  1. Re: "He's bulletproof", "Fireproof", etc.

I will have to do this in 5th terms, as I have not 6th:

20rPD/rED armor plus 50%/50% r Damage reduction, only vs. Stun (-1/2): 100points, but slightly more than just bullet/fireproof

Modification: Upon realizing that I was going to use this on a character of my own design, I also noticed that there was another limitation on the damage reduction that makes sense for this sort of power: Does not reduce stun from attacks that do Body damage (-1/2), meaning if the attack did more than 20 body physical or energy, he's taking full stun.

    Inconspicuous Man

Joe Dokes is an average-looking middle-aged man. So much so that even his wife is hard-pressed to describe him in any detail. Inconspicuous Man's power is to be... well,
    inconspicuous
. People he works with every day will recognize him only if they're actually looking at him. Facial recognition software always seems to draw a blank when confronted with his physiognomy. Unless actually looking directly at him, most people quickly forget he's even in the room.

Help me out here, folks. What could this guy do for a living? Note that he is not a villain and that even if he bothered to wear a costume, no-one is likely to accurately remember what he looked like. This extends to film and other media. His image is somewhat ambiguous whether he's viewed by electronic means or photography. People can see somebody in the picture, they can even describe him, but someone looking at the image and then at him would not necessarily know they were the same person. I imagine that he has a difficult time cashing checks even at his own bank. :help:

Well, he would be excellent at detective dirty-laundry work, process-serving, or spying, as someone else mentioned.

  3. Re: Super Zeroes

Nurse Goodtouch- able to heal minor scrapes and cuts (2d6 standard effect healing), works at a free clinic, giving the doctors some assistance so that they can help the really in need people.

  4. Re: Super Zeroes

Whiptenna- After achieving great combat proficiency with a old-style metal car antenna, he has taken to the streets to protect those without his "power". Slashing and whipping attacks made with the car antenna are actually somewhat effective, to the surprise of those criminals that he has thus far encountered (some punks with spray cans vandalizing his condo building).

  5. Re: Things You'd See in a World Full of Supers...

*Modifications to Child Endangerment laws to reflect sidekicks

*Depending on the magical traditions of the world and how public magic is, there might be extradition treaties with other realms to deal with the banishment of supernatural monsters/beings

*A very creepy idea, thankfully not mine- read the comic Top Ten and the term Chicken Supers will chill your soul

*Drug laws modified to reflect "Super Serums" and other power-granting chemicals, both beneficial (Miraclo) and harmful (Superadine from CoH)

*Special certifications from government to allow supers to utilize their abilities professionally- you won't be using your super strength in construction unless you can first prove you have enough control to do so safely, etc.

*Frivolous lawsuits- "His supervision gave me cancer", etc.

  6. Re: A White Wolf aneurysm

*Well, definitely a Hunted by all Werewolf groups.

*Heightened senses, both visual and olfactory, tracking on sense of hearing possibly

*For the rage effect, +x amount of Spd, with costs end and side effect: Berserk in combat

*Regeneration definitely, not vs. fire or silver damage

*Damage Resistance except vs, silver attacks, and fire

*Extradimensional travel, any location one other dimension, must match current location in this dimension, OIF reflective surface of opportunity

*Detect other Abmoninations as sense, possibly linked to smell

*Plus Str and Con, only in direct Moonlight or scaled to the phases of the Moon in the sky

*Contact in werewolf tribe, a relative that has not given up on the character and who will occasionally provide help at risk to their own life- also add this contact as a DNPC because sooner or later being in contact with the character will lead to the contact being hunted by own tribe and other tribes as well

*Claws and big honling teeth, if not already possessed

  7. Re: Things You'd See in a World Full of Supers...

Special "clans" or "lodges" for different groups of metahumans- the House of Wax for shapeshifters, the Mentat Group, etc- both heroes and villains may be members and you may even have villains mentoring the next generation of heroes in the use of their powers as all members of the lodge are required to assist their fellow members in learning to use their abilities. All lodge properties are neutral ground where no harm can come to any member and no member is allowed to reveal the lodge's location or who is there at any time.

This allows for Neutral Ground effect and "non-professional" interaction on social level between people who would otherwise only meet over the field of battle.

  8. Re: 6E Mess

Easy solution- use the OIHID, but look at it this way: must concentrate to change as it is force of will that causes change (your words) so, it takes full phase and anything that breaks concentration stops change- use common sense but flashes, actual attacks, even Pre attacks should all break the necessary concentration and make change end.

  9. Re: new marvel time line

Regarding what I would like to see in a "New" Marvel timeline ...

Related to the whole Jean Grey thing (BTW, is SHE currently alive or dead? I opted out of the X-titles years ago and have lost track), basically stop torturing Scott 'Cyclops' Summers.

Honest to god, it's like he is the Marvel Universe's crash test dummy for personal relationships; with all the bizarre stuff that keeps happening to people he dates, or marries, or is simply related to. Plus all the retconning that keeps being done to his background / family history. Enough, already.

That's because he's the personification of suck in the MU. But you're right, stop torturing him- he was killed during the Twelve storyline so just keep him dead and stop annoying everyone with his incessant `Woe is me`whining.

  10. Re: Some Help for WWII Icons

Do you mean the Golden Age of Comic Books or the Golden Age of the Champions Universe???

