Re: The cranky thread Thanks, guys... On the (somewhat) bright side, Scott (my mom's mechanic) confirmed that it was in fact the engine, and that spending the money to fix it would be worthless. So he (or another mechanic) might buy the car for parts (which would be at least something back for a car only worth $300-500, KBB value), and he also has two cars he's trying to sell. Until I get a job, we can't take him up on the offer, but nice of him to suggest it. The job hunt continues today... Michelle aka Samuraiko

Re: Musings on Random Musings I did find it amusing, however, that on one sojourn to California, I had to rent a car to get home, and learned after the fact that the Buick Skylark (in this powder blue shade) is apparently the unmarked cop car of California. It explained why I could do 90 the whole from Indio, California, to Phoenix, Arizona, and people were getting out of my way. I've also talked my way out of almost every traffic ticket I've ever gotten, so why should I be afraid of you, MB? Michelle aka Samuraiko

Re: The cranky thread I had to come on here and rant, so bear with me. Last night at 11:30pm, while driving home on the highway from my mom's, the engine on John's car blew out (and scared the living crap out of me, let me tell you). Oil all over the windshield, loud clanking and rattling, the works. So now John's car is toast. And the Travises are now car-less (at least until next week or the week after, when MY car will finally be getting fixed). Bad enough that John knew this was coming (wish he'd told ME this, all I could think while standing on the freeway with no hazard lights and hoping some psycho doesn't stop was that John was going to kill me when I got home). But we just spent $340 we didn't have getting his starter fixed not even a week ago. ARGH! Michelle aka Samuraiko
