Re: What Have You Watched Recently? The Last Mimsy. This movie is much more frightening for parents than it is for children. It relies on some unrealistic plot points, and some people behaving irrationally. Aside from that, it was really quite good. The child actors did very well, and they were also quite well scripted - the ten-year-old is given a script that is filled with the way a ten-year-old behaves. There are some subtexts of the movie (alienation, disconnectedness, and modern life) that are very well showed without being told. On the whole I liked it, but mostly because I saw it with a seven year old and didn't mind either of us seeing it. The two instances of product placement were mild, and one of them was actually funny.

Now it's a race - can you drain his dispel before he dispels your drain? Lucky Eddie's powers are all based on luck. Detect that, Major. A few unbelievably lucky rolls later and he's walking into an escape pod while your villain's base slips into the gravity well. Additionally, Roy and Doc have very different but great points.

Cooler than kewl. Those katana cut people up, damn it. That bo staff sprayed incisors across alleyways. They cursed. He only ever said "Kowabunga" that one damn time. They were edgy, I'm tellin' you. They were indy heralds of an iron age to come. I suppose this is just desserts, then. Sold out more than Anna Nicole's sanctum sanctorum, and with less dignity. And every last one of their sashes was RED. Red, dammit. If you wanted to know who was who you had to read the dialogue or look at the weapons.

Re: Musings on Random Musings I'm hopeful that I can keep my old Nokia 3585i running until the boffins have figured out their way past the ergonomic divide. I have no need to spend a hatful of coin on a 2.5 inch square touchscreen and an even smaller keyboard. Presbyopia and gamer's thumb I can live without. As it is, my old phone has the organizer, alarm clock, and contacts list that I need. I just can't surf for itty-bitty porn on the Metro. All cynicism aside, having google at one's fingertips at all times is rather handy for finding one's way around through life. As soon as it can be done as well as I want it to be, which shouldn't be more than a couple years at this point, I'll get a fancy new phone. Until then, I kick it old school with a phone that won't break.

Re: Inherent for natural body parts Yep - inherent is unnecessary, and frequently silly. If I can suppress an extra limb for five points, why not suppress the others for five more? Suppress 360 degree vision for 10 points? Get the other 120 degrees for five more! Any rule that broken deserves to be killed by GM fiat. IMHO. YMMV (your munchkinry may vary).
