Disclaimer: I have nothing but sympathy for your recent illness, I admire your tenacity in your efforts to get your book written and published, I certainly wish you well and I mean the following in a friendly, light bantering way. :)

Soooo, Samuraiko, you say your bedroom's too hot ?

    I'm sooooooo sorry.

I seem to recall your saying that one of your favorite Wintertime amusements is calling up all your East Coast and Midwest friends and rubbing their noses in the fact that you are celebrating Christmas lounging by the pool with a Pina Colada in your hand.

Last night my husband turned on our bedroom air conditioner and by 3:00 am it was so cold I woke up and actually had to turn on the heat. THIS HAPPENS EVERY NIGHT !!!! He keeps the house so cold in the summer I have to bundle up. EVERY DAY !!!! :eg:

    Bwahahahahahaha !!!!!!

    *laughing*

As a general rule, a little heat doesn't bother me, but when my BEDROOM is 95 degrees, this is not my idea of fun.

But oddly enough, I sleep better when it's cold (most likely because of the lung problems, hot = muggy = major asthma/breathing problems). Otherwise, heat is just fine.

And I will accept the compliments without harassing you... much.

I have this insane urge to bring a wiffleball bat to work and start whacking the supervisors every time they start yelling across the call center.

I also have this insane urge to buy a bag of gourmet potato chips, a box of Godiva chocolate truffles, a bottle of a really good (really STRONG) red wine, call in to work tomorrow, and watch all the DVDs of the Goku-Majin Vegeta battle back-to-back.

To those who've sent well wishes, yes, I am finally over the worst of it, went back to work today. Had to take a lot of care with my voice not to blow it out on my first day back, but seems to be all right. Tired a lot, though.

*takes a moment to hit Tim with a pillow*

Things go rolling on along though, thank God it was fairly slow today at work (so the supervisors weren't going around yelling, "Come on, get the call queue down!"), actually worked on my website a bit while on the phones (the joys of waiting on hold for people). Got an online store now. :D

I actually wish I had a jacuzzi, but I want it filled with COOL water, not hot... just to sit back and relax...

God, I hope I get more than five hours of sleep tonight, but that's not bloody likely, the damned AC went out again. It's almost 90 in our apartment right now.

Thank God I'm finally getting over this... although I slept something like fifteen hours today. Went to bed at 9pm, slept til 7am, got up, stayed awake til 9am, went back to sleep til 3pm.

And I don't know if it's the blood pressure meds or the antibiotics, but I am THIRSTY!

Who's for drinks over at the Travis's place? BYOB! We'll throw on anime and bad movies and yap about gaming til 3am!

    Oh joy of joys...

After a much needed doctor's visit on Thursday, turns out that I have a double case of sinusitis and bronchitis. So I got to take a note to work saying I'm out til at least Monday. *groan*

To make matters worse, for reasons not-quite-known, I'm currently sporting a blood pressure of 150/100, so for a month I'm on high blood pressure meds to try and bring them back down.

God, I hope I still have a job on Monday...

  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

I made my first t-shirt on CafePress.com last week, and it got here today!

    AND IT LOOKS FRICKIN' AWESOME!

    *does the MegaMan happy dance*

Next step, add a link from my website to the online store, where I also designed buttons, magnets, t-shirts, and other neat stuff...

  7. Re: Anime Champions?

I was able to watch about 1/2 doz. fan-subs and was interested' date=' but heard some reviews/reports on how (animation-wise) it starts to fall apart, and that made me leery of going any further. Oh, and I also discovered Samurai Champloo. If I could rent/borrow it, I'd like to watch it, but I'm not spending any money to buy it.[/quote']

Really? Damn. Still gonna get it though.

Personally, I think the biggest letdown I've gotten from an anime in a loooonnnnngggg time was SPIRAL, coz I really did want to find out "WHO ARE THE BLADE CHILDREN?" And it doesn't even answer the question! ARGH!

And I've seen both BGC:2033 and BGC:2040 and I personally (YOMV) prefer 2040. To each his or her own. (Although admittedly John likes the boomers better in 2033, but that's his preference...)