Allies of World War II or Axis Powers?

    Thanks, Cheers...

    QM

Any source- comics, and rpg game, etc. and both axis and allies. I'm creating a mishmash campaign world and am curious on who others consider THE Hero for each country involved- man think Cap America but some may also consider Uncle Sam, etc. I am curious about this.

  11. Okay, using any source you have available to you, what woudl you set as the "Icon" character for all the following countries during WWII:

    USA

    USSR

    Germany

    Italy

    Japan

    UK/Britain

France (possibly in exile or resistance)

And what other national heroes would you add in other than these?

  12. Re: Karate Kid vs Karate Kid

A little bit trickier to try to figure out who the best martial artist in the Marvel Universe is.

Iron Fist seems to be getting a big push of late, but there's also Gamora, Mantis, Shang Chi and perhaps even Champion (the elder of the universe who devoted himself to studying personal combat). Mandarin is supposed to be a bada$$ martial artist, too. I'd probably pick Mantis, since she's capable of one-punching Thor.

Shang Chi is probably the greatest human fighter but that leaves Gamora and Mantis to death duel for intergalactic supremacy.

  13. Re: Martial arts Villian

Where I would put an extra 50 points for this character (based on what you've said about him):

*2 (or More) DCs for MA for additional umph

*If you don't have already, make sure to have the following maneuvers in MA for use with cane-

    Choke

    Block

    Disarm

    Throw/Trip

    *Missle Deflection with cane

*NND Flash, no range (Defense is sealed eye covers or Immunity to irritants) for a 1-4 shot pepperspray dispenser in cane

    *Possibly Find Weakness

    *definitely CSLs

*Ambidexterity, as mentioned below is a good idea in case he needs to switch hands ("I'm not really left handed")

    Hope these ideas help...

  14. Re: The patriot

thanks guys. I will rep you so look for it. I need to pull everything out of his EC, and then rework it. This is the second writeup for the character he has submitted. I don't like to haggle about things. It looks like I am going to just have to write the character myself.

    CES

h, IC now- this was for a character in one of your games, not you creation... gotcha- that makes more sense frankly.

  15. Re: Disad Value (5e)

In a game taking place in a slightly more technologically advanced version of the real world' date=' what value do you think 'No Legal Rights' would be worth?[/quote']

At a guess, I would say 20 or 25- either frequent or very frequent with Severe, as a social lim.

  16. Re: The patriot

I don't disagree' date=' it's completely up to the GM. You may have noticed that the OP (who may or may not actually [i']be[/i] said GM) specifically asked for imput, which I gave.

Are you incapable of playing low power characters or was this line a joke?

I know that he was asking for input, it just seemed that you were getting a little too hung up on some details of the character.

I was somewhat joking and somewhat not- this is intended as a 5th edition Champions charcter, not a Fantasy Hero or Dark Champions character. Personally, unless making an intentionally limited character or a teen champion, I would likely be hard-pressed to build a well-rounded character at this level myself. But I like to pack all kinds of expensive things into even low-power characters, like background skills, logical reps and perks-including possible theme bases or vehicles, that sort of thing:)

  17. Re: The patriot

What possible concept justifies selling their SPD off and buying all of their extra DEX and more SPD as part of the Elemental Control?

While there might not be anything wrong with it from a rules perspective I have trouble with this power even if it wasn’t in the EC:

Why start with a HKA and add Ranged instead of starting with a RKA? Because he wants to get extra damage from adding STR. Why does a “Telekinetic Railgun” get extra damage based on the Characters physical STR? Why is the power “Range Based on STR”? There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, it just doesn’t seem to model what the name of the power describes.

Also, while I don’t have anything else to compare it to as far as the campaign goes, it really looks like an attempt to min/max the power. I mean Armor Piercing and the Increased Stun Multiplier combined with No Knockback (Killing damage does less KB anyway) and an OIF which he can basically justify as “I walk around with a pocket full of pennies to shoot people with” just seems off. It looks like an attempt to Advantage stack a minor Power to make it a threat, and then bring the price down by stacking Limitations that don’t do much then sticking the whole thing in an EC.

Also, as has already been stated, where are his skills? Even with a full set of “Everyman Skills” the character is still bare bones to say the least.

I think that you might have been getting too hung up on the name of the power- it was apparent to me that he's picking things up and flinging them at targets, why wouldn't his Str add to that damage. As far as being a complex and top heavy build, if his GM allows for it then that's not our problem.

As far as no skills- it's a 200 point char for crying out loud! I'm surprised he has any stats not built through EC personally!

  18. Re: Duel battons

Here's one way to incorporate range:

16 Dual Batons: Multipower, 37-point reserve, (37 Active Points); all slots OAF (-1), Unified Power (-1/4) - END=

    1f 1) Hand-To-Hand Attack +3d6, Autofire (5 shots; +1/2), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1) (37 Active Points); Hand-To-Hand Attack (-1/4) - END=0

    1f 2) Blast 6d6 (vs. PD), Armor Piercing (+1/4) (37 Active Points); 2 Recoverable Charges (-1), Lockout (-1/2), Range Based On Strength (-1/4) - END=[2 rc]

Instead of the AP on thrown attack, would it not make more sense to have AF:2 shots instead?
