad.  But, then there is a danger of the other team getting contagion and possible unnecessary injuries to the clean Raven players, if enough players cant be scavenged off the practice squad.

    3rd time's the charm?

Ravens-Steelers NOW scheduled for Tuesday night.  Which means Ravens-Cowboys gets dumped out of TNF to late Monday afternoon kick (5 ET).

Lamar Jackson's clearly out against the Steelers;  I think it's close if he might make it back for Dallas.  But with, what, 8 starters out, the game against the Steelers is almost a lost cause...and if they can't get the starters back, the game against the Cowboys becomes something of a toss-up.

Sort of good news for the Cowboys to get extra rest.

If the team wasn't a complete FUBAR at this point.

Either that, or 2020 has worn them down and they have devolved into resigned acceptance of doom, in which case they may be seeking a quicker end.

I am signing up for Cancer's class next semester then.

This may end up mutually assured destruction though.

It's this pattern to begin with why I deeply hate the Trump movement.  Slavish devotion to a man who threatens entire states (New York, California) that he is supposed to represent.

I agree about the movement, though I understand the people, a lot of them have been absolutely alienated by both parties. And they metaphorically spat on by both parties in general, and liberals in particular.

My feelings are also a bit mixed on the other side, being an independent. After 4 years of "the resistance" everytime I hear Biden call for unity, my ears want to bleed. It feels ridiculously hollow even for the Trump era.

I am ok with the result, but how we got there is a large part of my political frustration I am dealing with at the moment. To be honest.

I am pretty much just trying to shut down the political part of my brain for awhile (probably 6 months at least).