  8. Re: Anime Champions?

Another great one for running a long-term campaign in (I think) is the world of SAMURAI 7 (I just got Volume 1 last night, and man it kicks major butt so far).

John nearly flattened me with a pillow for referring to it as ROKUGAN 40K, but it's actually quite good, and the whole world makes for a great setting, I think! (I also think that the initial fight between Kanbe and Kyuzo was a great reference in how my L5R character and John's would be fighting it out...)

Hey, Susano, you're the uber-anime-geek, have you seen it yet? What'dya think?

Argh... what did I do to deserve this?

Got clobbered Sunday with a cold (yes, even in August in Phoenix one can still catch a cold), which now has turned into full-blown laryngitis on top of it. Which of course makes doing phone support nearly impossible, so that's two days of work down the tubes.

However, I have gotten a few emails that will turn into sales (I also check my work mail from home) so the days won't be total losses, but still... I can only pray I'm not going to miss tomorrow as well, I'll get killed if I do.

The great thing is' date=' everything Hero does wrong when it’s trying to be realistic is actually right for anime. Especially from the mid to late 80’s.[/quote']

    True. Very true.

Swords slicing down trees in one stroke: Check.

Priss getting whaled on for 15 minutes by boomers without serious injury: Check.

Goku getting whaled on by the villain of the saga for 2-7 DVDs and surviving. Until he voluntarily commits suicide.

Athletes jumping three times their height: Check.

A martial arts kick knocking the target back 10’ and imbedding him in a wall: Check.

Target getting back up with only light bruising: Check.

Laws of physics working differently depending on who’s doing what: Check.

For example: Everyone knows how to fly. Everyone (except Krillin) knows that to fly you must concentrate.

Annoying DNPCs showing up 90% of the time and getting in trouble: Check.

Like ChiChi showing up to harass poor Gohan and Goku. Or Master Roshi trying to be tough and failing miserably.

It’s surprisingly hard to kill people. Almost impossible without an edged weapon: Check.

Unless you're Trunks. Or even Yajirobe.

    Soliloquy-Improved Presence attacks: Check.

Although I think you should have negative Presence if you're doing the whole "I am [whoever], this can't be happening to ME!"

    Dive for Cover: Check.

The more @#$!!ed up you are, and the more personal problems you have, the better you are at everything: Check.

    Also very true.

  11. Re: The cranky thread

I swear, if I ever win the lottery, I'm hiring a full-time masseuse.

And it's not quite cranky, more like depressingly morose... I have started getting back responses from the 'con coordinators about advertising there, and I realize that I have NOWHERE near the kind of money it would take to really get the word out. (For example, the event coordinator at Ubercon VI just wrote back, and for a business-size b/w ad in the program is $350!!! ARGHHHH!!!!)

Although, thankfully, to advertise at I-CON and AC3 for the same type of ad is $35 and $65, respectively, much more affordable.

Maybe I should offer a free t-shirt to any Hero member going to a con to take my flyers with me... nope, strike that, I don't have enough money for that, either.

Not quite cranky, but definitely amused/puzzled...

The MagicNinjas.com thread that Shadowpup started has mysteriously gone bye-bye.

Although I AM cranky about the supervisors at work having a SHOUTING MATCH NOT THREE FEET FROM MY CHAIR!

    Grrrrrrr...

And my shoulder is killing me. I think I need at least five or six different people to come out and work on it, John's only got so much upper body strength...

  13. Re: The cranky thread

A quick glance at magicninjas shows that that's actually kind of a compliment. I certainly wouldn't want to be complimented by the sort of people who post there. It's like a website where everyone is Mightybec' date=' only without the sense of humor.[/quote']

Apt description. Very apt. And I feel kinda bad for Shadowpup, who I know was just trying to help and got me kinda stomped on in the process.

. . . In other words' date=' rectal headgears, the lot of them.[/quote']

    Probably.

It's weird, I know I shouldn't give a toss for what they think, but I was really hurt by those two cracks.

    Oh well...
