  1. As angry as I am, and still am, about Trump. I value the talk about Brexit the most as a reflection of how our own politics influenced it, and how it reflects our own issues.
  2. I don't think they'll be upset. Because the game to the 'mood of the trolls', the ones who are pushing this stuff the hardest, is 'do whatever it takes to win the war'. That's the thing here. People who are apologizing for those people among their own party don't understand that those people are legitimately trying to start a civil war and to suck them into it. There's no concept of fair play or running a shared country, there never was. It's them 'destroying the enemy at any cost', and if we dare treat them anywhere the same it's "see? they are oppressing US! now we 'have to must gotta' fight back". And unfortunately those vocal voices are the ones their politicians are speaking to and kowtowing to. Any concept of trying to run the country isn't as important. Any concept of trying to share the country isn't as important. This behavior might stem from evangelical thought that literally the entire world is the Devil. Literally everything not from the Bible is the Enemy. And yes I still get into arguments with friends over basic facts and details. At least one of them is interested in improving things overall and we can agree on 'general direction', but wholly has bought into Trumpian beliefs. I was literally fighting not to yell at one of my friends when Trump did this by confessing why he fired Comey. They are literally -that- willing to ignore what he says when it suits them.
  3. Fun times 😕 https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2021/03/06/kyrsten-sinema-minimum-wage-vote-sot-vpx-ebof.cnn/video/playlists/this-week-in-politics/
  4. Had two friends receive pieces of glass in their meals, IIRC.
  5. Apparently it's been a continual complaint that services like grubhub and door dash already siphon so much money from restaurants that they are considered a liability over in-house drivers. Restaurants actually found they were losing money after adopting those services. I don't imagine that changing. Would be interesting to see some investigation on that though.
  6. Literally why I've been posting the most doomer-y comments for the last four years.
  7. Pretty much we are throwing elections out the window it looks like How tolerant am I supposed to be again? /s I don't want to dig up my rant on tolerantness from earlier, and most of the players from that are either not around on the thread or are probably banned by now.

  9. My main concern with this is how many people will vote trump solely to shore it up. Like, they feel obligated to vote that way because they can never let Dems win, or the like. They think of Trump as the 'lesser' of the evils...
  10. lol. aah... something he came up with, then. I misunderstood.
  11. I mean, I'm not surprised, but this literally has built the table for a second civil war. The fact that the senate has decided to split their vote along party lines over a literal insurrection event (meant to actually kill one or both parties) practically screams that one is inevitable now.
  12. So... now what? Political violence is on the table as long as you are in the lame duck period and have a fig leaf of an excuse?
  13. Yeah but Trump would have said "See? They seized power unfairly even though the VP is dead so technically no one else can become president! It's unconstitutional! Now we have to raise arms" yadda yadda. I mean, when you have so many literally believing every word out of his mouth over taking 5 minutes to actually read the constitution...
  14. Brutally big lawsuits. To start. Which means maintaining some semblance of sanity in the justice system. The day our major government functions or legal system starts acting in as blatant a partisan manner is the day this country is over. Pay attention to your local elections, pressure your lawmakers, and all that crap. Just as a minimum to start. The other necessary angle is to make sure the desperate have food on the table. They eat this crap up because they are afraid. But biting a hand that is helping them is less likely. So outreach to red regions in getting them out of their effed situations.
  15. The fact of the matter is, right wing media has already convinced more than half of republican voters that the capitol hill riot wasn't a riot, that trump wasn't responsible in any way, that dem hysteria is a callous attempt to employ mass censorship, and the talk about google cutting right wing media voices is far more important than any conversation about what 'probably didn't happen'. It's been a single month and I already see friends talking in private about the evil dems censoring them out and how someone has to do something about it. (edit: in that vague way that conspiracy peoples who don't want to actively engage in something but are totally convinced that it should be dealt with)
  16. I won't speculate, but I will say having that football stolen would be a security breach unlike anything the country has ever faced. You'll be happy to know one of my friends still says that "The capitol hill events don't pass the sniff test. Couldn't have happened" I regularly see comparisons of it and "democrats burning down cities" Because a Target on fire is equally as bad as nearly having one of the vice presidents assassinated by a mob stirred up by a president attempting to permanently seize power?
  17. Wonder how they would feel about being the only survivor from a family of 10... and the generational emotional damage that caused my family.
  18. And already my R friends/sources are saying she was fired for not putting 'she/her' gender pronouns in her profile.
  19. This unfortunately has been a thing for a while. This is why you catch all of these stupid runon dialogues from congressmen during events like trials and other meetings. It's entirely so it can be clipped by fox/etc and so they can go "Xman is a hero! see him yell at Y group for Z reason."
  20. Yeah. A lot of what was said in 'high school' is only for people in special advanced courses as far as I know. I had such a thing in Canada, but I was basically taking first term college courses in HS (called OAC). Basics are important, but right now even basic writing and mathematics seem to be in dismal condition. Stuff like history and certain arts are important for contextual reasons if nothing else, but obviously aren't taught like that. Plus some things, like arts, music, you only really can get started early otherwise you may never actually develop the core traits to do them. (ex- I really wish I got any kind of music learning early, it actually doesn't develop much if you try and do it late) So if you don't offer anything in them, you'll basically see them disappear. That being said, I wish my 'home ec' class was on taxes and budgeting and related skills.
  21. Pretty much. We will need legendary, biting lawsuits just to get us back to norms...
