  1. So, it got approved and should now be accessible. Plus, here's a pdf. Star Hero - Astronaut Package Deal.pdf
  2. Sure, no problem. Star Hero - Astronaut Package Deal.pdf
  3. Apparently, there's an issue with the upload. Here's the file. Astronaut.zip
  4. Well, this is weird. If I look at my content, I have no files submitted. If I click the link I posted, this is what I see.
  5. That's odd. If I click the link it takes me right there. I wonder if there's a permissions issue?
  6. I seem to get to it fine. Can you find it from clicking Downloads > Hero Designer > Prefabs?
  7. Some time ago I was looking through the Dark Champions book at the modern profession Package Deals, and noticed a glaring omission -- the Astronaut. I thought this was a really interesting career choice for player characters, that could provide a cross-over possibility with Star Hero plots. I did research on Wikipedia and the NASA website, and came up with my own Package Deal. I just noticed it went down with the Vault, and re-uploaded it. Astronaut Package Deal

Some time ago, I was looking through the list of Dark Champions professional package deals, and realized one very interesting option was missing -- Astronauts. I did research on astronaut training and found quite a lot of detail online. Putting it together, I worked up the package deal and this is the result.

I worked up some of the old World of Darkness stuff that I owned into Hero terms. My plan was to allow players of my High Fantasy Hero game the opportunity to play those "races" if they wanted to; plus I knew it would be an excellent opportunity to cut my teeth on 6E Hero, which is different enough I felt the need to practice. Unfortunately, the thread I made to discuss this Package Deal did not survive the forum migration. I think this is a pretty elegant conversion, and welcome feedback. This also available as a Template.

