  2. Re: The cranky thread After having to re-arrange our lives around my schedule... they're changing my schedule. For the worse. I am no longer in a "fair negotiation" mood.
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Didn't think they had any decent restaurants there. To some... Then again, I'm probably to 'old school' if I think Facebook dating is an act of desperation.
  4. Re: The cranky thread Actually, my vote will forever go to "I love you, but..." Samsonite has less baggage overall than I do regarding that comment alone. That aside, sorry to hear this. Even "still being friends" afterward feels... suckier. Whether that's a real word or not.
  5. Re: A Thread for Random Musings In other musings, The Secret World is hella lotta bloody fun. Been craving something of it's ilk for a very long time.
  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Hey, now...
  7. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? First few episodes of Babylon 5. Prolly watch more over the long 'weekend' I get from Wed-Fri.
  8. Re: The cranky thread The mere act of joining a DnD game would likely send me into an unrecoverable coma.
  9. Re: The cranky thread If my own extensive experience with (at times) dangerously severe insomnia is anything to go by, I'd say "sleep", no sarcasm intended. Honestly wish I knew what to suggest, but if you're anything like me, OTC sleep aids simply don't work. Heck, I'm resistant enough even to perscription narcotics that doctors and I agree that I'd simply be trading one serious medical problem for another. Last time I was battling insomnia that severe, I quit my job and moved to another state. That fixed it.
  10. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Heh, am watching the original Japanese release of Godzilla Raids Again as I type.
  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings Does that mean they can wear it whenever they want?
  12. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Yeah, a rock-salt-loaded shotgun might be taken the wrong way, these days.
  13. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Watching the original Japanese version of Terror of Mechagodzilla. Much better film (naturally) than the US release version.
  14. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. In a two-person conversation: Me: "Obviously, neither one of us has the slightest idea what you're talking about."
  15. Re: The cranky thread A big thanks to the city of Seattle, WA for conveniently arranging signs to try to goat-rope people onto a toll-bridge. Pro-tip: standing on the corner with a sign "deSperaTe nEed moNy" would be far less irritating.
  16. Re: The cranky thread Call and file complaints with their local and regional offices. We had to put up with the same irresponsible crap til we sat on their necks about it. Make sure you keep track of the dates you received the packages, and let them know your location so they can determine the route. This is a lazy driver issue.
  17. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Watched the first (of five) discs of the latter day Battlestar Galactica, Season One. Seems pretty solid, though I'm told by the folks I borrowed it from that Season Two was a letdown. I remember the original having a similar track record. Funny how that works... Also in the past few days, The Land That Time Forgot, The People That Time Forgot and At The Earth's Core. Those silly Doug McClure movies really made a lasting impression on me when I was a kid. The only one I've never been able to track down is Warlords Of Atlantis... which I vaguely recall as being the silliest of the bunch. I don't care; I still want it.
  18. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Heh, I generally check that kind of thing before I even put one in, and this is an entirely new, previously unwatched disc. Nothing on the surface, no visible marks, dings or scratches of any kind. Unfortunately, I've had it for a while, only just got around to watching it. Will give it another try, perhaps in a different dvd player, or on my pc, see if that works.
  19. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Tried watching my dvd of the restored Metropolis, but apparently the disc is defective. The playback started getting glitchy and finally locked up about halfway through.
  20. Re: Musings on Random Musings Bored in the USA?..
  21. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Graveyard Shift. The one with the silly giant bat monster living under the cottom mill.
  22. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread A bit of a "sad" happy: we finally retired (traded in) the '03 Hyundai Elantra that had pretty much carried us to hell and back, with virtually no complaint, since 2005. 146,000+ miles. Now driving a 2011 Kia Forte. A bit more interior space, similar mpg rating, very similar overall driving "feel" to the Elantra. We are pleased. Kudos to my wife for the research that got us there.
  23. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread They have two; a top one and a bottom one.
  24. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Mirrors, with Keifer Sutherland. Cool film, but could have done without the two graphically violent scenes entirely. Didin't add anything to the film.
