Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth?
Do we have only these two examples, or are there other similar Evil Conquerors Who Improve Everyone's Lot in other Hero System products or in the works of Long generally? They're nowhere near the power levels of the others, but The Futurists (The Fiend and Morticus) from CV2 seem to have a similar mindset. Professor Paradigm seems to think he's doing the Multiverse a favor as well.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!
Apathy
No one knows where he came from, how he got his power, or where he found that horse. No one knows, because he can't be bothered to tell anyone.
But the Apocalypse is coming, and he'll make sure you won't even be bothered enough to care. Assuming he decides to get out of bed.

Re: Fox of Crime info
Are you talking about The Fox? The guy who teleports and carries cream pies? I always loved that guy' date=' and used him more than once as a GM. [/quote']You had him run your games? That must have been pretty awesome.
(Sorry. Couldn't help myself.)

Re: Modern-day Pulp?
If music's a big part of the game for modern pulp, one could also look at the swing revivalists like Royal Crown Revue and Squirrel Nut Zippers, or even further back to jump blues artists like Louis Jordan and Louis Prima.
Another thing to consider besides the look is the slang. Street language, especially if the GM is going to voice the NPCs, is pretty crucial to a Pulp game.

Condolences to you and yours, Marcus.

Re: Cool concepts for your games.
He's talented as an artist but most of the concepts are unfortunately too Silver Age for my games. It's not that they're Silver Age, IMO, but that they fall into the "camp" subset. Basically puns writ large. Which works fine for me, but as Trencher points out, may require some adjusting for tone depending on the game.
Still, a lot of imagination on display there.

Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth?
I agree its just a matter of taste. I probably gleefully accept some things that would make allot of other people perplexed. For instance' date=' I have no trouble with the idea that Telios figuratively creating himself by sending information back in time.[/quote']I'm the same way. In general, I have no problem with weird and silly because at some level I find the whole superhero genre weird and silly. Mostly in a good way.

Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth?
Istvatha V'han is a literally unique being. To date no one has discovered any alternate version of her in any universe or timeline.Except for Steve Long, who created several for BotE.

Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth?
To destroy is easy, to conquer is not.Good post.
To Steve Long's credit, much of what you cover is mentioned in BotE, with an added focus on diplomatic issues and the possibility of underground activity on other worlds in the Empire as a result of so many resources committed to the invasion.

Re: Whatever Happened To:
The book Champions Universe for Fourth Edition HERO included a multi-part adventure which introduced an alternate-Earth super-group' date=' the "Unique Battalion," which by their origin, membership, and the way they were introduced to Champions Earth, were clearly inspired by the Corrupters of All.[/quote']That's interesting. Until you mentioned that, I wouldn't have connected the two groups. But that's likely due to preferring to forget about the Corrupters.

Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore
The Grand Sicilian Mountain Pie: 12-14 incredible pounds of -thick 16” crust, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage and hamburger, covered with cheeseWorks for me. Then again, it's frightening how often I've watched "Man vs. Food" and thought the same thing.

i though the jla tv movie was not on DVDI don't think it is officially, but it's a commonly bootlegged movie. Haven't seen it myself.

Re: Your "2013" Pet Gaming Projects
Not much difference from last year.
I'm unlikely to do any actual gaming, but I continue to support Kickstarter products that catch my fancy (I'm patiently waiting for Golden Age Champions). I'm also writing down any character/NPC/setting ideas that come up since I don't want to lose them even if they don't get used.

Re: Question: What makes a team leader?
I've never built a character with the idea of being a team leader. I tended to avoid being the leader in general, to the point of having a standard "If I'm leading, we're really in trouble" response. But some characters I played just gravitated to the role.

Re: DC and Marvel: What Makes Them Different?
I prefer to think that you misspelled Grooness' date=' Comics could use more Groo [/quote']I prefer to think that he meant Goonness, and somewhere Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan are smiling.
We were talking whimsy, after all.

Re: DC and Marvel: What Makes Them Different?
I agree that the Champions Universe is more like Marvel than DC' date=' a good thing IMO. BTW, which universe do you prefer? The fourth edition one or the fifth?[/quote']Fourth edition was a valiant attempt at unifying a lot of disparate sources of info into something coherent. It largely works, and given the continuity may have the edge in replicating the feel of a long-running comic book universe.
The 5th may be more coherent, but it's also darker.
