  2. Re: Unique Bow Talents

I LOVE the ideas from Folded and the Trip. I do NOT want custom trick arrows. These have to be trick shots instead. ;)

The player brought up a nerve pinch that I also think might be fun. I was thinkin' of plusses to the Stun Mod with OCV penalties. The special effect is targeting a nerve. ;)

    Nice gents! Anymore? :)

  3. Hi Hero Lovers: In my current FH campaign one of the characters is a super archer. He has levels, etc but he wants to get some unique bow talents with EP. In my campaign I encourage players to come up with new talents for their PC so this is not an unusual request.

Here is one that he has now...

Arrow Pin: Entangle 2d6, 1 DEF, Takes No Damage From Attacks (All Attacks) (+1/2) (22 Active Points); Does Not Prevent The Use Of Accessible Foci (-1), OAF (Bow and Arrow; -1), Side Effects, Side Effect occurs automatically whenever Power is used (Must target a single hit location; -1), Gestures (Requires both hands; -1/2), Only to pin targeted object to ground or wall (-1/2), Beam (-1/4), Can Be Missile Deflected (-1/4), Cannot Form Barriers (-1/4), Concentration (1/2 DCV; -1/4)

How about some other ideas? :)

  4. Re: Dark Sun profanating spell effect

What about letting defilers buy an Aid spell with a Side Effect (Defiles)? If you want to get fancy you could even put a Trigger on the Aid so it happens really fast. You could also give this to everyone as a campaign rule. Just some thoughts...

  5. Re: Dark Sun profanating spell effect

I am not familiar with Dark Sun but to me this seems like a Side Effect limitation with the effects you specify. I guess I don't see why anyone would pay for that effect. Maybe just add a Side Effect (Defiling) that has the effects given above. If a character has a spell with this limitation they can exceed some set point limit. For example, the campaign limit is 30 active points on spells without this limitation or 45 active points with it. Just thinkin' out loud...

  6. Re: Required hit loaction

An archer in my FH campaign has a special attack something similar to this and I built it as entangle. I also limitations to reflect that he has to pin something to a nearby object. Here is how I did it:

  7. Hi Hero Worshipers: Derek Hiemforth runs a really fun campaign called the Darkwalkers. It is kinda like Men In Black but with magic. During the session yesterday something came up that made me bust out laughing...

One of the PC (Lars aka the noir detective with ghost powers) asked another PC (Jas the dilettante linguist who is host to a unicorn spirit) to ask the skull of John The Baptist if there where pressure plates inside a nearby mansion so that we could steal one of the silver coins of Judas.

After a pause of about a second I started laughing...too funny...only in the Darkwalkers... :D Also don't ask how we got the skull OR why we are looking to gather a set of coins that we know are really really dangerous... ;)

    Great stuff.

  8. Re: Idea For Cool Magic Bag Or Thief Item

I have a twist but I think it could be done in a similar way using transform or maybe with a VPP. What if the user could make any non-living item out of the clay even if they don't have an original? That way they could whip up a lockpick, a spike, a doorstop, a lock, etc. I was thinking of a tiny VPP with charges. Nice gents. :)

  9. Re: Idea For Cool Magic Bag Or Thief Item

Wow gents...nice. :) I think the clay or dust idea would be the best for this particular PC although I love the token/bag too! :D

    Wait a sec!

The clay idea fits the person who currently has the item the thief will get perfectly! He is sort of an evil craftsman who plays with small models. I could see him having the clay! Ohhh...nice...[wheels are turning in GMs head]...

  10. Re: "Rolling a Critical"

I have a critical system that I use for Fantasy Hero. It is combined with a brownie pt/karma system to make a complete picture. The critical part is pretty simple. If you roll half of what you need to hit or less you crit. When you crit you do max damage. It does NOT control the hit location only the damage. So if you need a 11- to hit you crit on a 5-. If you need a 19- to hit you crit on a 9-. This dynamic makes it interesting for those fencer types. Pump OCV and hope for a crit can sometimes work out to max damage.

  11. Re: Map Tiles

Sorry' date=' no - I intended to use the maps for my online game, which now looks to never occur. I haven't experimented with printing them.[/quote']

Hi Curufea and Darren/Steve: You should see if Steve and/or Darren can post these on the Hero site in the free stuff section. These are flippin' awesome! :D

  12. Re: Magic Resistance

Actually a simpler way to build it is an always-on Suppress (all special effect: magic (1 hex) - in 6E maybe you could use surface for this ... dunno, don't have 6E yet). This will reduce the effect of any spell and even a few dice can prove to be surprisingly useful, since it reduces the damage that gets through defences, even if it doesn't prevent damage, reduces entangles to the point where they are more easily broken, drops many powers below the point where they will function and kills smaller cumulative powers entirely.

    cheers, Mark

Ding ding. This is my vote. Rep comin'...

  13. Re: Browncoat Mal Reynolds on Castle

My wife and I are also Castle fans. We started watching from the first ep. We watched the Halloween ep last night...it was really fun. Lot of references to Buffy and such too. I was also geeking out on the Frank Miller references being a huge fan of his...cool stuff all around...nice light cop show.

  14. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive

    GOT MINE!

Boy...these suckers are lovely. The layout and format is compact and I think very easy to read. I also LOVE (note the CAPS) the indexing that shows in the binding/leaf. VERY nice touch that really makes them useful.

Congrats Steve, Darren, and Waltereses...we all won this time... :)