As mentioned in this thread, I worked up some of the old World of Darkness stuff that I owned into Hero terms. My plan was to allow players of my High Fantasy Hero game the opportunity to play those "races" if they wanted to; plus I knew it would be an excellent opportunity to cut my teeth on 6E Hero, which is different enough I felt the need to practice. Werewolves are extremely interesting from a mechanical standpoint. The obvious power for them is Multiform, but after playing with the numbers for a while, it occurred to me that they're really only changing Characteristics around in the different forms. I tried it as a Multipower, and if fit a whole lot better. This is also available as a Template.
  12. Didn't there used to be a Star Hero Fan page with forum and sections for various conversions/settings/bits? I'm not finding it just this second... Aha. Found it. And... it's also down...
  13. 1. Yeah, that was a typo. If you look at the actual package file, the Crinos has a 23 STR. 2. I based this writeup on a close reading of the fluff text for the forms first, informed by a consideration of the game stats. The Lupus form is the "fastest" form, so I gave it the highest actual movement rate. 3. I considered giving the Glabro +1 DEX, but nothing in the fluff noted that the form was more agile than the base human form. EDIT - I'm just now realizing that, since the blogs are gone, there went a good portion of my notes on these conversions. And the Wayback Machine has not a single one of my blog posts saved up. *sigh*
  14. Sorry, missed that this three-year-old thread was still active! Keeping in mind that this is a package deal, so the base human is unmodified: Homid Glabro Crinos Hispo Lupus STR 10 15 23 18 12 DEX 10 10 13 15 15 CON 10 15 18 18 15 INT 10 10 10 10 10 EGO 10 10 10 10 10 PRE 10 10 10 10 10 PD 2 4 8 5 3 ED 2 4 8 5 3 SPD 2 2 2 2 2 REC 4 4 4 4 4 END 20 20 20 20 20 BODY 10 13 16 16 13 STUN 20 26 32 32 26 Running 12 12 15 18 24 Swimming 4 4 4 4 4 Leaping 4 6 8 10 8
  15. Well, after discussion with my home game group, it looks like I'm going to back-burner this one and submit a different one-page dungeon. As said before, there's no actual "dungeon" here - it's a setting in search of a scenario. I thought about coming up with a "design challenge" -- "build a starport under 1 million credits within 30 days" or something, but it's not going to be great. Anyway, I still plan to finish this as time permits, and make my Visio stencils available so people can make their own starports. Here's what I ended up with to this point. Edit: Hmmm... the file didn't attach. Let me try something else, then: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1gbLqXS723cb1FncGR1SFlhV3M/edit?usp=sharing
  16. My one concern is, there's no actual "encounter" there -- it's a toolbox for creating encounters. I'm worried it's going to cost me a win again this year. But it's what's nagging at the back of my mind, so...
  17. So, it's that time of year again, for submissions to the One Page Dungeon contest. Entries can be submitted until the end of April. What's that? You have no idea what I'm talking about? Well, get the hence to here: CampaignWiki.org: One Page Dungeon Contest 2013 The One Page Dungeon Contest is a bit where people contribute one page scenarios of their choice. Most of fantasy, but there are a fair number of sci-fi, western, and other genres represented. Since I realized there was a dearth of sci-fi, that's what I've been submitting. This year, I'm thinking of submitting my Starport Tiles, developed in my Traveller Hero home game. I could probably whip up a "catalog sheet" for them, with each listing the contents. The tiles are about two inches to the side, and came in response to my players flitting from one starport to the next, willy-nilly, with no care for the amount of effort it takes the overworked GM to plot and map. Now, I can just semi-randomly shift tiles around and make one as large or as small as I like. Once I have something decent, I'll post it here for commentary, but I thought I'd start up a thread to remind people to get started on their entries. Or, if they prefer to consume, there are hundreds of free one-pagers available on the site, some of them of fantastically-professional quality or with excellent ideas embedded.
  18. Re: I craete my Space Colony and populate it with... This could be similar to the Creepy Hotel thread... Maybe "Help Me Populate a Quirky Space Colony"?
  19. Re: Are starship deckplans with a 1 inch grid usable? I've been using your Exeter in my Traveller Hero campaign, as it's the design my players felt best suited them. I haven't really had too much trouble with the grid, since they're too interested in not breaking their ship to get involved in fights aboard (though that may change as my campaign is just getting to the start of the 5FW. I'm bummed I missed your Kickstarter! I love your deckplans and hope to use your larger space station in Space Horror convention games in the future. I'll just have to jump on your next one!
  20. All suit systems are bought through the same focus anyway. And I'm not worried about Drain Life Support, as that doesn't show up anywhere in my campaign. It's a -0 limitation anyway, just to indicate what systems shut down when the power runs out.
  21. Okay, I think that was the last update for today. I've Linked most of the systems to the Life Support (Self-Contained Breathing) because it seemed more efficient than giving the suit a "realistic" Endurance Reserve. That Life Support runs on a Fuel Charge; when it runs out, all suit systems that are dependent on electricity shut down. I've updated the PDF as well. I need to write up little blurbs for each, since most of the Megatraveller stuff is all spread out.
  22. Not a CSB. When I was a wee gamer back in the prehistoric days (we didn't even have a Web!) the Traveller universe was basically fluff text in the main rulebooks, which were small saddle-stapled, cheaply-made booklets. For years, my group played it as if Battle Dress was some sort of power armored kilt outfit, because of the "dress" connotation. The line art we drew then is doubly-embarrassing now -- poorly drawn and horrendously inaccurate!
  23. Now I'm confused. How is that different from the Zero-G Maneuver Pack in the Options section? Actually, since this is all one suit of power armor, the Durability has been calculated similar to suits of magic Armor in Fantasy Hero -- BODY is equal to the Active Points of the Resistant Protection, as it didn't seem right to base it on either the IR And LI Visor or whatever arm-mounted weapon it might have (both of which are higher in Active Point value). Every suit has the Weight, Cost, PD, ED, and BODY in the comments for that suit. I've revised the PDF and HDP files based on finding some copypasta errors.
  24. I realize I was a bit abrupt last night. I blame tiredness. It seems to me if you're taking into account the curvature of the earth for Normal Sight, then you have to do so for the whole Sight Group. Detect Heat Signatures would have to be in some group you define as ignoring intervening masses or the curvature of space, in order to eliminate the penalty. Besides, as Christopher said below, those are more-or-less Marketing statements -- technically feasible but idealized. The Flight doesn't have any of the restrictions I put on jets and stuff. How should I build it? It's still a range issue, but I see your point that the size modifier might be moot. I'll have to see if I can find images of IR signatures of campfires on-line. See above. I would say that the Range Modifier and "High Contrast" modifiers are still appropriate. True. I'll bump those values down a couple points. I generally tend to avoid Megascale on Senses since it seems like "cheating" to me -- why bother having Range Modifiers if you're just going to Megascale things where they would apply?
